8:15 am
he's looking to rent out this apartment ... so he posted an ad on craiglist. weeks later ... tanke discovered he wasn't the only person advertising his unit. it was a carbon copy of the ad that i put out. a scammer had taken his craigslist ad... copied it ... and re-posted it ... with a few changes. contact information. the price was 300 to 400 dollars less than what i was advertising for. um they were advertising for pets. scammer's post ... and took down his own ad. he even sent a message to the scammer ... asking if the apartment had been taken. he got a response ... telling him the apartment ... was still available. i asked to see it and they did not respond to that but apparently they have responded to other folks. contact 6 emailed the scammer ... and got a response from someone claiming to be "homer martinez"
8:16 am
... but it says homer's husband is being transferred to west africa ... and they're looking for "a clean and reliable person to take care of the home." i'm told i can drive by the address ... and if i like it ... they'll sent me an application. i send an email back asking to talk on the phone ... and get no response. tanke says he just wants buyers and renters to know ... this could happen to them. if this can help somebody to not fall for a scam, that's the reason i did it. if you're looking to rent an apartment ... never deal with a person who won't talk with you on the phone ... or won't let you tour the apartment before you put money down. when checking out an apartment ... take uneasy or unsure at any point ... back out. i'm jenna sachs. contact 6. contact 6 reached out to craigslist for comment on this story ... but did not hear back. the eleven 25 development in the old pabst brewery may be college housing, but the food is available to everyone. and it looks really good. carl is trying it all out for us at the new food court --
