iowans are finally back home. lily kemp anxiously waits for her mother to arrive home. "boy, after being stuck that long, thinking about your family, thinking about what everyone is doing, eventhough everything is okay...it's still a llittle heart- wrenching to want to be with your family and be at home, so to see her having signs there waiting for me, that was...that was one of the best highlights coming home." jessica kemp is one of the dubuquer's stuck on the
turnpike for nearly 24 hours -- all because of the massive winter storm on the east coast. there were more than 200 of them -- of all ages. millions of people along the east coast are scrambling to dig themselves out of the snow and ice today. chris welch reports on the clean up latest. all along the east coast the diligent hum of digging can be heard... nats and scraping.. nats and of course plowing... crews trying to clear roads. cities like washington, baltimore and philadelphia are working to get metro, train and bus services up and running ahead of the monday morning commute. philadelphia this will be a long-term plowing and cleaning operation. hundreds of people worked around the clock and they will continue to do so.in new york -- even though the travel ban has been lifted and buses and most trains are operational-- residents to stay off the roads. leave your car where it is. today. unless you

forecast... fog and freezing drizzle are possible late tonight as the next system moves in for monday. temperatures will remain very mild overnight, but will drop throughout the early afternoon hours, so precipitation will start as a mixture of rain and freezing drizzle and transition over to light snow during the afternoon. snow totals will be less than 1" but roads still have the potential to be slick due to the mix of precipitation types. flurries will be possible on tuesday, but no additional accumulation is expected. the rest of the week looks dry and mild as temperatures will trend much warmer...even lower to middle 40s will be possible by the end of the work week and beginning of the weekend.

national guard combat engineer. . a 20-year-old university of iowa student recently becomes the first female iowa national guard combat engineer. megan reaska enlisted in december -- and attended her first basic training in iowa city this
weekend. she says the moment was both exciting and nerve racking. " i had no idea i was going to be the first female combat engineer in iowa. i had no idea, it was just kind of like a, kind of a surprise to me and it's such an honor to be the first female combat engineer in iowa and when he told me i was like wow, it's exciting, it's very exciting but no i had no idea." megan plans to continue school while serving. megen says her father was the first to encourage her to join the military, also her recruiter sergeant keeler was instrumental in getting her to where she is today. there were hundreds of dogs at the fairgrounds this weekend
