a wapello county cold case isn't cold anymore... this is where two people were killed in a deadly fire in 20-06... this week police finally arrested two suspects. the iowa division of criminal investigation says the fire was intentionally set... and two people now face murder charges.

for years the cause of the fire remained 'undetermined' and the case went cold until some new information came to light... that information led to the arrest of these two men... 28 year old christopher yenger and 27 year old zachary dye. both were arrested yesterday and charged with two counts of felony murder each. authorities say back in march of 2006, the two intentionally set a house on fire on this property in rural wapello county... they say the men showed up uninvited to a 21st birthday party at the house. the next morning a neighbor reported the house was on fire but two men never made it out... 20 year old nathan messer and 22 year old seth anderson died of smoke inhalation. with no cause of the fire the case eventually went cold until new information revealed. 'here recently information was brought forward that alleged the fire was started intentionally by the individuals that were involved in physical altercation at the residence.' authorities say previous interviews from 2006 reported

fight with another party goer and was asked to leave the party. both yenger and dye are being held in the wapello county jail on a 500-thousand dollar bond each. presidential politics have overshadowed the work at the iowa statehouse... that's where the fight over school funding is well underway. the house already approved a 2- percent increase for schools. senate democrats plan to reject the proposal.. and send it to a conference committee. the committee would negotiate the size of the increase. democrats are calling for an additional four- percent. last year lawmakers approved a ten-cent gas tax increase... ways to spend it... the iowa d-o-t is in the process of studying the entire length of interstate-80... and considering the possibility of adding additional lanes. as part of the process the d-o-t wants your opinion. you can find a survey on the d-o-t's website. it includes questions about designated semi truck lanes... the removal of bridges over the
