raked in almost four million in 2015... that up three percent from last year... his four million dollar paycheck breaks down to about 340-thousand per win. early last year espn named ferentz the most overpaid coach in college football. a des moines teenager is recovering this morning after being shot at a home on the city's north side... it happened yesterday afternoon around 1-30 in the 13- hundred block of east 14th street... someone drove the 14-year-old victim to the hospital... police say the teen was shot in the chest but is expected to survive. investigators have not named a suspect... or said what may have led to the shooting.. but they have been to the home before... on december first, police responded to a drive-by shooting at the same house. the caller told police a car drove by firing, then went into the alley behind the home and began firing again. no one was hurt in that shooting both sides of election 2016 are

2015 was a record breaking year for agriculture in iowa, with its own set of challenges. the iowa department of agriculture put out what it views as the top three issues of the year. calls the largest animal health emergency the first case of highly pathogenic avian influenza was confirmed in iowa. forty-eight million birds in 21 states would be affected, with nearly half of iowa's layers ending up with bird flu about 31 million birds on 77 locations. earlier in december, all bird flu quarantines were lifted and just this week, it was announced bird shows would be allowed again in the iowa department of agriculture was the iowa water quality

iowa secretary of agriculture around 1,800 farmers committed $3.5 million nutrient iowa's counties. nearly a thousand of those farmers were using conservation practices for the first time. they could use those funds for cover crops, no-till or strip till, or twenty- nine demonstration projects using $16 million of private funds also went to help start up and show off water quality practices. northey says nearly a third of a billion dollars of state and federal funds were directed to programs with water quality benefits in iowa in 2015. iowa also saw a record breaking year in 2015 crop production. a near ideal growing season in the state saw record corn and beans, the 2.49 billion bushel corn crop broke the previous record by four percent, and included a record shattering statewide average of 189 bushels per acre. iowa soybean producers harvested 550 million bushels of soybeans, five percent more than the previous record and also had a record statewide average yield of 56 bushels per acre.

things get underway at 10 a-m our time... right here on channel 13. later the hawks look for their first rose bowl victory since 1959... they take on stanford... at 4 o'clock this afternoon. a plot to bring terror on americans ringing in the new year has been stopped short this morning... that's after an ex-convict and alleged isis supporter was arrested for planning an attack at a new york bar on new year's eve... 25-year-old emanuel lutchman didn't know he was with an f-b-i informant when he went to buy supplies for the operation earlier this week. he reportedly bought ski masks, zip ties, knives, a machete, duct tape, ammonia and latex gloves. federal authorities arrested lutchman at his home wednesday. with a new year... comes new laws in many states... and many of them are focused on gun rights... starting today, texas will begin allowing some firearm owners to carry handguns openly in public places. under the texas law, guns can only be carried by those with licenses and gun holsters. meanwhile,
