tsunami being caused. the meteorological agency said the earthquake occurred friday at 2:10 p.m. (0510 gmt) in japan's western prefecture of tottori, about 700 kilometers (430 miles) west of tokyo, at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles) underground. the agency said there was from the inland temblor. there was no immediate report of injuries or damage from the quake. an update on wednesday's gas explosions in portland, oregon.. most of the eight people who were injured are now out of the hospital. a firefighter who was thrown about 20 feet during one of the blasts remains hospitalized. he's undergone surgery, and has several broken
