flood waters has covered most of the trail. walnut creek has reached the level of 6 feet at interstate 35-80. the national weather service says it could crest up to 10 point 5 feet. when the flood water recedes the city will reopen the trail. we've had so much rain so fast...that it's flooded out a popular des moines holiday tradition... channel 13's reid chandler shows us how the rain's meant lights out for a big metro fundraiser.

discovery of two sets of human remains in union county. authorities say one of the victims is his former sister-in-law... 37 year old loretta dillinger. dci says hunters came across dillinger's body in a pond... near lorimor on december 2nd. they called it suspicious, but released few other details in the case. during their investigation, the d-c-i found skeletal remains in thayer. no word yet on the identity of the victim... police are searching the missing persons database. the motive for either case is still not known . dnr is investigating three deer hunting accidents that happened over this weekend. today, a marshalltown man suffered a self inflicted gunshot wound in palo alto county. they say 70 year old david william clark was sitting on a log with his

hand. he's expected to survive another hunter was shot while trapping this morning in delaware county. dnr says 51 year old carey ahlers was shot in the leg when he attempted to load his handgun while checking traps. he's expected to survive as well finally a third hunter got hit by a stray bullet while hunting in guthrie county. the dnr says 32 year old shaymus smith was struck in his right leg by another hunter. they think that other hunter was shooting at a deer running by the republican presidential candidates will face-off in a debate this tuesday night in las vegas. pre-debate polls add another dynamic to the big night kim hutcherson reports. a fox news poll released sunday shows texas senator, ted cruz leading the gop presidential field in iowa -- the first state to vote in the presidential nominating process ---
