devastation caused. as you cans see -- the quake leveling buildings in several towns... .and leaving streets... littered with debris. some residents were reportedly buried under collapsed buildings. the aftershocks were reportedly felt in rome -- which is about 100 miles away. the region is the same one that endured an earthquake back in 20-09 that left more than 300 people dead. we will continue to follow the developments on this breaking news some news from overnight...police investigating a shooting near the same intersection syville smith was shot by a milwaukee police officer. we're told that a 19-year-old man was sitting in a car near 44th and auer around 10 -- when a suspect fired several shots into the car. a friend drove the victim to the hospital -- and police say the man received a "very serious gunshot wound"...but that he is expected

hit and run that has a little girl fighting for her life this morning. it happened at 27th and burleigh deandra corinthios is live from m-p-d's district 5 with the latest milwaukee police say the 11 year old girl was hit by a car when she was trying to cross the street. she is now in critical condition. milwaukee police were called to the intersection of 27th and burleigh around 7:30 p-m tuesday night. we're told this was a car versus bike accident. police say t was crossing the street when a car hit her ...then took off. the victim was taken to children's hospital ..where again...she is in critical condition. police are looking for the driver. we're working on getting a description of the car. reporting live from milwaukee police district 5, deandra corinthios, fox6 news. a toddler is dead after apparently getting stuck in a first-floor window of a home.

neighbors say a window fell on the two-and-a-half year old boy. family members tell fox 6 there were no adults home at the time of the incident...and the boy was being watched by teenagers when he apparently wandered away. police continue to investigate. a 65-year-old man is facing charges -- accused of shooting and killing a passerby outside the milwaukee police district 6 headquarters. "randall drescher" says he was there to buy a gun from somebody he met online. at some point, the victim -- 42-year-old reed carlsen walked by. an argument started--carlsen -- and then reportedly charged at him. according to prosecutors -- drescher says he feared for his life and opened fire. moments later -- he turned himself into police. drescher is now charged with first degree reckless homicide. in riverwest-- half a dozen cars broken into in one night. it happened in the area of humboldt -- just south of capitol. police say all six of the vehicles were locked -- and their windows were smashed. the cars were ransacked and items were stolen from inside. police are still looking the cars were ransacked and the cars were ransacked and

suspects. police in racine county are investigating a series of home burglaries. in the last month or two -- five homes in this highlighted area have been hit. four are in the village of mount pleasant -- one is in the city of racine. the suspects forced entry through either front doors, garage service doors, or through windows. neighbors are asked to report anything suspicious to police. an exciting day ahead for marquette students-- it's move in day. their dorms at eight this morning. the incoming class has more than two- thousand students...coming from 41 states and 22 countries. keep in mind-- there may be some heavier traffic around the university as students get ready for the new school year. still ahead -- we continue to follow breaking news out of italy -- where at least 37 people are dead following a massive earthquake. in sheboygan -- two brothers are accused of sexually assaulting a woman. the charges the men are now facing.

officer, but when she got in the car, they took her to two liquor stores and got her drunk. investigators believe the woman was already high or intoxicated when this happened. prosecutors say the both men sexually assaulted the woman. she was able to give investigators descriptions of both suspects in large part due to their face tattoos. nathan haberman, asst. district atty., sheboygan county nh 'its clear this was a non-consensual activity where i believe they fed her some alcohol to increase her level of intoxication or impairment.' girlfriend of one of the brothers was set to give birth to their child the day this incident allegedly occurred. new information now on a deadly kidnapping case out of minnesota. it was a tip from the suspect's father that led police to where the man was hiding...and where the girl's body was found. 5-year-old alayna was allegedly taken by family friend zachary anderson saturday morning in meeker county. an amber alert was

family's cabin in cass county. according to the criminal complaint...anderson's dad told investigators his son called to ask permission to go to the cabin. officers entered the cabin where they found an apparent suicide note. they then made contact with the suspect in a swampy area. the complaint says anderson told police where alayna's body was. her body was found submerged in water and hidden under some brush and other debris. anderson has been charged with murder, criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and motor vehicle theft. facebook video shows a toddler possibly getting high from adults around him smoking marijuana. more on the arrests made - just ahead. and hackers may have targeted new york times reporters. who u-s officials believe is

are working to pull surivivors from the rubble. we'll continue to follow this developing story on wakeup this morning. be sure to check fox6 now dot com or the fox 6 news app for the latest. police are questioning a person who may be connected to a large apartment fire in chicago that killed a man and three children. the fire started yesterday morning at an apartment building in a south chicago neighborhood. the body of the man was discovered in one apartment... and the bodies of two children were found in another. baby was also taken to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. police say a preliminary investigation indicates someone returned to the apartment building after a domestic dispute and set fire in two places -- that left residents no way out but their windows. one person is dead and dozens injured after two bombs explode in southern thailand. this all happened near a hotel overnight. officials say the blasts were 20 minutes apart....the first blast... going off in a parking lot behind the southern

building due to the damage. the neighbor and the tree cutter ended up getting into an altercation. the tree cutter is now in jail...charged with assault and harrassment. and a man in philadelphia learned the hard way why jumping in between buildings is not a good idea. police say the man had met a woman at a nearby business and took her up to a building rooftop. that's where he decided to impress his new date by jumping from one building rooftop to another. well it didn't work out so well. turns out the man missed his landing... fell... and wound up wedged i the buildings. the woman, immediately called fell... and wound up wedged in fell... and wound up wedged in between the buildings. the woman, immediately called police, who spent more than three hours trying to free him. eventually the officers removed bricks and went through the wall of a nearby restaurant --- to pull the man out. the man was taken to the hospital with an injured ankle. no word if he will face any charges. all anchors chat/toss to 6am
