the officer using a technique called a pit maneuver. patrick: he hits the fleeing car making sure it crashes. , wisn 12 news nick bohr is live at loomis and 894 where that chase ended. nick, pit maneuvers are being used more and more. >> right. this is where that chase ended. the car ran off and into the grass. they were driving the wrong way on 27th street and drove nearly 100 miles per on the freeway in hour the stolen car. but greenfield trains officers on that pit technique that can quickly bring a chase to an end. >> get out of the car. >> the end of a high speed chase thursday came just two minutes after it started when a eeer on 27th street spotted a speeder who took off when he saw the squad

an automated camera system reading the plate lets the officer know the car is stolen. >> if you don't pullover, i will pit your car. >> seconds after that warning, the car slows down enough to safely do the pit. captain sean licht says they're using the pursuit intervention technique or pit only under certain circumstances. >> if the officer candidate for do so. we look for factors such as time of day, other vehicles around, pedestrian traffic. in this instance, it was the perfect opportunity. >> four suspects were quickly arrested. >> a bag of cocaine, gone with a laser sight. >> and police say dangerous suspects stopped. >> we want to stop these chases as soon as possible because we

surrounding public and our officers. >> the suspects arrested range in age from 22 to 26 and were wanted for a recklessly endangering safety case milwaukee, as well as a different police chase in brown deer, and at least two liquor store thefts here in greenfield. patrick: greenfield police aren't the only ones using the pit maneuver. this is video from earlier this moh. glendale police used a pit maneuver to try and stop a minivan. in that case, the van got through the blockade and reveed caught. kathy: breaking news, we just learned the driver of a stolen car caused this big wreck near 55th and villard this afternoon. milwaukee police tell 12 news, five people had to go to the hospital. luckily everyone is expected to survive. the driver of the stolen car ran off. police are looking for him tonight. more breaking news, a security breach involving thousands of patients at the medical college

early july. the email account contained full names, dates of birth, home addresses, medical record numbers, and codes or notes related to diagnosis or treatment. no health insurance, credit card, banking or other financial information was accessed. the medical college says about 3200 patients in all may be at risk. they've sent letters to all those involved. patrick: there will be no announcement today about what's next in the high-profile murder case against brendan dassey. a federal judgre threw out the murder conviction against the manitowoc county man and ordered him released from prison. dassey was serving a life sentence for the murder of terebachsa hal 12 news contacted the wisconsin attorney general's office after the attorney for dassey's uncle, steven avery, who's also convicted in the case, hinted on twitter that the attorney general would have a decision today. the ag's office tells wisn 12 news there would be no announcement. the state was given 90 days to decide whether to appeal the judge's decision, file new charges against dassey, or do nothing and let dassey walk out

ahead of tomorrow's big showdown between wisconsin and lsu at lambeau field. fans of both teams shared the patio this afternoon, sitting peacefully and enjoying lunch while wearing their teams' colors. >> a lot of purple and gold, i tell you. for a minute there i thought i was in minnesota country. they outnumber us pretty add here. it is kind of scary. >> it is always fun going to an away game. this is my t o i try to get to as many games as i can each year. patrick: the rally kicks off at 7:00. the u.w. marching band and u.w. athletic director barry alvarez are expected to be there. he's best known for this play, the kickoff return for a touchdown that helped the packers win super bowl 31. tonight, desmond howard is back in green bay for the wisconsin-lsu game as a member of espn's college gameday. as wisn 12 sports stephen watson reports only on 12, howard has fond memories of titletown.

howard's. first of all, how does it feel to be back in wisconsin? >> it feels great to be back here, some wonderful memories, just driving down some of these streets, i reminisce with my years playing with the packers. it is special to be here. i feel blessed. >> when you look back at your nfl career, what does this place mean to you? >> wow i, don't think oh, man, -- you can put that into words. it is a very rare, unique, and special accomplishment. like i said, i feel blessed to have been able to do that. >> what is the one thing you

to come back often at all because of my job. i travel every weekend. going to lambeau field, it was so special to go into lambeau field with a couple of producers and see their reaction. it was like a moment when they stepped into lambeau field feared that was like a moment. it was tremendous for me to witness it. >> how about the cheesecake? >> when you travel like i do, you have to watch your diet. >> time. college game day, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on saturday. >> thank you. kathy: the packers are using tomorrow's game as an opportunity to help flood victims in louisiana. the team along with its concessions company and the game's sponsor have teamed up to donate $55,000 to the red cross to help with flood relief. red cross volunteers will be collecting cash donations at the lambeau gates before tomorrow's game. more than 110,000 homes were

patrick: new at 6:00, don't look down. that's the advice for those going over the edge at miller park. the annual fundraiser for special olympics challenges people to rappel 10 stories down the outside of the ballpark. the actual event will be held tomorrow morning. this afternoon, we got a special preview. >> we get to go vegan's boards we might never have done in high school. -- we get to compete in events we might never have done in high school. patrick: special olympics hopes to raise $20,000 with the rappel at miller park. there are 10,000 special olympics athletes in wisconsin. new at 6:00, thousands of harley riders have made their way to this part of wisconsin. kathy: i am sure you have heard.

harley dealerships. this was the scene this afternoon at the house of harley at 62nd and layton. harley enthusiasts enjoying good food, checking out the harley accessories, and getting an up close look at harley's new milwaukee eight engines. >> you have to ride it to know it. you will never go back to an old engine once you have tried a milwaukee eight. it is amazing. kathy: the house of harley is grand funk railroad. ? kathy: the sounds of scotland comes to waukesha. the wisconsin highland games got underway about an hour ago at the waukesha county expo center. try your hand at axe or knife throwing or sit back and have a pint while watching others. not the kids. the kids don't have a pint. kids 12 and under get in free.

third ward for the annual art festival. it runs tomorrow and 36 of the sunday. artists are from right here in wisconsin, showing everything from jewelry to pottery and photography. enjoy this weekend while you can. we spotted two sure signs around town today that summer is coming to an end. patrick: the first, the giant pumpkin is already up at state fair park. newschopper 12 flew over it earlier today. there's a halloween costume store inside the big orange tent. along i-94 through halloween. and here's a sight that might get a chilly reception. newschopper 12 this morning caught this big ship unloading salt at jones island. the ship brought loads of road salt to add to an already large pile. there's no reason to rush it though. there's still warmth in the forecast. lindsey: is for a bunch of steak .

let's not talk about snow. lindsey: let's not. i'm starting you off with the labor day forecast. here is saturday, ever 70's, low 80's. this is across the entire state. i have you covered. there are not a lot of issue nothing to worry about. don't forget your bug spray. sunday, you can see a touch warmer. monday will be warmer than that. if you will be hanging out along the coast of lake michigan, make sure that you are aware of what is happening. the wind may be breezier along the shore, so we may have issues

green bay in sheboygan. keep that in mind. happening right now, south and north carolina getting hammered from what is now tropical storm hermine. she will work her way up the coast and bring in storm surges, 6-10 inches of rain. hermine allows our high pressure system to stay here. a cold front in the dakotas now, but because hermine is holding high pressure hostage, this cold front will not make it here until tuesday. because of hermine and h slow she is moving, that is why we are in a good spot right now. that's why we don't have a lot of issues. the rest of this evening and overnight, no problems, clouds

sunday, the same deal. it might be windy towards the west because the cold front is getting closer, but nothing really big happening along lake michigan, milwaukee. thumbs up. looks good. here is 12:30 p.m. sunday, expect a couple of showers in the northwest part of the state. that is the beginning of that cold front, but most of it will be in the west sunday night. monday, we are getting toasty, and you can see that cold front, that fake temperature contrast, that is where it is. it's not getting into wisconsin until monday night and tuesday, so the muggy meter over the next couple of days will become fee. tuesday, you will feel the stickiness bill then. -- build in.

most loyal fan bases in college football. to have them both here is really special. stephanie: that's espn college game day host rece davis talking about wisconsin and lsu kicking off tomorrow at lambeau field. earlier today, the badger football players got the chance to walk on the not so frozen tundra in green bay. the showdown against the tigers takes place at 2:30 tomorrow right here on wisn 12. as for the packers, their preseason came to close last night in kansas city with the 17-7 loss to the chiefs. after the game, clay matthews and julius peppers talked to the media for the first time since the first day of training camp, their ped problems put to bed as the nfl cleared them earleir this week. >> i maintained my innocence. i had nothing to worry about. we set down for the interviews and are in the clear.
