in the trial of a man accused of a heinous crime. joe lopez is charged with first degree murder and child endangerment causing death. prosecutors say lopez assaulted his girlfriend's daughter in november of 20-14. the 1 year

fracture and broken ribs. the little girl later died at the hospital. he says she fell from her high chair...but prosecutors say her injuries aren't consistent with an accident. in waukee, the first man accused of murder in forty years appeared in court today... brendan mcguinness appeared at his pretrial hearing in dallas county this morning. police say he shot and killed a man in the driveway of the man's home back in november. mcguiness has pleaded not guilty. his trial is scheduled to begin february first. fort dodge police are investigating an incident that had two victims held at gunpoint. the incident started in the 6-hundred block of north 23rd street around 7 last night. and then police say the suspects forced one of the victims into his car and then drove him and another person to oleson park at gunpoint. the driver says he and another person were assaulted, and his vehicle

suspects. police say only one weapon was displayed. police have four suspects in custody. we will only show two since the others are minors... they arrested ricky riley and dakota marnach. both suspects were transferred to eldora police are still looking for a motive but say the victims and suspects know each other. a man in marshalltown is in jail today after police say he sexually assaulted a woman at the super 8 motel. 22-year-old dakota koehrsen of council bluffs was arrested just before midnight. he is now in the marshall county jail charged with third degree sexual abuse. a father and husband is being laid to rest next week after being crushed in a collapsed construction trench. justin jorgenson died near altoona on wednesday. he was installing sewer pipes in a 12- foot trench when the walls gave way..osha says the walls should have been stabilized but were

home back in november. mcguiness has pleaded not guilty. his trial is scheduled to begin february first. des moines police say a teen led officers on a high speed chase in a stolen vehicle overnight... police first noticed the vehicle on the east side...that had been reported stolen in wapello. when they tried to initiate a traffic stop, the driver sped up on university avenue toward pleasant hill. police say the driver ran over stop sticks...but continued going, through a neighborhood and then to highway 65. they finally caught up with the driver on interstate 80 after they say she crashed the truck she was driving. paramedics took her to the hospital. police say the 17 year old is expected to face charges after she is released from the hospital. fort dodge police are investigating an incident that had two victims held at gunpoint. it started in the 6-hundred block of north 23rd street

"whereas you ramp this up over time, you can really determine where the best use of your resources are." governor terry branstad wants to get reliable funding for water quality.. while adding a couple decades more of educational resource money. good afternoon.. this is the agribusiness report.. i'm david geiger. geiger. it was in discussions for several months but this week the governor announced a proposal he's working on that would fund both education and water quality until the mid-21st century. branstad says the nutrient reduction strategy is good.. but the problem was a lack of reliable funding.. in 2008 the governor and iowa congress passed a 20 year sales tax that would go to school infrastructure on a per student basis.. the governor now wants to extend

million dollars of growth every year to education.. using an average two point eight five percent annual any additional revenue would be the ongoing, permanent source of funding for the nutrient reduction strategy. "it would also go to point-source pollution as well as non-point. it would generate $20.7 billion dollars for schools over this period of time. and water quality." the water quality funding would start out small, but grow to be much larger.. governor branstad says this people working and eduction to get it through.. "it's a big bold plan, it's ever recommended as governor. you know, to deal with both school infrastructure, water quality, and to do it
