debate... here's a look at today's parade of g-o-p contenders.... rick santorum... ben carson... ted cruz... mike huckabee... marco rubio... carly fiorina plus all three democratic candidates head to iowa. they'll make 31 stops before the day is up. we now know the name of des moines' first homicide victim of 2016.... the investigation started around 4-30 yesterday morning... that's when police found a woman's body in the 14-hundred block of pioneer road.. the woman has been identified as 71- year-old norma jean mcneeley... investigators have not released any other information about her death... and they do not have a suspect at this time... additional information is set to be released today at noon. metro travelers are home safe this morning after getting stranded in an east coast snowstorm... a caravan of iowans were visiting washington for a "march for life"

themselves stuck on the pennsylvania turnpike when the snowstorm jonas hit. they were locked in traffic for 23 hours. luckily they had plenty of snacks and a restroom on the charter buses. they returned home to their families yesterday evening in west des moines. another homecoming of sorts at carver-hawkeye arena this weekend... 9th ranked iowa back at home yesterday against number 22 purdue. 1st half. jarrod uthoff with the three-pointer... but the boilermakers answer... and lead 35-33 at the break. 2nd half though it's all iowa... widening their lead to 12... then 19. hawks win 83-71. iowa is now 7 and 0 in the big 10 for the first time in 46 years.

the identity of our team... we have so many guys that can do so many things. we have a lot of versatile guys on the team . the hawkeyes are primed for another big jump in the rankings, today...and they'll be put straight to the task of defending that ranking with another huge test on the road.. they head to 7th ranked maryland thursday night. tonight the attention heads back to ames where the cyclone men have a big opportunity at hilton coliseum... another big monday there... the cyclones take on kansas. tip off is set for 8pm. channel 13 sports will be there live all afternoon and evening.

a new spout of funding is ready for iowa fruit, vegetable, and horticulture growers. the usda agricultural marketing service announced iowa is getting $244,352.23 for specialty crop funding. iowa secretary of agriculture bill northey says this block grant supports food safety, research, marketing, and choice for iowans, because the funds are supposed to enhance competitiveness in the industry. universities, producers, industries, and community organizations are eligible to apply and grant awards will be
