recounted. milwaukee county clerk, joe czarnezki, explains, the morning hours are dedicated to verifying absentee ballots, which can be contentious, at times, while the afternoon, involves counting ballots. czarnezki also addresses the lingering threat of a federal lawsuit, potentially, putting this process on-hold ... the wisconsin election commission has informed us that, unless we hear otherwise, from a judge, we need to keep counting, and were gonna keep counting. worked, until a little after 9 p-m, thursday, but he does not expect them to be here, that late, tonight. they will return tomorrow morning, to continue the effort. for now, this is the latest, in milwaukee. im justin williams, fox 6 news.

fleeing police and killing someone in a crash and severely injuring another appears in court today. ben handelman joins us live in the newsroom with the story, new at 4. 18-year-old samira coleman-wilks pleaded not guilty today -- and a judge denied a bond request. the court upholding her 50-thousand dollar bond, saying she is facing serious felony charges and is a flight risk. police say coleman-wilks sped away from police, driving more than 50 miles an hour over the speed limit. she later crashed -- oliver, and seriously injuring another passenger mario harrell huh-rell .harrell suffered traumatic brain injury -- and may not survive. coleman-wilks is due back in court december 15th. live in the newsroom, ben handelman fox 6 news. steph thanks ben a kindergarten teacher will spend two years behind bars -- after she was convicted for having sex with a teenage boy. elizabeth dillett pleaded guilty in october to two counts of sexual

who works or volunteers with children. she was a kindergarten teacher and the athletic director at saint peter-immanuel luterhan. investigators say she met the victim through sports. school officials said dillett was on paid leave as of april 8th -- when the allegations surfaced. 18-year-old austin halbrooks pleading guilty in court today after he was arrested for "upskirting." he will be sentenced for one felony count of invasion of privacy -- three investigators say halbrooks secretly took pictures up girls skirts at university school of milwaukee in river hills -- where he was a student. law enforcement found 55 photos of four victims on his laptop -- dating back to february of 20-15. milwaukee county auditors have launched an investigation into medical care being given to inmates at the milwaukee county jail.. and the house of correction in franklin. details about this audit come out... one day after county supervisor supreme moore omokunde called for sheriff

of four recent ?inmate deaths. julie collins joins us with more - julie? this audit was called for by the chairman of the milwaukee county board of chairman of the milwaukee county board of supervisors. theo lipscomb says it was prompted --- in part-- by the four inmate deaths. lipscomb issued a statement saying, quote "the recent death and reports of poor care at the jail and the house of corrections are upsetting and frustrating." the audit focuses on armor medical services...the ?miami-based company has been contracted by the county since 2013 to provide

just yesterday, supervisor supreme omokunde called for sheriff david clarke's resignation before quote "more people die" ... saying the sheriff has quote ?abdicated his responsibility to hold his officers accountable." responding to that claim, sheriff clarke ?fired back, comparing the supervisor's name to a comic book character -- and the supervisor was simply upset the sheriff helped donald trump get elected as president. response to the audit.. we were told to refer to his statement from yesterday. a fire breaks out at a building under construction on milwaukee's south side today. this is a timelapse sent in by a viewer from 1st and becher -- as firefighters worked to get it under control. officials say the fire may have started during welding work being done on the roof. no injuries were

officer is sharing a heartwarming show of support -- after her husband died in the line of duty. she posted a picture of her son on facebook -- holding two teddy bears with a very special meaning... ..saying the bears were made out of her late husband's uniforms. officer blake snyder was killed in october... after he and responded to a disturbance call. elizabeth says she's grateful for all of the comfort she has received from the st. louis community and the nation. two jailbirds share a mugshot in oregon this week. the picture going viral.. because the suspect posed with his pet macaw! authorities say craig buckner brought his parrot, named "bird," to county court with him. thinking his case wouldn't

hes smart...hes fast...and ferocious if need be. the newest member of the greenfield police department got to work catching bad guys his first day on the job. fox6s deandra corinthios introduces you to ocho. boy,..." k9 ocho just tracked a weapon... practice...for when a suspect tosses a gun during a chase. this...is one of his many skills. "hell do narcotics, he can locate, indicate the odor of the narcotics, hell search for people, hell search for evidence, hell track people and he can do apprehension work as well" ocho is the newest member of the greenfield police departments k9 unit. one of two police dogs on the force... and officer jonah kowalkowski is his handler. they both just got back from training together in norh

get a promotion - even after spending time behind bars. sergeant john corbett was pulled over in rural fond du lac county for o-w-i back in november 2010. dash cam shows him taking a field sobriety test. a police report says his 13 -year-old daughter was in the car and she had been driving earlier. corbett was suspended from m- p-d for 60 days. he served 30 days in jail with work release. lost his license for 15 months and lost 17-thousand the fire and police commission will meet next week to determine whether corbett receives a promotion to lieutenant. a mother-- charged with failure to prevent her sons child abuse... is now dead from a suspected drug overdose. 25-year old megan scott was the mother of three year old aiden archer. scott and her then boyfriend, 28-year old maurice snyder faced multiple charges for aidens death. the boy died in june last year after significant trauma to his head and body. when police were called to this

ford is recalling more than 680- thousand cars -- most of them in north america -- over a seat belt defect. it comes after at least two people were injured in two accidents related to the issue. the vehicles in question are certain fusion, lincoln m-k-z and mondeo models from 2013 to 2016. ford says the

if you enjoy a glass of white wine every day ... you may be slightly increasing your risk for melanoma. researchers found that total alcohol intake was associated with a fourteen percent higher risk of melanoma per dr but when they looked at the type of alcohol consumed.. white wine was associated with a 13-percent higher risk of melanoma compared to red wines. study authors noted beer and liquor did not significantly affect melanoma risk. and type-two diabetics may be able to control their blood sugar in a simple way. typically, moderate to vigorous exercise is recommended, but many people ignore that advice. so after a new study, researchers say it takes even less....

of adults in their sixties shows that breaking up your sitting every half-hour can improve your blood sugar levels. researchers hope to get the same results in an even larger study. and ladies, listen up... a new study suggests a low carb diet could lead to a healthier metabolism. the study included 32 women - ages 50 to 65 without diabetes. they were put into groups of either a high or low-carb diet. the study reported, when people ate three low carb meals in 24 hours, and exercised an hour before each meal... their insulin s were down by 30 percent. they aren't sure how the low-carb diet would affect those with diabetes why did the chicken cross the road.. in one bronx neighborhood, the answer of obvious. chickens are taking over a part of the south bronx. it's causing quite the poultry problem.. there are chickens in the trees, the streets and on even the sidewalks. residents are asking authorities to come re-locate them. nobody knows where they came from but they say they are running around like-- well.... like chickens

california are getting a break from the pressure of finals. and they're doing it -- with the help of coloring books and pets! kim murphy has the story -- new at 4. with finals looming it's a stressful time for college students and at american river college in california, some are coloring outside the lines. puppies are lending paws to de-stress and an adult coloring book program will soon be at their aaron austin, student: "when you're coloring it sends you back to a more simpler mindset, so it is really stress relieving to sit and draw and color," but others say it's creating a real problem. benjamin uchytil, student: "i do have a concern with bringing these things on campus because i think we have a tendency to baby college students," benjamin uchytil is back in school for his masters degree and says students need to learn to cope like adults.benjamin uchytil, student: "the world does not come to an end because you did not get what you want," american

fox6's myra sanchick tells us about this national story unfolding here in our state. the lawsuit was filed today in federal court and the groups are asking that a federal judge in madison sign a temporary injunction stopping the recount. but less than an hour ago, judge james petersen said no. he will not stop the recount, not yet. the groups can ask for an injunction next week and the judge will take arguments, but for now the count is on. the recount has been going on party candidate jill stein paid 3 point five million dollars to force the recount of wisconsin's three million presidential votes. president elect donald trump won that election by 22-thousand votes in wisconsin. today three documents were filed in federal court by a group called great america pac, and stop hillary pac, one is asking for a temporary restraining order to stop the recount until bigger issues are decided. the bigger issues:
