did she prepare better for last night's debate, she's better prepared to be president. clinton opened with a series of attacks, getting trump to respond to each one. the two candidates both face challenges when it comes to trust and transparency. trump was later asked about his tax returns, which he turned around to hammer clinton over her state department email scandal. i will release my tax returns against my lawyers wishes when she releases deleted as soon as she releases them, i will release the tax returns "donald was one of the people who rooted for the housing crisis. he said back in 2006 gee i hope it does collapse so i can go in and buy some. well it did collapse. questions about where president obama was born years after obama produced his birth certificate. trump says he was the one that got president obama to produce his birth certificate. clinton responding that trump has a long record of racist behavior...and the birther issue was a hurtful one. the next debate is october 9th in st louis. also the first and only vice presidential debate takes place on october 4th. a series of campaign stops in wisconsin this week -- following the debate.e nominee donald trump will appear at the waukesha expo center on wednesday. anne holton -- the wife of democratic v-p nominee tim kaine -- will be in milwaukee and kenosha on thursday. and hillary clinton's daughter chelsea will be in wisconsin on friday. details about her trip still haven't be released. and we have plenty more coverage on our website on the debate...and the campaign stops this week. just head to fox 6 now dot com -- and click on the politics tab. now to some news from overnight.

and nash. police not saying much about the incident at this point..but there was a heavy police presence at the scene around 10 p.m. it appears a pole was brought down during the crash. no word on injuries. we'll bring any updates as soon as they come into our newsroom. police also investigating a shooting from overnight. officials say a 29-year-old woman was shot standing in her front yard....near 67th and keefe. she was taken to the hospital and expected to be ok. police continue to investigate. been an emotional trial...against one of the suspects accused in the death of the laylah petersen the five year old girl was shot and killed while sitting on her grandfather's lap deandra corinthios is live from the milwaukee county courthouse with more. court is back in session at 815 this morning. laylah's grandparents testified monday...and her grandmother broke down in tears describing the moment when bullets flew through their home's windows...and

three men charged in laylah petersen's death. in november of 2014...milwaukee police say barrett and another man took their 9 mm guns to a home at 58th and hampton. the third suspect drove the car. police say they fired repeatedly into the home...where five year old laylah, her seven year old sister destiny and the girls' grandparents were sitting in the living room watching tv. laylah was shot in the head. a criminal complaint says barrett another man also charged with the crime intended to shoot someone else, who actually lived four blocks away. laylah's grandparents describe the moments when the bullets started flying into the house. "i heard boom boom boom three or four and all the sudden robert says get to the floor, get to the floor and then all the as i crawled on the ground and when i retrieved my phone i called 911 and next thing you know robert says laylah's been hit" "the blinds were like splintering because they are wood and i told everyone to get

nicole is in the newsroom with the latest. the woman's body was found early yesterday morning in glendale...just off port washington road. police say the 19-year-old victim was shot to death. the orthopedic hospital of wisconsin did not want to comment on the incident.. authorities continue to search for suspects. police are still trying to track down the suspect in an august homicide. officials believe this man stabbed 23- year-old worn jones near 28th and lisbon. these pictures were taken about if you recognize him-- give police a call. and a 12-year-old boy is recovering after being shot on the city's north side. police say the boy was sitting in a car near holton and locust-- when someone in another car starting firing. he is expected to survive. no suspects are in custody. and in racine county - the sheriff's office investigating an armed robbery at a b-p gas station. this happened yesterday around 2:45 in the afternoon. investigators say the

charlotte. protesters demanding change in the wake of the fatal police shooting of keith lamont scott. more than 50 people of all ages took to the podium at last night's city council meeting. speaker after speaker called for the city's mayor and police chief to resign. the two city leaders have been criticized for their handling of the aftermath of the shooting -- including the

jury selection is underway for the man accused of killing nine people last year, at charleston, south carolina's emanuel a-m-e church. 22-year-old dylann roof is charged with dozens of federal offenses, including hate-crimes. prosecutors say he targeted his victims based on their race and religion. roof is facing the death penalty. about 3-thousand potential jurors received summons over the summer and are being brought in during the next several days in panels of 80 for initial screening. wisconsin's right to work law. act 1 -- which was passed last year -- prohibits unions from requiring dues or fees from non-union members. the "international union of operating engineers local 139" filed a lawsuit -- claiming the law conflicts with the national labor relations act. but yesterday -- the court sided with the state. attorney general brad schimel says he hopes this ruling will help the state win its case currently in the wisconsin court of appeals --

showers this afternoon. right when we warm up a little next. the washington monument will remain closed indefinitely due to ongoing elevator issues. the monument was shut down in mid- august when a cable broke loose on the elevator that takes visitors on a 555- foot high ride. repairs were expected to be over by

weeks since the shut down, contractors and consultants have yet to figure out exactly what is wrong with the elevator system...so the plan is to move toward a major overhaul that will take months. meanwhile here in milwaukee -- another one of the mitchell park domes is open once again. work to install mesh safety netting in the tropical dome was completed over the weekend and it's now open again. the last dome to receive the safety netting-- the desert dome-- will re-open in early november. that will be followed by a grand reopening event for all three doms all three domes were closed in early february, after a piece of concrete fell. ahead this morning - intoxicated and disruptive. we'll tell you about the man milwaukee county sheriff david clarke helped arrest on a flight - coming up. also this morning -- family seeking justice for the death of laylah petersen. we'll have the latest on the jury trial underway for one of the suspect's
