>> reporter: hundreds of thousands, mothers and daughters from around the country are headed to d.c. turning their election night concerns into a positive movement. >> we are marching for women's rights. >> because i care about our planet and all the inhabitants. >> reporter: this female driven march was sparked by a single facebook post. >> i wanted to take action. >> reporter: disappointed by the win on election night, a 60-year-old grandmother from hawaii took to facebook in hopes of becoming a small voice for women's rights. and with her four granddaughters in mind, she wrote five simple words. >> i wrote, i think we should march. >> reporter: within a few hours, 40 women replied agreeing and by the next day, 10,000 women were in. >> somebody dubbed bethe fire starter, but this movement would not have happened without thousands of people helping to fan the flames.

flames, the four co-shares of the women march organization that have been working nonstop since election day to turn that facebook post into reality. but the scope of the march is now so much bigger than election night ink. with many groups coming to voice their concerns about the incoming trump administration. >> one of our goals for the march is to display what it looks like when the progressive movements are working together. when you have climate justice, racial justice, immigrant rights, women's reproductive rights movement coming and showing one unified voice. >> reporter: organizers think this march is also about families. mothers and daughters work together for a common goal. >> we want the world to know women are leaders and we want to show our children, especially our daughters they can be the next generation of leaders as well. >> reporter: in colorado making their way to d.c. with a group of co-workers. along for the ride is a 14
