you for watching and good night. some of america's top journalists are giving their take on this year's presidential election -- right here in the palmetto state. judi gatson is reporting from the university of south carolina. judi -- the panelists include philip rucker of the washington post, valerie bauerlein of the wall street journal, ron brownstein of the national journal and craig melvin of nbc news. dean charles bierbauer of the college of information and communications will moderate. joining me now is dean bierbauer and usc professor don fowler. the event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7:30 p.m.

in charleston. so far, republican front-runner donald trump is the only candidate to commit to it. the town hall will start at 8pm. trump will take questions from voters. also -- msnbc has announced a democratic presidential town hall thursday night with hillary clinton and bernie sanders. the town hall in las vegas comes two days before the nevada caucus. it will be in english on msnbc and in spanish on telemundo. coverage starts at 8 p.m. it will stream live on wistv.com. right now -- donald trump is holding a rally in beaufort. john kasich is speaking at a lexington county town hall in cayce.

presidential candidates are pounding the campaign trail in south carolina ahead of the start of the first in the south primaries beginning this saturday. senator ted cruz stopped at wis today. and charles spoke with the presidential hopeful. dawndy one of the things cruz and i talked about was plans he rolled out to rebuild the military. that included increasing the

ships, and air power to keep the country safe. well, for seven years, we've seen obama dramatically decrease our military readiness. we've seen him pull $1 trillion out of the military, and, right now, we have the smallest navy since 1917. we've seen our air force... you know, back in 1991, the first persian golf war, we had about 8000 claims today we've got about 4000 in the active air force. we've seen our army, president obama has proposed reducing it down to 450,000 soldiers. that is far too little to keep this serious plan to rebuild the military. cruz pointed out his plans would make major investments in missile defense, and counter cyber terrorism and cybercrime. meanwhile -- a new south carolina poll continues to find donald trump with a wide lead in the state. according to public policy polling... trump is at 35 percent. experts with public policy say

consistent it is across different demographics. they say he doesn't seem to have lost any support in the palmetto state following saturday night's debate. his nearest competitors are ted cruz and marco rubio, each coming in at 18 percent. john kasich coming in at 10 percent. jeb bush and ben carson, both coming in at 7 percent. on the democratic side hillary clinton is still leading bernie sanders in south carolina. their latest poll has clinton at 55 percent. sanders at 34. public policy experts say south carolina exemplifies the way in which the democratic race changes in places where there's a large african american electorate. among african americans, clinton continues to have a substantial advantage over sanders . clinton at 63 to sanders 23 percent. .

recover from yesterday's 50 pullups, so i pulled out... my p90x dvds. there's an entire set for several different workouts. i love these for when i can't get to a gym or outside for the workout. today i did the nearly hour-long stretch dvd. it starts you with some deep breathing and stretching of the neck, back, chest and arms. and then includes the legs. personal trainer tony horton is known for some goofy quotes, but some really solid exercises for the entire body. i find this dvd fitness program a great complement to your other favorite exercise activities. and it was a legit, yet relaxing workout for day six of 50 days to 50 years. still ahead -- voters in the

conference. the gamecocks gained at least a share of the title last night with a victory at tennessee. the carolina ladies beat the vols 62-56 to ensure that usc will have at least a piece of the sec title for the third straight year. the gamecocks can win the outright title with a victory at home thursday against the georgia bulldogs. the program has come a long way under head coach dawn staley now in her 8th season. she started off with two losing seasons.....now she's hoping for a repeat trip to the final four. dawn:i mean it's pretty special...the players that have come and gone.... that have graduated from south carolina. they've left a legacy they've put us in this situation...i'm very happy for the history of our program.

graduated from south carolina. they've left a legacy they've understand what south carolina women's basketball is all about. a lot of people can't say they've done that in college. so it's a great feeling..knowing that we got that done at south carolina. we're expecting former usc linebackers coach kirk botkin to soon have a new job. according to a source....botkin will be named the defensive coordinator at south carolina state. botkin spent the past t ur seasons with the gamecocks. he was not retained when will muschamp took over as head coach in december. during botkins tenure with usc...the team had three winning seasons capped with bowl victories in 2012, 13 and 14. we expect the announcement of botkin's hiring to come in a day or two. the gamecocks will start the baseball season friday....another spring sport will soon start also....football! usc co-offensive coordinator kurt roper tweeted out the gamecocks spring football practice schedule today. carolina's first of 15 workouts will be march 15th.
