so here's what people have been talking about while you were away. we see the globe as a family and the family is in distress, so we've been asked to help out and here we are dozens of reporters in boston worked double duty over the weekend. they delivered thousands of "boston globe" copies" to the doorsteps of subscribers. they globe recently switched to a different delivery company, and there have been issues ever since. so its employees decided to take matters into their own hands. it appears the force is still strong! "star wars: the force awakens" soared to its third straight weekend win at the box office. it brought in 88 point three million dollars, giving it a 17 day total of 740 million. that's just 20 million short of toppling "avatar" for the all time domestic record.

day in office, they're gone. the expected actions come ahead of the president's annual "state of the union address." that's set for january 12th. gun owners and dealers here in iowa may be impacted by the president's actions. elizabeth wadas has the story. erik lamere has been in the gun business for more than four years. lamere says in his shop... bunker hill trading company... he takes who he sells his firearms to very seriously. but recent talk of president obama possibly turning to an executive order to deal with gun limitations has lamere on edge... trying to sidestep congress is designed. i believe the president is there to do his work. we dont always agree with congress but they're the ones we elected to send there. and while lamere understands people's heightened fear of guns recently... he thinks a lot of it is all a political stunt. i think there's a lot of buzz words that make it good political topic and we're coming up into an election with shootings that occurred... this is a political gold mind. sources say president obama's main focus will be on expanding background checks and who is required to get them. right now... background checks are not a requirement in the private sale of a gun. but activists like lamere say there's other problems that need addressing... it's about the person who buys the gun. that's where we have to talk about mental health issues this

it's another single digit loss for the drake men's basketball team... they tried to shake a rough december at home against illinois state. in the 2nd half, reed timmer helped drake stay within striking distance. he racked up 16 points. karl madison and graham woodward weren't far behind. but the bulldogs had no answer for the redbird's devaugh akoon purcell. illinois state pulled out a win within the last few minutes of the game. those last two or three minutes of the game you have to have confidence in one another that the group of five can play as one. and even when something breaks down be able to talk and make a play. we have not been able to do that. drake is at home again on wednesday night against indiana
