case, darke county police headquarters. >> good morning. police have made a desperate plea in their search for william mcquain. the germantown boy is still missing even as a step father is behind boars, it's charged with killing a mother. 45-year-old curtis lopez was seen last wednesday removing items from the apartment of his estranged wife, the same place if she was found dead after an and an amber alert was sent out for the boy. >> he was a fantastic little boy. if cracks he was carrying out a flat screen tv sets. >> he said he had to dig into the shop to have it fixed. i thought something is wrong. >> william was last seen in class and martin luther king middle school on september 30.

concern school officials called a good friend of the mother, an even -- who then reported jane and william missing. there's still no sign of the stepson. the police chief has issued an urgent plea for the public's l.p.. >> my hope is that he maybe with a family member or friend. as time goes on, it becomes more and more alongside that this safe -- a long shot that he is safe. >> lopez is not fully cooperating with detectives in the search for the boy. he will be processed in north carolina and then moved here. a local iraq war veteran is expected to enter a guilty plea in the case of attempted murder today.

last september and joshua atkins fired a high-powered rifle pit at his girlfriend. the woman was walking out of the parking garage and bethesda. she was not injured, but there was a massive manhunt for the suspect. he was arrested later that night in pennsylvania. at the suitland metro grosz there have been a string of armed robberies. five similar incidents from september 27 through yesterday morning. in each case a man with a black hand gun approached a person, demanded property, and it took off. if no one has been heard. now they are stepping up security. still ahead, costs three protesters are preparing for possible showdown with new york city police. >> and it has to do with the owner of the park where the protesters are skipping out -- are camping out.

the d.c. area is cleaning up after last night's storm. a tornado touched down near quantico, knocking down trees and power lines. and an apparent tornado in louisa county, virginia, heavily damaged and a store called. drivers had to be rescued when their cars became stranded on flooded roads in fairfax county. police and made an arrest in the murder of a germantown woman. 45-year-old curtis lopez was arrested in north carolina yesterday. he is wanted in the death of 51- year-old jane mcquain. police are searching for her 11- year-old son william who has not been seen since september 30. metro transit police increasing patrols at the suitland metro station garage after armed robberies. five people to have been propped between september 27 and yesterday morning. no one was injured in any of those incidents. -- five people have been robbed.

louisa county. this is the front yard. built in the 1700's. they don't know if it can be restored. this was taken right after the storm, blue skies. quite a bit of damage in that area. and a tornado in quantico. that was from yesterday. showers and storms down to our south and west this morning. those will continue living across the area. look for more showers and storms through the first half of the day and then by this afternoon moving away with improving conditions. 66 degrees right now in southern maryland, 64 in fredericksburg. cooler air will start to build in across the mid-atlantic after the front clears away. satellite and radar picture shows the showers on our doorstep. the wider picture does show clearing. high-pressure will pull the moisture up and out of here. that will allow for a drier

early, they say this happens every time it rains. let's show dramatic video of what was also caught on camera. home-video of the skies swirling above. an apparent tornadoes touching down on interstate 95, knocking out power, causing flooding along some roads. severe weather started during the rush hour commute. timing could not have been worse. the high water began a long walney road, trapping some drivers who thought they could make it through the water. it continued rising very quickly. -- trapping drivers. >> i did not want to open the door because the inside was flooded. >> my car is flooded. >> two people there had to push their car off out of the high water. the good news this morning is the water has receded.

going to our website, we are following the latest developments in the murder of a germantown will and sam the disappearance of her young son. as police searched for 11-year- old william mcquain, they made an arrest in his mother's death. mike conneen is at the montgomery county police headquarters in rockville. >> good morning. the 11-year-old germantown boy is still missing this morning even as his stepfather is behind bars starts with the killing of his mother. the father was arrested early thursday morning at a hotel in north carolina. that is where police also found the victim's suv. police say that 45-year-old curtis lopez was seen last wednesday removing items from his estranged wife's apartment the same apartment where she was found dead after an amber alert went out for our son. neighbors say that they saw lopez carrying a flat screen tv past to his wife's suv. 11-year-old william was last

family members are upset that charges were dropped against the men accused of beating him. the man believed to be behind the deadly shooting in california was one of the friendly skies on the block. on wednesday police say that scott de kraai opened fire killing eight people including his ex-wife michele. he was upset about a custody dispute with michele, an employee at the salon. officials in oklahoma try to determine why a high school football player died after breaking his leg. smith broke his leg in practice on tuesday, he was rushed to the hospital, and he went home that night. he died the next day. >> it is shocking because he was cleared physically to play football. he was in good health. he was a large skillet and was in good shape. >> unbelievable.
