let's get right to jummy olbanji. a chartered plane with 81 people on board including a brazilian soccer team crashed on its way to colombia frombo crash..all others were killed. the aircraft declared an emergency just after 10 last night because of an electrical failure. rescue crews were immediately activated but an air force helicopter had to turn back because of low visibility. heavy rainfall is complicating the nighttime search and authorities urged journalists to stay off the roads to facilitate the entry of ambulances and rescuers. we will continue to update you on this story as more information becomes

12-year-old girl inside a church kitchen in annandale. 47-year-old george aggravated sexual battery. the alleged incident happened sunday evening at cornerstone church. the suspect was there, attending a fellowship program with other people who have moved to the u.s. from sudan. the suspect also faces an abduction charge, because he allegedly forced the 12-year-old girl

now to a disturbing investigation in pasadena, maryland. an 82-year-old grandmother, stabbed repeatedly by her own granddaughter. investigators say savannah weaver stabbed her grandmother- to "cut the demons out of her." the victim was rushed to the hospital and later released. weaver was taken into custody- and placed in the hospital for an evaluation. an update this morning on one of the national zoo's most famous residents. veterinarians say bei bei the giant panda cub is recovering well after emergency surgery. doctors had to blockage which turned out to be lemon-sized mass of chewed up bamboo. bei bei has been reunited with his mom but the panda house remains closed while he is under observation. and unfortunately-- bei bei is not allowed to have any more bamboo for a while. it's 5 xx and coming up on good morning washington. out of control inferno. right now the massive evacuations underway in tennessee as flames from a large wildfire spread. and.. back to the drawing

firefighters have issued a mandatory evacuation for downtown gatlinburg as wind conditions worsen and flames continue to grow. right now at least 14 fires are burning in the state. the national guard has been activated to help with the fire fight and evacuations. the fire also spread near the popular dollywood theme park forcing guests to leave. so far no injuries have been reported. right now the cause of the fire is unknown. now to the trump transition.. expect "a number of very important announcements" today. jummy olabanji is here with more. sources tell several news organizations.. trump has chosen g-o-p congressman tom price of georgia as health and human services secretary. an official announcement could come today. price is chairman of the house budget committee, and a leading critic of obamacare. he's a six-term member of congress, and an orthopedic surgeon. trump is still meeting with contenders for secretary of state.. including retired general david

visitors are expected at the memorial today. new this morning.. residents of the east end mobile home park in manassas are being evicted, because of a sewage issue.. and it's not their fault. the problem is so bad, raw sewage sometimes comes up in yards. the owner can't afford to fix the problem. so manassas is buying the property for nearly two-million dollars. the city says it can't be a landlord, and won't finish the sale until everyone is out. residents are ordered to leave by the end of february one resident says he's searched as far as culpeper, and can't find a place for his mobile home, wife, and four kids. at a meeting last night, residents asked the city for help. they may have won a small victory. the mayor says he'd support an extension of the eviction deadline. grey thursday -

resume this morning.. one day after an attack on campus. jummy olabanji is here with more. police and the f-b-i are scouring the footprint, looking for links to isis. police say somali immigrant abdul razak ali artan plowed his car into a group of pedestrians on campus. he then allegedly got out and began stabbing people with a butcher knife. 11 people were taken to the hospital.. one in critical condition. a campus police officer shot and killed artan, after he failed to obey orders to stop. law enforcement

following president-elect trump's twitter tirade over the popular vote, a recount was requested by green party candidate jill stein. stein filed a petition to recount presidential votes in pennsylvania and also pushed for recounts in wisconsin and michigan. the wisconsin elections commission says it will start a recount later this week. federal law maintains the tally needs to be complete by december 13th. stein says recounts are needed to quote "build trust in our election system." the only recount in a presidential race
