state and kansas. it's monday january 25th.. today in iowa starts now.... patchy dense fog and freezing drizzle are possible this morning. a winter weather advisory is in effect from 6 am to midnight for areas along and north of i-80. temperatures are starting off mild, but will drop slowly throughout the early afternoon hours, so precipitation will start as a mixture of rain and freezing drizzle and transition over to light snow during the afternoon. snow totals will be less than 1" but roads still have the potential to be slick due to the mix of precipitation types. the rest of the week looks dry and mild as temperatures will trend much warmer...even lower to middle 40s will be possible by the end of the work week and beginning

final frontier this morning... we're now exactly one week away from iowa's first in the nation caucus... and tonight all three democratic contenders come together in the metro for a cnn town hall. that's where we find channel 13's josh nguyen this morning. josh, this is the last time iowans will see these three side-by-side before caucus... is that right? setup started friday morning. a group of students were involved in the production. they were able to shadow all elements setup. classes will need to be canceled to accommodate with secret service. monday is the first day of class for students. tonight, all three democratic presidential candidates take part in a town hall in des moines. the prime time event will be hosted by the iowa democratic party and drake university. c-n-n anchor chris cuomo will be the moderator for the event. it will air from 8 to 10 p-m on

experience out of the three democratic candidates. hillary clinton is also getting a boost from the boston globe. the newspaper announced its pick yesterday... saying it "enthusiastically endorses her in the february 9th democratic primary in new hampshire." they go on to say she'd make a better president than her democratic rival, senator bernie sanders. they did not announce a pick for a republican candidate. the one week deadline is showing along the republican campaign trial as well... here's a look at today's parade of g-o-p contenders.... rick santorum... ben carson... ted cruz... mike huckabee... marco rubio... carly fiorina plus all three democratic candidates head to iowa. between the nine of them, they'll make 31 stops before the day is up. the campaign trail wasn't so rosy for one republican yesterday...

iowa gun buyers are being asked to be patient this morning... that's because the state is seeing an influx in sales and permit applications... in polk county, permit apps shot up by about 1-thousand last month. and area gun dealers say their sales have spiked by up to 30 percent since november. they say it's partly due to president obama's move to crack down on gun laws. cyclone fans are ready for another big monday to remember. so ready they're camped out waiting for it... dozens of tents stretch three-fourths of the way around hilton coliseum. we introduced these student campers friday.. and they're still there braving the cold. some have been camped out since last monday. even a fire inside one of the tents on friday morning couldn't keep them away. it's all in the name of getting the best seat possible when kansas comes to town. it's not too bad... we're hanging in there. it's freezing cold out here but you meet new people. and with
