fire... chloe taylor woke up to the alarm in her apartment complex earlier this month. she grabbed coats and shoes for her family... and everyone got her mom credits the fire department for training her how to handle emergencies. if there's a fire and the fire alarms go off, they tend to hid under the bed, in closets, because they're scared. taylor was awarded the "hero award" yesterday.. she says it's the first trophy she's ever received. two people are facing charges after a high speed chase through urbandale. officers tried to stop a driver for a seat belt violation yesterday morning. police say he took off, then lost control at meredith and 83rd, before crashing into a garage. no one was injured police arrested 23 year old conor forrest at the scene. he's charged with "eluding" and "interference with official acts." a union county man will answer

today... jerry dillinger is charged with two counts of first degree murder. his arraignment is set for 9-30 this morning. police found one of the bodies in a pond near lorimor last month... that was his ex sister in law, 37 year old loretta dillenger. during that investigation they found a second, unidentified body. presidential candidates are pulling out all the stops as we near the caucus... but it appears the influence of one population could make all the difference. we expect at least 10,000 of our people to participate in our caucuses throughout the state. ten thousand latino participants is a big jump from just one thousand in 20-12. it's thanks in part to efforts by the league of united latino american citizens. the organization has been reaching out to latinos in seven hundred of the 17 hundred iowa precincts. officials say they want to build the caucus into the culture, so their

the way that our community celebrates dia de los muertos, three kings day, or even mothers day or fathers day, we want to make iowa caucus as part of your culture as part of our culture. and the latino community could have a big impact on the outcome... there are more than 50 thousand registered latino voters in iowa. a new poll shows a clear frontrunner among iowans on both sides... the "c-n-n / o-r-c" poll shows bernie sanders is sitting on top with 51 percent support in the state. that's eight percent above hillary clinton, the biggest lead any poll has given sanders since early september. martin o'malley still sits in the single digits. in the republican race, donald trump has a big lead overall, with 37 percent support from iowans. ted cruz sits with just 26 percent... and marco rubio received 14 percent. the other republicans didn't

d-c by sunday. the muscatine couty attorney says a deputy acted lawfully when he shot a man last week. eddie cardenas attempted to pull over 41 year old timothy seefeld, who refused to stop... the chase came to an end in a motel parking lot, where seefeldt hit the squad car, prompting cardenas to shoot. seefeldt was taken to the hospital, where he left against doctors advice. charges against him are pending. a measure to expand gun rights is advancing in the iowa legislature... a house panel signed off on the bill, which now heads to the full committee. the bill would specify that the state cannot restrict gun owners' lawful use of weapons during emergencies. current law allows leaders to do so. critics of the bill say such a situation would be rare. but supporters say it would protect second amendment rights. the governor and lieutenant

priorities for iowa education... governor branstad says he's committed to pushing the state's education system forward. that includes raising private funds for projects to make sure every 3rd grader is literate. meanwhile, lieutenant governor kim reynolds is pushing for more after school programs, summer camps, and clubs. we were able to reach over 100,000 students across the state of iowa almost all 336 schools have been impacted by the scale, scale up programs in some form or another and we're seeing results. both of them want 70 percent of enough training and education to be prepared for their future jobs. presidential candidates are pulling out all the stops as we near the caucus... but it appears the influence of one population could make all the difference. we expect at least 10,000 of our people to participate in our
