felt several hundred miles away in thailand's capital, bangkok. so for no word on damage or injuries. this all happening after a powerful earthquake strikes italy overnight. dozens of people are dead and many more injured. angelica is following the breaking developments from the newsroom. terrified residents huddled outside collapsed buildings overnight as the death toll climbed steadily. right now officials say 38 people are dead. here's a live look at the destruction. the six- point-two magnitude quake struck roughly six miles southeast of the town of norcia. tremors were felt all the way in rome, about a hundred miles away. the initial quake was followed by a five- point-five magnitude aftershock about an hour later... michael gilroy -- an american traveling overseas --- reflects on the chaos. voice of michael gilroy / witness "we ran out to the main area where there's a big chandelier and the chandelier was just swaying back and forth and at that point we knew you know and just tried to get

the mayor of amatrice ah-mah-tree'-cheh says his town is completely gone.this morning crews continue to search for survivors buried under collapsed buildings. you can see one person on a stretcher after being pulled from the rubble. italy sits on two active fault lines... making it one of the most prone areas in europe to earthquakes. the last major earthquake struck the peninsula back in 2009 and killed more than three hundred people. investigating an overnight shooting in the sherman park neighborhood. around ten last night officers were called to the area near 44th and auer. that's the same intersection syville smith was shot by a milwaukee police officer on august 13th. we're told a 19-year-old man was sitting in a car last night when a suspect fired several shots into the car. a friend drove the victim to the hospital. police say his injuries are very

survive. and in kenosha -- a shooting victim recovering this morning after being shot in the leg. this happened near 22nd avenue and 57th street. police not releasing many details about this investigation. we'll bring you any updates as soon as they come into our newsroom. new this morning --- a child is in critical condition after a hit and run crash it happened on milwaukee's north side. deandra corinthios is live from m-p-d's district 5 with the latest children's hospital... she was hit by a car at the intersection of 27th and burleigh... the crash happened at 7:30 pm. we're told it was a car versus bicycle accident. police say their initial investigation shows the child was attempting to cross the street when she was hit the car fled from the scene. the child was taken to the hospital. at this point we don't have a description of the car

deandra corinthios fox6 news a young boy is dead after his head became stuck in a window. it appears the child may have tried to climb out a window and became trapped. neighbors say the boy may have been stuck for sometime, unable to breath before he was found hanging in the window. family members say this is the little boy's grandmothers house.. but that no adults were home at the time. the child was being watched by some young teens. neighbors rushed to help when they heard screams, and began c-p-r but they say there was nothing they could do. police say they continue to investigate the cause. officials say no one is being held in custody. a scary night for a fans at miller park. a woman was hit by a line drive down the third base line in the second inning. the game was delayed for a couple of minutes. brewers officials say the fan was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital. the brewers extended the netting at miller park before the season started to the inside edge of each dugout.

suspects are in custody. police say they stole a car...and then were attempting to carjack another vehicle -- when they were spotted by a officers the suspects ran away -- but police were able to catch them. both vehicles were found. no one was hurt in the incidents. police are investigating. an update now on the fatal fire investigation in sheboygan. we now know the name of the woman killed in the blaze. officials have identified her as 62- year-old deborah marsh. authorities say the fire broke out around four sunday morning at the ember's apartments. marsh's body was preliminary autopsy findings indicate marsh died of smoke and soot inhalation from the fire. investigators continue to look into what caused the fire...but it is not beleived to be suspicious. the state fire marshall continues to investigate. we are learning more details about a number of car break-ins happening in riverwest. it happened monday night in the area of humboldt -- just south of capitol. police say all six of the vehicles were locked -- and their windows were smashed. the cars were ransacked and items

suspects. and police in racine county are investigating a series of home burglaries. in the last month or two -- five homes in this highlighted area have been hit. four are in the village of mount pleasant -- one is in the city of racine. the suspects broke in through either front doors, garage service doors, or through windows. neighbors are asked to report anything suspicious to police. looing ahead -- it's move in day for marquette students! they can start moving into their the incoming class has more than two- thousand students...coming from 41 states and 22 countries. keep in mind-- there may be some heavier traffic around the university as students get ready for the new school year. hillary clinton hangs out with hollywood's hottest stars.. ahead on wake up --- the mind blowing price tag to attend the campaign fundraiser. and this guy in florida showing his support for donald trump in a wild way. coming up what people are saying

man was sitting in a car near 44th and auer around 10 -- when a suspect fired several shots into the car. a friend drove the victim to the hospital -- and police say the man received a "very serious gunshot wound"...but that he is expected to survive. milwaukee police investigating a hit and run that has a little girl fighting for her life this morning. it happened at 27th and burleigh deandra corinthios is live from m-p-d's district 5 with the latest milwaukee police sayth she was trying to cross the street. she is now in critical condition. milwaukee police were called to the intersection of 27th and burleigh around 7:30 p-m tuesday night. we're told this was a car versus bike accident. police say the victim was crossing the street when a car hit her ...then took off. the victim was taken to children's hospital ..where again...she is in critical condition. police are looking for the driver. we're working on getting

milwaukee police district 5, deandra corinthios, fox6 news. two brothers in sheboygan are facing charges after they are accused of sexually assaulting a woman. nh 'the victim describes being taken to a park area and being assaulted by individuals in the back seat of that car.' clemente and julio rojas face 'second degree sexual assault charges.' prosecutors say the men offered a 21- year old woman ar probation officer, but when she got in the car, they took her to two liquor stores and got her drunk. investigators believe the woman was already high or intoxicated when this happened. prosecutors say that both men sexually assaulted the woman. she was able to give investigators descriptions of both suspects in large part due to their face tattoos. nh 'its clear this was a non-consensual activity where i believe they fed her some alcohol to increase her level of

girlfriend of one of the brothers was set to give birth to their child the day this incident allegedly occurred. now the latest on a new public safety action plan for the city of milwaukee. lets start the conversation, and then lets take the evidence, lets take the data, and make adjustments based on what the proposal calls for adding 280 new officers and improving police and community relations.... as well as outlines ways to bolster 9-1-1 dispatch. it aims to strengthen dispatch center staffing and increase salaries. the plan also looks to consolidate police and fire department dispatch centers. it was released on the same day recruitment was taking place in an effort to hire 35 new 9-1-1 operators. police could not speak to specifics of the plan-- but would say a strong dispatch center is

ammunition to her opponent, donald trump, who says the justice department should appoint a special counsel to investigate. trump: "it is now abundantly clear that the clintons set up business to profit from public office." but was this really a case of pay-to-play? the clinton campaign pushing back -- saying the data is flawed because it only includes private individuals, not government officials -- and that there is no evidence that anyone got anything beyond access. but of those 85 who met with clinton a clinton foundation more than one hundred thousand dollars... and 20 gave more than a million. constitutional law professor jonathan turley says it represents a serious problem. turley: "i think the appearance alone says that the public interest would be served with the appointment of special counsel. and the odds of that happening? not high." not likely that we'll see a special prosecutor -- but it may further erode trust... in an election where both candidates are facing serious trust
