it's his first since july. trump is expected to talk about the potential conflicts of interest between his business and presidency. trump is also expected to face questions about obamacare and russian hacking. the news conference comes as the f-b-i is looking into new unsubstantiated allegations of secret ties between donald trump, his staff and the russians. according to abc news - the f-b-i is also investigating reports that trump aides were invloved in hacking the democratic party. the president-elect issued a flat denial, tweeting "fake news - a total political witch hunt!" meanwhile on capitol hill - confirmation hearings continue today for homeland security nominee marine general john kelly and trump's attorney general pick senator jeff sessions. sessions is a polarizing pick and has been accused of being racist. on tuesday, there were multiple protests including this one where people dressed in k-k-k robes that temporarily disrupted the proceedings. but, most political analysts say republicans do have the votes they need to confirm session

wheaton mall. two men ,... stabbed to death yesterday afternoon.. in the lower level of the mall. a woman who works near the food court saw one of the victims, stabbed in the chest. he was walking near the interior entrance of the hollister store, when he collapsed. police have not released the victims' names. it's unclear if they knew their attacker.. or what the motive was. investigators are working to confirm a description of the suspect. breaking overnight - new details about a deadly bombing in afghanistan tuesday. the united arab emirates says the attack in kandahar killed five of it's diplomats. 12 other people were hurt in the blast.. including kandahar's governor. overnight - the taliban issued a statement saying they did not plant the bomb - but that they did carry out other attacks in the day in kabul that killed at 38 people. in the day ahead - a judge is expected to formally sentence convicted chareston church shooter dylan roof. this after a jury

roof killed 9 black people in a 2015 massacre at a church meeting. before deliberations, roof expressed no apologies or regret for his actions. roof told the judge he wants to file a motion for new lawyers today - but the judge says that's not likely to happen. roof represented himself during his trial. developing now, arundel high school's principal will meet with students and parents today, to discuss a petition that celebrated white supremacy. the "kool kids klan" petition circulated among students friday. two students signed the petition, which used a racist word to describe blacks. staff members confiscated the petition and called police. they determined, no crime was committed. the school disciplined the students involved. in a letter to parents, principal gina davenport wrote: "we live in a society where our children even long before they ever reach their high school years are bombarded by messages of intolerance, disrespect, and hate. especially in recent years, those messages have grown louder."

prince william county board chairman corey stewart will present an ar-15 rifle to the winner of his giveaway contest today. stewart announced the winner last week, but did not give a name.. only identifying them as a navy veteran from woodbridge and a member of the n-r-a. stewart's rifle raffle was part of his campaign for virginia governor. the giveaway sparked outrage from gun control advocates, who say it's insensitive to victims of gun violence. new this morning-- volkswagen is reportedly working on a deal to plead guilty to criminal charges stemming from it's worldwide emissions scandal. according to the new york times-- the carmaker will plead guilty to conspiracy charges, and work with federal investigators to identify individual employees responsible for the plot. volkswagen will also pay more than 4-billion dollars in fines. it also faces hundreds of lawsuits-- after admitting to installing software in its vehicles to help cheat emissions tests. 7 is on your side with a consumer alert- a health hazard could be lurking in some twinkies!

too explosive not to investigate. we'll have more on the new claims - coming up in about ten minutes. new developments in a deepening corruption scandal in prince george's county. former state delegate and council member will campos has pleaded guilty to taking bribes. campos was on the council for 10 years- and resigned in 2015. according to court documents, he was essentially selling county money for bribes- and admitted to taking 340-thousand dollars. he is not the only person involved in this web of scandals. multiple elected leaders are now under investigation. stay with abc-7 and wjla.com for updates. a battle is underway in the loudoun county school district.. over a principal who was placed on leave. last night hundreds of students, parents and teachers rallied in support of john brewer. the school district has not publicly said why he was placed on leave but it's believed to be related to a letter of recommendation for a former dominion high band teacher. brian damron left dominion for florida in 2015,after he was

kick off its 2017 session at noon today. governor terry mcaullife will give his annual state of the state address to lawmakers tonight, where he's expected to explain his priorities for his last year in office. the 45-day legislative session will see lawmakers battling over the state budget problems and a variety of policy proposals aimed at improving the state's mental health care. maryland's general assembly also returns today for it's 90-day session. lawmakers will consider an array of issues including a revenue gap, prescription drug costs, limits on student testing and paid sick leave for workers. democrats hold a commanding majority in the legislature, but face a popular republican governor - larry hogan. with nine days until the transition of power - president obama is wrapping up his time as commander-in-chief with a final message to the american people. it comes as the f-b-i opens a new investigation involving the man who will take over the oval office-- president-elect donald trump abc's karen travers has more.
