not one of them. but fox 6 investigator bryan polcyn finds the west allis man has been posing as a disabled u-s marine for years. he's known to many as lieutenant john hemphill. at least, that's what it says on his bank statement, his electric bill, and his cell phone bill. his facebook page says he's a sergeant. in reality, he's not even a marine. the man in the background with the towel on his shoulder is john e "yes, sir."he's a 22-year veteran of the united states marine corps... who lost his leg in afghanistan. "then he said all of a sudden there was a bomb."at least, that's what he told sheila when they met a few years ago. "it's an epidemic. it's an absolute epidemic!'after we told her about hemphill, schantag requested detailed records of his military service... but the marine corps' manpower division could not find him anywhere in their records. 'i dont know how he lost his leg, but i can guarantee it wasnt in the bombing in afghanistan and it certainly wasnt in an ambush in vietnam.'it was an ambush in vietnam that wounded her husband. "i was married to a ma phony marine. because i know what he went through. i know how he suffered." "it is reprehensible."david kurtz is state adjutant for the
