100 and 105. the actual air temperature will be in the mid to upper 90s today. we could be pushing 100 degrees tomorrow afternoon in a few locations. mid to upper 90 today and tomorrow. low 90's by friday with widespread thunderstorms expected later in the day on friday. cooling a little on the weekend upper 80s. stay in the air-conditioning and take the necessary precautions. >> be careful if you are going to take the beltway in virginia. periodic closures overnight. 495 near 66, the inner loop side. 66, they are working outside the beltway westbound. as far as prince george's and montgomery county, the beltway looks wonderful. near university boulevard, inner loop and outer loop, dividing around the work zone after this camera, but no delays.

looks good on 66, nothing on the greenway or the dulles toll road. back to you. >> thank you. two bridges in maryland will be closed this afternoon temporarily. traffic on the tests of the bay bridge will be halted for about 40 minutes at 1:15. at 3:15, traffic on the key bridge on 695 in baltimore will be halted about 20 minutes. asia will be transporting cranes up the chesapeake bay. they are 14 stories high. the bridges will be closed to make sure drivers are not distracted. >> your next taxi cab ride in the district may be a little cheaper. the commission says that a $1 per trip fuel surcharge will expire at midnight tonight. it had been in place because of high gas prices. the commission says it could implement the surcharge again. for now you will not get charged extra dollar.

today. national weather service issued a heat advisory for this afternoon. temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s. are urged to limit the time they spend outside and drink plenty of fluids. earth treks county police investigating a deadly crash in springfield. a vehicle struck a fire hydrant at leesville boulevard and overturned. the man driving a car died. prince george's county councilwoman karen toles expected to go on trial today for reckless driving. \ she was charged after driving more than 100 miles an hour on the beltway in february. she said that she was running late for an appointment at the time. >> on the hill house republicans are preparing to hold attorney general eric holder in contempt of congress. representative darrell issa is giving holder until 10:00 this morning to hand over documents related to the fast and furious program. that is the atf operation that put guns in hands of mexican cartels. a contempt vote against him is

scheduled for noon if the documents are not received. former d.c. councilman harry thomas jr. will report to a federal prison in alabama today where he will begin serving a sentence for stealing city funds. he was sentenced to 38 months in jail after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $350,000. he told the washington times that he spent his final days of freedom tending to his lawn, spending time with his children and visiting his father's grave. >> d.c. council will hold hearings today on a proposal to add new signs to the verizon center exterior. the complex could apply to add nine graphics to the flip side. the images could be digital and animated, but the legislation requires the not impaired drivers on nearby streets or adversely impact the character or integrity of the verizon center. >> the man suspected of killing a woman at a dewey beach motel has been found deead.

pawan kumar's body was found at a hotel in northern new jersey. investigators believe that he stabbed a 26-year-old pennsylvania woman to death. it's not clear why she was murdered or how the suspect died. he was the first person to ever kill someone at the delaware beach motel. >> the jerry sandusky trial, the defense could rest its case today. it's still not clear if jerry sandusky will take the stand. his wife did yesterday. she defended him against charges he sexually abused boys. >> i saw in dottie sandusky's testimony a loyal wife, but she had to say that the boys were in the home frequently and were in the basement and being tucked into bed by her husband. >> she was asked about the first alleged victim to come forward. she said that he was conniving demanding, and wanted his way.
