nothing motivates you more to clean a business, than having a potential next president stop at your business. today hillary clinton made good on a promise to an adel man... visiting his bowling alley this morning. good evening. i'm erin kiernan. and i'm dan winters... its what makes the iowa caucuses unique... candidates reaching out to voters from an iowan's living room... or pizza ranch... or bowling alley... the adel family fun center served as the backdrop for hillary clinton's first campaign event this morning. clinton accepted an invitation to visit the business last spring... and her schedule. instead of bowling a few message... and pointed to policy differences between her and senator bernie sanders. 01:41-01:59 i'm advocating debt free tuition because college for everybody, including billionaires which i do not approve of - if you can

you should pay, but the vast majority of americans can't and if all you do is put more money in the system, you're never going to go after the costs. clinton is proposing a 350- billion dollar plan to subsidise the cost of a college education for students who can't afford it. clinton also now supports the idea of adding a seventh democratic debate. today she called on the d-n-c to sanction a debate in new hampshire prior to the state's primary. both bernie sanders and martin omalley have criticized the d-n-c for only holding six debates this election cycle. that's 20-fewer than 20-08. another reason clinton might want the debate... she's way behind in new hampshire. here are the three most recent polls from the state.... all three have her trailing between seven and sixteen points. senator sanders is a holding a campaign event in mason city tonight... his only other campaign stop was at the white house... sanders and his wife met with president obama this morning. sanders would only say the two quote, "talked a little bit about politics." sanders says he didn't ask the one

the president's endorsement. what the president has tried to do, what vice president biden has tried to do is to be as even-handed as they can be, and i know there was some discussion the other day about a political interview where he was tipping the scale toward secretary clinton. i don't believe that at all president obama says he's staying neutral in the race and will support whoever wins the nomination. a campaign rally last night ended with a night in jail for an iowa city man... 28-year old andrew alemao is charged with disoderly conduct. police say they witnessed him throwing tomatoes at donald trump during his rally at the university of iowa. alemao was released this morning without posting bond. during the event trump called several hawkeye football players and wrestlers up on stage... they presented him with a hawkeye jersey with his name on it. the endorsement raised concerns of a possible n-c-double-a violation. under n-c-a-a rules student athletes are not allowed to endorse a

a viewpoint on controversial issues of public importance. university of iowa athletics director gary barta says he's confident there was no violation. in a statement he writes, "university of iowa student-athletics are encouraged to participate in the political process as individuals. however, like any endorsement by a student or faculty member, their participation should not be considered representative of the entire team or university. barta also says the jersey trump received was not an official iowa football jersey. trump also released details of his anti-debate event tomorrow. instead of taking part.. he's hosting a rally to benefit veterans organization at drake university. doors open at five... and the event begins at eight... the same time as tomorrow's debate. doctor ben carson says trumps decision to skip the debate will simply mean more time for him to get his message out. carson is also offering up a

there's gonna be a big surprise that night and the day after. all you guys are going to be scratching your heads and saying 'what happened here?'i can virtually guarantee that that's gonna be the case. i just guarantee that you guys are going to be very surprised by the results. because the people, as i'm seeing them, as i'm going around, are waking up in droves former florida governor jeb bush says he's surprised by donald trump's decision to skip the debate. 26-42it just seems kind of weird. and the fact that he thinks he's being treated unfairly, when, if he's going to be president of the united states? life's unfair, you know. you got to make tough decisions, you have to challenge things, you have to deal with foreign leaders that don't all agree with you. you can't take your toys and go home." this afternoon jeb bush took his toys to nationwide insurance in des moines... during the event he labeled trump a false conservative and predicted he would cave and show up for tomorrow's debate. carly fiorina will appear in tomorrow's undercard debate...

community. you can't find a better citizen soldier than that." that's exactly what iowans learned today.. directly from the head of the iowa national guard... major general timothy orr addresed lawmakers today... during the condition of the guard address.. general orr celebrated the fact that women can now serve in any position within the guard. he also touted the benefits of the home base iowa program to help find jobs for iowa veterans. general orr says national guard members are taking advantage of all programs available to them. 11:22:06 "additionally, unit members earned more than 100 associates degrees in 2015 through the community college of the air force program, which ranked the 132nd first out of 90 air national guard units across the country." orr says 40-percent of the national guard are combat veterans... the highest percentage in the guard's history. following the condition of the

very personal issue facing some iowans... medical assisted suicide. its already legal in five states... and some lawmakers want iowa to be number six. stephanie moore has the story.. the "iowa death with dignity act" was introduced at the statehouse to a crowded room... 'aid in dying emphasizes autonomy and personal choice. it supports the right to make health care decisions in accordance with ones personal values, beliefs and wishes.' the bill would allow mentally capable, terminally ill adults to request medication they self administer for a peaceful death. several iowans came to testify in support of the bill including john tapscott of des moines. 'i support death with dignity options for iowans because i believe it is a basic human right to choose not only how we live but how we die.' tapscott served in the iowa house and senate in the 60's and 70's and says he's

movement for more than 40 years. now faced with his own terminal illness, tapscott says he understands even more the importance of this option. 'this last year helped me gain an even better understanding of the importance of having end of life choices. at this stage i know there are things far worse than death, such as the possibility of being totally incapacitated.' tapscott was joined by a few other terminally ill iowans hoping to have this as an option...including jennifer holm... 'when im not longer able to care for myself, when im sleeping all the time and i have no idea whos by my side and whos not and my quality of life is poor my body is shutting down, i dont want to drag out the inevitable.' the bill has several safe guards to ensure the patient always remains in control even in death...it's

'if this bill would become law, it is too late in my terminal illness for me to use, if i were so inclined; however, i hope that my end of life experiences might help others have this additional option. more testimony is expected when the bill is discussed in sub-committee. as far as other death with dying legislation, on top of the five that already have state law, 20 additional states have pending legislation. fireworks are also back on this year's legislative agenda... this morning a senate subcommittee approved a measure legalizing the sale and use of fireworks... under the bill... exploding fireworks would be allowed between 9- a-m and 10-p-m. those hours could be extended for certain holidays like the fourth of july. the measure also includes an "opt out" provision that would allow local governments to keep the current

temperatures will be mild overnight tonight and due to the melting we saw during the daytime hours, patchy fog is possible. we'll start thursday already in the upper 20s, but with a northwest wind temperatures will be just slightly cooler but not all that different. we'll see a mix of sun and clouds over the next several days and as winds shift toward the south for friday and saturday we'll see a big boost in temperatures will some of the warmest temperatures we have seen so far this year. sunday will bring a chance for a light rain/snow mix, but this is not expected to be significant. the bigger system will move in for tuesday when there is a potential for higher snow totals. being that it is still nearly a week out, there is still great uncertainty with is next system. be sure to

where quality healthcare will be a birthright of every citizen. where a good job is not a wish, but a reality. where women receive equal pay and a living wage is paid to all. an america where after a lifetime of labor, there is time for rest and grandchildren. a nation that defends our people and our values, but no longer carries so much of that burden alone. i know we can create that america if we listen to our hearts. and that journey begins here in iowa. i'm bernie sanders. i approve this message, and i ask you to join with us at the caucuses on monday night.

the hawkeyes haven't lost a basketball game in six weeks. iowa has won nine straight, but they're underdogs to make it ten. the hawks play at maryland tomorrow. unlike iowa, many college basketball insiders expected maryland would compete for a big ten title. the terrapins come off a loss at michigan state, and they don't have an impressive win yet, but they're favored at home.
