the state trooper they cleared one year ago... is now charged in the death of brandon ellingson... good evening, and thank you for joining us. i'm dan winters. the 20-year old man from clive drowned at the lake of the ozarks in may of 20- 14. he was handcuffed in police custody, accused of drunken boating... the arresting officer put ellingson in the wrong type of life jacket.. one that came off when ellingson fell out of the speeding patrol boat. a camera captured trooper anthony piercy talking about the accident shortly after he returned to shore. i don't know, i guess i coulda done a lot of things different.... i guess i

piercy was originally cleared of any wrong doing. that changed when a second special prosecutor was assigned to the case... the charges were announced today. " i've filed the charge of involuntary manslaughter against anthony piercy today" 20:28:59-20:29:08 "anthony piercy deserves what he's getting and he'll have his day in court but he knows what he did wrong." 20:30:52-20:31:05 "i think we are getting somewhere now so hopefully i think brendans smiling down on us and appreciates what we are doing and we are not going to quit until we get justice." craig ellingson tells us he's relieved at finally getting at shot at justice for his son after two years of fighting. trooper piercy was put on unpaid leave after the charges were announced. prosecutors say the case was reopened because of new evidence... but they haven't said what that evidence involves. the original special

from witnesses... responding officers... and that recording of trooper piercy we showed. with in days of reviewing the evidence.. she decided piercy would not be charged. the ellingson family thinks grellner is the next person police should investigate. it's been nothing but a cover up since the beginning." "the people that were trying to cover up and protect anthony piercy need to exposed also." grellner recused herself from the case citing a conflict of interest. she did not say what that conflict involved. prosecutors in boone county are second-guessing a judge's decision to release an accused sexual abuser without bond... 16-year old clayton tullis was arrested last week. he's charged wit 2nd degree sexual abuse and invasion of privacy. according to court documents tullis pulled down a five-year olds underwear... and took pictures of her nude at his mother's in-home daycare. his bond was initially set at 100- thousand dollars... but that was waived during his initial court

both prosecutors.. and the alleged victims mother are outraged... 062501 - its kind of scary because you kind of think that things are put in place like this protect kids and protect other people and that being waived or eliminated just makes you question you know, if he could go and do whatever he wants, what else will happen 182606 - the charge is a class b felony with a potential sentence with up to 25 years and typically in class b felonies you see some time of bond established, a person is not just released to the supervision of the iowa department of corrections - dan kolacia as part of the pre-trial release... tullis must have adult supervision when he's around anyone under

des moines police are investigating a shooting... officers were called to this auto body shop on second avenue... but weren't sure if that's where the shooting took place. an officer told us the victim was shot in the abdomen and that quote, "he wasn't going to die." police haven't said whether or not they arrested anyone or if they're looking for a suspect. the city of des moines is facing more legal action over its use of interstate speed cameras. this time its a class action lawsuit. the two plaintiffs say the speed cameras on i-235 are illegally handing out tickets because the d-o-t ordered them turned off. the d-o-t issued the order in march, saying the cameras don't improve traffic safety. in the lawsuit the two plaintiffs are asking a judge to shut down the program and issue refunds to everyone ticketed. meanwhile sioux city will consider a reduction in fines for its interstate speed camera. the city currently charges speeders

that to 100-dollars. in des moines.. speed camera tickets range from 65-dollars to 80- dollars depending on how fast you're going. iowa's unemployment rate hit a 14-year low in november... iowa workforce development says the unemployment rate fell a tenth of a point to 3-point-4 percent last month. that's the lowest rate since 20-01. its also much better than the national unemployment rate of 5-percent. dupont pioneer is trying to back-out of a deal to create more than 300-jobs in iowa. according to the iowa city press citizen.. the company is scrapping plans to build a 90-million dollar corn plant in independence. pioneer blames a downtown in the economy for the change. iowa leaders awarded the company 21-million dollars in tax incentives for the project based on the job creation goal. the farm economy isn't the only thing hurting right now... the dow fell nearly 370-points today. that's in addition to thursday's 250-point drop. the nasdaq and and s-&-p also

losses today. procrastinators will be out in force tomorrow.... the saturday before christmas is the busiest shopping day of the year... chief meteorologist brett mcintyre joins us... will shoppers have to battle the weather along witht he crowds... blustery winds will die down as we head into the overnight. lows into saturday will be some of the coldest so far this december. highs will bounce back to the upper and middle 40s sunday through tuesday. highs will cool a bit on christmas eve, but strong south winds will likely push temperatures well above average again on christmas day. while a white christmas looks to be something that will have to wait until 2016, the potential for rain or rain and snow over the weekend after christmas is something to monitor for post-holiday travel

clinton's favor... by their action, the leadership of the democratic national committee is now actively attempting to undermine our campaign. this is unacceptable the d-n-c cut-off the sanders campaign from the party's voter database. the d-n-c says a sanders campaign worker exploited a software error to improperly access confidential voter information collected by hillary clinton's says it warned the d-n-c about the software problem months ago... the d-n-c decision to block access could be devastating for sander's campaign, 40:33 this could have an incredibly crippling impact for the caucus 40:39 immediately they can't run walk list, call lists for the volunteers coming in this weekend. 40:45 they can't record whatever data they get from anybody they talk to. 40:50 since much of the caucus is on the ground

state lately. the hawkeyes don't have fewer fans, but they do have fewer fans going to home football games. iowa just finished a perfect 12 and oh regular season, but home attendance dropped 6%, most of that from frustrated season ticket holders who did not renew. should be a bounce back next year. only the night game against minnesota sold out. the cyclones only won 3 games, fired their head coach, and still spiked attendance 8%. a new stadium renovation, and more seats, helped. but 8 wins in 3 years and isu averaged

paris: there's a lot to do on a dairy farm. nobody's gonna do it for you. you have to get out there and do it yourself. bernie sanders is a well-known friend of family farms. bernie cannot be bought out by big money. bernie's opinion cannot be purchased. it's time for our next president to get in there, roll up his sleeves, take off the gloves, and take on wall street, take on big business, take on big money, and get the working class back to where they should be. he's a rock.
