woman drove her car on the sidewalk of the las vegas strip... the person dead... and six more are in critical condition this morning. she rode the sidewalk. she came to a stop right here at the paris intersection, and then she was like... people were punching the window trying to get the, apparently, child out of the back seat. she accelerated again and just kept mowing everyone down. people scrambled to stop the woman as she drove through more than two dozen people last night. police say she had a three year old with her in the car... who was not hurt. she was taken into custody. police are now checking to see if the woman had any drugs in her system at the time of the incident... again we want to pass along our thought and prayers to the victim, and to all of the other victims that were injured during this accident, our thoughts are prayers go out to the families. investigators are looking at surveillance video from the area... and
authorities are investigating a deadly crash in appanoose county... it happened along highway "j-5-t"... near centerville... early saturday morning. the iowa state patrol says 22 year old lucas buban was driving eastbound... when he lost control of his vehicle. buban was taken to the hospital but later died. he was not wearing his seat belt. a des moines teenager will answer to murder charges in court today. 17 year old josue socup is accused of killing 28 year old jose lopez. police say socup shot lopez after an argument early last month. socup's arraignment is set for 8-30 this morning. he's being held on a 500 thousand dollar bond. des moines police are still looking for the person who they say shot a private investigator... michael narin of ankeny says he was following a person into prospect park late friday night. he just got out of his car to break up a fight... when he says someone shot him in the stomach. he says the shooter got in a car and took off. narin has since been released
anyone with information is asked to call police. the spencer community is mourning the loss of high school wrestler. i really don't know what happened. it looked like things were going ok and then all of a sudden he was on the floor like there was nothing there left to give like he was completely worn out officials say austin roberts collapsed during a championship match at a tournament. he was taken to the hospital... where he later died... but there's still no word what happened to him. roberts was ranked sixth in class 3-1 at 220 pounds... he placed eighth at the state meet in february. the senior also played on the offensive and defensive lines for the football team. the superintendent says his death has been tough on his classmates... there were a lot of tears, a lot of hugs and those types of things, but there were also some laughs, talking about stories about austin. austin was a student that was bigger than life in many ways, a large young
pounder student, with a laugh as big as any room you can put him in. good kid! a go fund me page has been set up to support the roberts family. the page has already raised more than 26 thousand dollars. the madrid community is remembering a legend this morning... football and track coach randy hinkel died over he weekend. "k-w-b-gadi" reorts the cause was an apparent heart attack. two years ago hinkel became the 11th high school coach in state history to win 300 games. he coached at madrid for 29 years... and once led his team to a state championship. authorities are investigating the cause of a marshalltown house fire... it happened in the seven hundred block of 4th avenue saturday night. crews arrived to find smoke billowing out of the home... but were able to quickly get the flames under control. they say the fire started somewhere in the kitchen area. damage is estimated to be around
's te las day t wigh on the iowa d-n-r'sproposed alcohol policy... the department says it's fielding a growing number of complaints... many involving alcohol use and how its putting swimmers at risk. and history shows that alcohol policies can be beneficial... back in 20-11... the scott county conservation board voted to ban it from "buffalo shores" along the mississippi river. since then authorities haven't had any issues with underage driving. but beach goers seem to be torn on the issue... if there are ways for people to be responsible with alcohol or whatever else is available to those facilities its manageable but if there's issues or problems with that obviously you have to take those away. you can give your input on the policy through the end of the business day. just call or email... and that information is on the screen. the nightcap of the big four classic... turned into an

it is starting off foggy and damp on this 1st day of winter. steady rain will fallover the southern half of the state, withthe heaviest falling se of des moines early this morning. temperatures will remain above average over the 7-day, but rain has crept into the forecast for wednesday. rainfall totals of 0.25" or more will be possible, especially over eastern iowa. the timing of the storm will need to be monitored as well, as a chance for the rain to change to snow over western iowa is not completely out of the question. the forecast should be dry for christmas eve and christmas day, but more rain, especially in se iowa, will be likely over the weekend. hwy 69 nb/sb closed between us 6

production of hops increased 11 percent during the 2015 growing season, according usdas 2015 national hop report. production for idaho, oregon, and washington in 2015 totaled 78.8 million pounds, up 11 percent from 2014. production increased in all three states; 30 percent in oregon, 26 percent in idaho, and six percent in washington. acreage increased in all three states as well; 22 percent in oregon, 30 percent in idaho, and 11 percent in washington. washington growers produced 75 percent of the united states hop crop in 2015. the preliminary 2015 value of production of the united states hop crop is $345.4 million, up 33 percent from the revised 2014 value of $260.6 million. record high prices received by growers at the united states and washington levels were realized in 2015. the increased value is because of higher production and hop production shifting from alpha varieties to aroma varieties that are higher in value. more demand from the craft brewing sector has also increased prices for hops. we put stories up everyday
new hampshire school district... it comes just a week after similar threats targeted school districts in los angeles and new york. nashua police say a threat was emailed to the district and it was detailed enough to take action. they say the email contained specific planned acts against two schools in the area. that's why the superintendent made the decision to cancel all classes... out of an abundance of caution... there does seem to be a lot happening throughout the country and they are time consuming investigations but they are obviously important because they are talking about significant public safety and to that of the children. the school district includes 12 elementary schools... three middle schools... and two high schools. the friend and former neighbor of one of the san bernardino shooters is due in court. enrique marquez is charged with
terrorism"... and federal weapons charges. prosecutors say he purchased the two assault rifles used by syed farook and his wife, tashfeen malik, in the massacre that left 14 people dead and more than 20 wounded. his bail and detention hearing will take place later today. a young girl in tennessee is on a mission to spread christmas spirit... with shoe boxes. we did five hundred and three. five hundred! yes i'm hoping i'll get to do 20 thousand over the years. each year faith russell packs shoe boxes with gifts for "operation christmas child." the organization then sends the boxes all around the world to underprivileged kids. russell puts in the leg work to fill each one by completing five k's for gift donations. she just hit race number 22... an extraordinary task for any 10 year old...
