treatment and for research into so called "smart" gun technology. finally, states will be encouraged to report people who should be kept from buying weapons. presidential candidates are split on the initiative... im for comprehensive background checks. i want to close the gun show loophole, the online loophole, what they call the charleston loophole. i want to end the immunity from liability that was given to the gunmakers and sellers, the only business in america that was given that. this is coming from a president who said, if you like your doctor, you can keep them. if you like your insurance company, you can keep them. now this like saying if you like your gun, you can keep it. i don't know if i completely trust that. this is something that needs to be worked out with congress. president obama will hold a one hour town hall on gun control thursday

the political firestorm over gun control will likely heat up the campaign trail in iowa... 4 presidential hopefuls will make more than a dozen stops throughout the state today. marco rubio, mike huckabee, and ted cruz represent the republicans. and it's just hillary clinton on the democratic side. we are now only 4 weeks away from the caucuses. local gun rights advocates also have something to say about the president's plans... obama is the best gun salesman in american history and there's some truth to that. im sure we will see a large crowd at gun shows across the state of iowa for the entirety of 20-16...and this should only accelerate that process. the "iowa gun owners group" executive director thinks the plans will increase attendance at gun shows. there are shows planned for every weekend this month in the metro. local permit to carry classes are also filling up. a des moines teenager will spend the rest of his life behind bars for killing his neighbor...

sentence for a murder charge in polk county court yesterday. makuey broke into the home of 97 his wife in july of 20-14... he attacked anderson with a spatula, killing him. anderson's wife was also injured. she died in march of last year. a boone man will spent at least the next 35 years in prison for something he says was an accident. i'm going off to prison for something that i did not do. and i don't fault you for believing whatever you believe at this point. i have no anger, no hatred because i'm going to prison and i know the truth and i have that inside of me. leigh lepon was sentenced in story county court yesterday for a second degree murder charge. lepon shot and killed devlin lockman back in december of 20-13. he describes lockman as a good

conviction and sentence. police have issued a material witness warrant in a des moines homicide... they're searching for alf freddie clark. he's wanted for questioning in a deadly shooting on december 27th. it happened in a hallway of this apartment building on south ununon street. one person was killed and another is recovering from gunshot wounds. police think clark may have information about what happened that night. he's not being considered a suspect at this time. it was a close call for employees and customers at a davenport store... police say a man crashed his car into the "brady mart" yesterday afternoon. he knocked down the doors and some shelves, but fortunately, no one was hurt. crews spent the rest of the day trying to clean up the mess, and witnesses spent the rest of the day trying to forget it. we heard this noise and all of us looked over towards the doors and here comes this big red car crashing through the glass and it was going everywhere just like in the movies and talked about
