tonight's the night - the first presidential debate of campaign 2016. democrat hillary clinton are neck-and-neck in the polls ... and tonight, they will face off at nine p-m eastern at hofstra university in hempstead, new york. dianne gallagher has the latest. monday's 90-minute debate will be divided into six 15-minute segments that will cover three topics - "america's direction," "achieving prosperity" and "securing america." moderator lester holt will begin each segment with a question and the candidates will have two minutes each to

delegates are expected to release more details about their trips in the next few days. november 8th is still more than a month away...but today...milwaukee residents can cast their vote for president. early voting begins today. our deandra corinthios has the details. the city of milwaukee is able to offer longer hours and more early voting sites than in year past... this because a federal judge struck down certain voting restrictions... the city of thousand voters to cast their ballots before the general election in november. this time there is a 600 percent increase in early voting hours. 725...instead of 110 compared to the 2014 general election. for the next two weeks...early voting will only be offered at the zeidler building. then starting october 10... voters will also be able to go to the midtown shopping center on the north side and the forest home library on the south side. a reminder...the photo i-d law is in effect for this election... and you can only vote early if you are already registered to vote. early voting here runs 10 to 6

breaks out at a home in west bend. multiple crews were called out to the scene around 8-30 this second alarm fire. officials say the fire started in the basement. an 18-year-old woman and one other person were taken to the hospital. we don't know how badly they were hurt. no word yet on what sparked the fire. in glendale... a murder investigation is taking place off river woods parkway. the medical examiner's office says the victim is an adult woman. investigators are saying it appears she was shot. glendale police are expected to release more information later today. stick with fox6 news on air and

carl barrett junior and arlis gordon were looking for revenge and opened fire on the wrong house. the alleged getaway driver has also been charged. barrett faces reckless homicide charges. new information on the 9-year-old accidentally shot by his 6-year-old brother last week. the 6-year-old's father is now in custody. dominique phillips faces two charges -- including possession of a firearm by a felon...and leaving a loaded firearm near a child. nicole jackson has also been charged for leaving a loaded weekend. a criminal complaint says this may have not been the first time the 6-year-old had his hands on the gun. milwaukee police are looking for a male suspect... after a shooting on milwaukee's west side. it happened a little before 11 sunday morning near 26th and michigan. the 47-year-old victim was found in a home. that woman is now in critical condition. police say they're still investigating the circumstances. police are also investigating a

department pulled a man out of the lagoon yesterday morning. he was rushed a hospital... where he later died. investigators don't suspect foul play. no word if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this incident. happening today... mayor barrett unveiling his proposal for milwaukee's budget. yesterday barrett announced a milwaukee company is one of just 6 finalists for a major government contract. the united states postal service is looking for a contractor to build 180-thousand postal trucks. "rev group" is one of ju they've already been selected to build prototypes. and if the milwaukee company wins the bid-- it could lead to roughly two thousand jobs. "this is a significant step and it's something that's a part of our plan to do everything we can to create family supporting jobs right here in the heart of the community." it will be a while before we know the winner. confronted by a group of people. an argument broke out... and shots were fired. fabbri was hit at least twice, including once in the head. his sister says the attacker tried to get away on a bike. "i chased him to the street, trying to hold the bike down. his girlfriend comes and punched me and ripped my shirt and i wind up on the ground and another security guard came to help me. i called the police, they stole my phone and my brother is unconscious and going to the hospital right now." hospital... where he died. police have one person in custody... and are looking for others in connection to the shooting. around the world now... aid has been delivered to parts of syria for the first time in almost six months. u-n and syrian red crescent trucks carrying food and medical supplies headed to several towns in western syria today. last week, the u-n suspended aid after a deadly attack on a convoy. the u-n estimates that 13-million people are in need of humanitarian assistance in syria... more than five million
