a car involved in an overnight hit and run. julie collins joins us from the police department with details - julie? it was around 1:30 this morning police were called to the area of atkinson and capitol. a 45-year old man was hit police believe the car continued east on capital after hitting the man police say the victim is intoxicated however, its unknown if he was attempting to cross the street or if he was just so intoxicated and wandering around the street. the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. officers are with him and will interview him this morning to get more details. no arrests have been made -- anyone with information about

contact police. reporting live, julie collins, fox6 news. a student is recovering ... after a bullet grazes her while in school. now police are trying to figure out how an officer's gun went off. it happened yesterday afternoon at thoreau elementary. police say the supervisor of trying to speak with the 13-year-old female student about an incident that occurred several days ago. banks says thats when the girl became physically combative. police say the incident took place in the basement of the school -- away from other students and staff members. the girl was taken to the hospital and is expected to be o-k. the incident is not being investigated as an officer involved shooting. the officer is not being placed on any kind of leave. students at st. catherine high school in racine were sent home early yesterday after a concerning message was found on a desk.

dismissed classes early and police were called to search the building. authorities have not said exactly what was written on the desk. we now know why an inmate in the milwaukee county jail died in his cell. the medical examiners office says his cause of death was dehydration. terrill thomas was found dead in his cell back in april. he was arrested less than two weeks earlier on charges of shooting a man outside his home -- then firing a gun inside potowatomi casino. the m-es report says thomas was kept in solitary confinement over his also notes he has a history of mental health issues. we talked to the thomas familys attorney, whos based in seattle. he says theyre conducting a private investigation of their own. "from what we understand, and we are still looking into this, the water in terrill thomas water was shut off and he was deprived of a life source." the m-es report does state water was cut off to thomas toilet.

getting started --- and the cooking mom is here with some perfect food for the packers' game this sunday night. good morning! ingredients: 1 can 16 ounces refried beans1 teaspoon garlic powder 2 cups sour and chunky green salsa 3 to 4 cups shredded lettuce 1 1/2 to 2 cups shredded cheddar, monterey jack or mexican blend cheese 3 to 4 scallions, chopped 2 to 4 fresh jalapeno peppers, chopped or sliced optional directions: mix the beans with garlic powder. spread on the bottom of a pie plate or small casserole dish. next spread sour cream over beans. top with green salsa, shredded lettuce, cheese, scallions and jalapeno pepper.

atkinson and capitol where police say a 45 year old man was injured. police received the call about a man lying in the middle of the road at 1:30 this morning. police say the victim of this hit and run is intoxicated and they are unsure if he was attempting to cross the street or if he was just wandering in the middle of the street when he got hit. what they do know is that the car drove away - that car is described as a police believe the car continued east on capital after hitting the man the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. milwaukee police say they continue to search for the driver of the vehicle. if you have any information - you're encouraged to contact milwaukee police. reporting live on milwaukee's north side - julie collins. fox 6 news. we are learning more details about the car-- suspected of slamming into a mount pleasant squad car. police say they are looking for a dark sedan, which should have

officer was responding to a call wednesday night when his squad was hit by another car. he had to jump into his vehicle to avoid being hit by that car. the officer escaped without injury but investigators say the driver never stopped. if you have any information call mount pleasant police. the milwaukee county medical examiners office is investigating 71 possible drug overdose death -- in the past 7 weeks. one of those cases - is the medical examiner's own son. a report of an unconscious 29 year old man on clybourn street. paramedics used the drug narcan... but despite that, and other life saving measures, the man was pronounced dead from a probable overdose.. that man turned out to be the son of the milwaukee county medical examiner. local health experts say the death highlights just how widespread the problem of opiate addiction is in our area. experts say they don't believe the

news conference this morning... and calling for a legislative investigation. this comes after the guardian published 15-hundred pages from the secret, now closed john doe investigation. angelica's following the latest developments in studio. republicans are calling for an investigation into how those documents were leaked... as governor scott walker faces questions for the first time since the guardian published those papers. at first... walker wouldn't say if he continues to direct corporate money t as the documents show he did during 2011 and 2012. but... at a second news conference, walker said he wasn't doing that "right now." this all relates to about 15-hundred pages from the supposedly secret, now-closed john doe investigation into the governor's 2012 recall campaign. walker blames the leak itself on the john doe prosecutors. people who failed to win in the court of law have chosen to leak bits and portions of things to try to win

another game day dish! good morning! ingredients: 4 to 5 grilled brats, sliced into 1/4 inch slices 2 tablespoons butter or olive oil 1/2 a green pepper, sliced into thin strips 1/2 a yellow or red pepper, sliced into thin strips 1 small onion, sliced salt and pepper 4 to 8 slices provolone cheese 4 sub rolls, split 1/2 cup mayonnaise mustard directions: heat butter or oil in a skillet. cook onions for a few minutes over medium-low heat. add peppers and cook until they start to get a little a soft. season with a little salt and pepper. mix together mayo and mustard. spread mayo mixture on sub rolls. fill rolls with sliced brats, peppers and onions. top with a slice or two of cheese. place subs on a foiled lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated
