election is set to get underway this morning here in wisconsin. county clerks... election officials and volunteers... say they're prepared. we have team coverage - angelica duria tracking allegations that the recount is illegal. but first... let's start with deandra corinthios... who's live on milwaukee's south side...from the city's election commission warehouse. good morning! all of the ballots for milwaukee county have been moved to this location... they're under lock and key...and guarded...until 9 am...when the recount will begin. transported from the milwaukee county courthouse to the election commission warehouse. the recount effort in milwaukee county involves more than 440-thousand ballots all together. the final decision will be made this morning by the board of canvassers, the county election commission recommends the recount be done by machine. 14 counties will use optical scanners for the recount...including waukesha and sheboygan counties 48 counties will recount the vote by

says the stein campaign must claim there is a reason a mistake did occur... and that it's not about whether a mistake could have occurred. 45-year-old officer was shot multiple times while responding to a domestic violence call yesterday. the officer was rushed to the hospital for surgery ---- but didn't survive. "our officer was pronounced dead at the hospital. we all will take our time when it's appropriate, to grieve and to share our thoughts and feelings about our friend." the last time an officer was killed in tacoma was in 1997 dead...and four people are in custody. and we've now learned this isn't the first time one of them has been accused of child abuse that led to death. a source tells fox 6 the 7-year-old boy suffered from malnutrition and was abused. we are told the two women arrested met in prison. one of the women was locked up for her role in a separate child abuse case. in 2003, the suspect was convicted of child neglect

complaint, 1-year-old bryan alston was found dead inside the suspect's home. now, thirteen years later that woman is accused in another horrific case. a source tells fox 6--there were other children inside the home with the deceased 7-year-old. a 9-year-old was also abused and is being treated at the hospital. we are told neither of the women accused are the mothers to the abused boys. one of the men responsible for the shooting death of 5-year-old laylah petersen is expected sentenced today. carl guilty on all four charges he faced. laylah petersen was sitting on her grandfather's lap in 2014, when bullets pierced through the wall killing her. investigators say, barrett and two other men were looking to kill a man acquitted of murdering one the men's family members. they fired into the wrong house. arlis gordon and paul farr have already pleaded guilty for their roles. barrett's sentencing is set for 8:15 this morning. also in court today... the man

" the annual lighting of the christmas tree in rockefeller center took place last night. thousands of people gathered in midtown manhattan for the free, but rainy, celebration. mayor bill de blasio got some help from saturday night live stars alec baldwin and kate mckinnon lighting up the 94- foot tall norway spruce. cover the tree. the rockefeller christmas tree has been a holiday tradition since 1931. the tree will be on display until january 6th. just in time for the holidays... an arizona hotel unveils a massive gingerbread village... it's an annual tradition at the j-w marriott desert ridge hotel in phoenix.. this year the theme is "under the sea" -- and pastry chefs began crafting the ocean dream in october. they

standoff. two children were then rescued from the home unharmed. investigators say multiple weapons have been found inside the house. the officer has not been identified... we do know he was 45-years old and was a 17-year veteran of the tacoma police force. we will continue to update you as we learn more. wisconsins statewide presidential recount begins at 9 this morning. the ballots are boxed up...and have been under tight security all night... deandra corinthios is live from the election commission warehouse on milwaukee county is preparing for a recount of more than 440 thousand ballots... this can be done by hand but will likely be done with the use of optical scanners ...which the clerk says will speed up the process... the recount results for the whole state will have to be certified and completed by december 12th. a judge denied former green party presidential candidate jill steins request to force a state hand

ruling allowing county use voti. but former green party presidential candidate jill stein is still urging clerks to do a hand count. the lead elections administrator called it "good news" that stein had dropped her legal challenge because it will give clerks certainty. elections administrators say that some clerks are miffed that the recount comes at the request of green party candidate jill stein, who got just one percent of the vote. while stein is dropping her legal challenge here... she has formally requested a full hand recount of the pres well. later today -- a rally will be held outside the wells fargo bank downtown -- protesting the dakota access pipeline. this is video from a similar protest held last month. the demonstrators are critical of the bank's investment in the nearly 2- thousand mile long oil pipeline. then -- at 5 pm the group will march to the federal court house and demand president obama and the army corps of engineers withdraw their eviction order for the camp.. protesters fill the street overnight in charlotte, north

cleared in connection to a deadly shooting. angelica is here with a look across america. a north carolina prosecutor says the officer who fatally shot keith lamont scott will not face charges, calling the shooting justified. the decision closes a two-month investigation. officer brentley vinson shot and killed scott in september. the district attorney says the officer acted lawfully...adding that a gun was found on the scene. he also said at least three officers reported seeing scott holding a gun before he was shot...and officer felt he was in imminent danger before firing his weapon. officer vinson's conduct is still being investigated. meanwhile -- protests did break out in the wake of the news. four people were arrested last night...after police say the protesters refused to get out of the street. the demonstrators remained mostly peaceful though. the second inmate who escaped from a jail in san jose last week is back in custody. santa clara sheriff's deputies
