we are following two big stories this morning --- and we have a team of reporters on milwaukee's north side. our deandra corinthios is covering the unrest in milwaukee... and the end of a curfew in sherman park. and just blocks away our derica williams is getting updates after a fire destroyed a house overnight. let's start with derica who 's near 50th and clarke. assisting five adults and one child after two homes were damaged by fire early tuesday morning, august

was called out to the scene of a fire at a vacant home near 50th and clarke around 4:30 a.m. officials say a neighboring home sustained significant damage. when crews arrived on scene, the second floor of the vacant home was engulfed in flames. officials say that home is destroyed. investigators say significant damaged was sustained to a neighboring home. five adults and one child were removed from that home. no one was injured. deputy chief when we arrived it was completely involved, all floors-- complete damage on that building, the exposure building we removed occupants from some damage won't be a total loss neighbor i hope it's just an abandoned house, i don't want yone to displace their family.er ad so i just ho at whoever is that they're ok. the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under

...from saturday and sunday nights. milwaukee police chief ed flynn and mayor tom barrett say the response from the faith community has played a major role in keeping the sherman park neighborhood peaceful. prayer vigils and barbecues took place ...near the bp gas station that was torched. still...milwaukee police kept a large number of foot officers available and ready for rapid deployment ..and continue to moniter the area. sherman park closed at 6 pm. the 10 pm curfew for teens is making a difference too. 21 52 15/barrett were going to have it as long as it is necessary and again initially indications are it has worked well 21 48 28/flynn we did have some confrontations with individuals that were heated we made a half a dozen arrests that seemed to have some impact but again we had folks from the

tensions within the group that had assembled sherman park closed at 6 pm...and will re open at 6 am. mayor barrett also commended the efforts of police officers...and firefighters crediting them as well for a calmer night. reporting live in milwaukee dc fox6 news strong in the midst of the unrest. many came out yesterday to show their support for the sherman park area and businesses. several pastors held a faith gathering not far away in an effort to keep the peace . being in your house and your parents knowing where you are is very important i would not dare let my children be out past 10 at night. a kind word epically a powerful spirit in the air will certainly put people in the right perspective

continue to outreach and say making a difference may not happen overnight, btu feel overtime their impact will be felt. an officer involved shooting happening this past weekend sparked all of the violence in the sherman park neighborhood. now we are learning about a past connection between the suspect and officer. angelica joins us now with details on the relationship. we've learned that sylville smith and the officer went to the same high school. sherelle smith says they both w not releasing the name of the officer-- saying threats have been made against him. police say the officer's body camera shows smith was fleeing with a gun in his hand and turned back toward the officer before the shooting. smith says she is angry as anyone but does not want to see any more violence... i want you to think before yall act. because the change gotta come from us. you know, we all gotta

overturned last friday. he and his uncle - steven avery - were convicted of the murder of theresa halbach back in 2005. dassey was 16-years-old at the time...and some of his police interviews were shown in netflix's documentary "making a murderer." dassey's lawyer talks about what it was like to hear about the overturned conviction for the first time. "the first emotion was emotion was gratitude and joy and relief. i had tears in my eyes this was a just result that is long overdue"jessob/voth e federal judge says "the investigators repeatedly claimed to already know what happened on october 31 and assured dassey that about." plus, "no supportive adult" was with him. dassey could be freed in less than 90 days unless prosecutors decide to retry him. the packers preseason continues this thursday up in green bay. coming up on wake up --- why there could be some parking

night...but it was way calmer than over the weekend. our deandra corinthios is live in sherman park. a much different night than the last two here at sherman park a curfew was in effect overnight... and milwaukee police chief ed flynn credits faith and community leaders...as well as the restraint from his officers...in keeping the milwaukee police were prepared monday night into tuesday morning for more violence. there were a large number of foot officers available.... but chief flynn says things played out better --which just half a dozen arrests and far fewer clashes with angry crowds. the arrests took place around 6 pm...when the sherman park closed. chief flynn and mayor tom barrett both...commended faith leaders and community members for spreading a message of peace...they say so

enforcement agencies are on high alert. angelica is here with details on a new threat. threats for more riots have been flooding social media --- this time targeting milwaukee's surrounding suburbs. cudahy and franklin police among the departments that say they're aware of the threats...and investigating them. west allis police issuing the following statement: "the w-a-p-d has contingencies to respond to events that may occur in the city and assist other law enforcement agencies as requested." k first hand the destruction riots can bring.. his agency sent deputies to help out during the violent weekend. "they saw these people breaking cinder blocks in the road, throwing them in cars, throwing them at police cars, throwing them at the officers, throwing them at our bear cat, lighting things on fire." wisconsin state patrol has also been on standby. troopers were called in and drove to the milwaukee area last night just

working to clean up after the violent protests over the weekend. surveillance video shows some of the damage that was done by looting. this video, from inside a metro p-c-s store shows a group of people breaking into the store... going through boxes looking for cell phones and other items to steal. officials say a total of six businesses were destroyed in fires from saturday night into sunday morning. meanwhile, some business owners in the sherman park neighborhood are trying to remain optimistic. the ow grocery and tobacco store returned to work yesterday...to discover more damage to their store front. several windows were busted out and broken from bricks and rocks thrown at the building. they closed early sunday night as crowds started to gather and become unruly. the store owner says he can thank his loyal customers for stepping in to save his store. 'they were talking about it every time they come in here, like yeah, we told them to stop, this is our neighborhood stop. it felt
