side. how one group is making sure everyone knows how to caucus before they get here monday night. roads are still slick in parts of the state this morning. this afternoon will be cloudy and windy with a few flurries possible. the rest of the week looks dry and mild as temperatures will trend much warmer...even lower to middle 40s will be possible by the end of the work week and beginning of the weekend.

voters ask the questions... and they didn't hold back... hillary clinton was left defending why she should be the frontrunner for democrats... and senator bernie sanders used humor to solidify his position as an outsider. a new poll shows sanders back behind hillary clinton... but not by much. this who-hd poll has clinton leading by less than 3-percent. that's within the poll's margin of error. former maryland governor martin o'malley is a distant third with just one percent support. on the republican side... the poll had ted cruz remaining the front runner. a new poll shows where republicans fall... the cnn orc poll has trump with a significant lead nation-wide... trump come in with 41 percent. cruz gets 19. no other candidate received double digit support. that is consistent with last month's poll.

set to be released in about half an hour... we'll bring you those results as soon as they come in. a handful of candidates make another push to iowans today.. that includes all the front-runners... hillary clinton, bernie sanders, donald trump, and ted cruz all start canvasing the hawkeye state this morning... several other republicans also make stops... together the nine candidates will make a total of over 30 stops. all those trips lead up to the fast- approaching caucus day... but the process itself can be complicated for first-timers. so this morning, we sent josh nguyen down to capitol square to help simplify it. good morning, josh! a des moines school district employee is charged with

this morning... its started with this video... officials say it shows school bus attendant ruby taylor pinning a student in his seat... and pushing his head into a window. the district fired taylor... and school bus driver terri brown after

both have filed for unemployment.. now the administrative judge overseeing the case wants answers... 3605-do you think thats an appropriate way to restrain a child on a bus. no. why did you do it then? early on it's matt thomas buries the 3. the half would belong to kansas, though...jayhawks lead by 7 at the break. second half. the cyclones tighten up the defense and get their star, georges niang going..quick feet..he scores fifteen of his nineteen points in the second half.. cyclones eventually overtake the jayhawk's...montee morris with 21 points, abdul nader with 17..cyclones end up cruising to the 85-72 win...that iowa state resume starting to shine... they've now beaten number-one oklahoma, number-three iowa, and number-four kansas at hilton coliseum. those campers don't look so crazy after all. if you're still doing a double-take at the sound of "number-three iowa," don't worry...that's a sound that takes a bit of getting used to...after all...the state of iowa hasn't had an a-p top three basketball team since december 1987. the hawkeyes rose six spots in the latest ap poll...

iowa layers look to be finally on the road to recovery looking at the most recent national agriculture statistics service report. after about five months of the stagnating populations, the average number of layers on hand in december 2015 was almost 38 million, six percent higher from the previous month, and up from the low of 34 million after the bird flu epidemic. before the avian influenza hit iowa flocks last year, there were about 60 million hens in the state. iowa eggs produced also jumped up to about 812 million but it still has a way to go, 2014 produced 1.4 billion

for the elderly and disabled vets. i disagree. in fact, not onlyshould we not cut benefits -- we should expand them. my plan for social security increases benefitsand cost of living adjustments and raises minimum payments for low-income seniors. it will ensure that all seniors can retire with dignity and respect.
