president tomorrow, but inauguration festivities officially begin in just a few hours. kicking things off.. an annual inaugural tradition, the wreath-laying ceremony at arlington national cemetery. that's set for three this afternoon. then at four o'clock - a welcome celebration and concert at the linconln memorial.

in tehran. the fire broke out this morning.. and caused the 17-story structure to collapse.. destroying three fire trucks. it's believed people are still trapped beneath the rubble. the fire is now under control. the plasco building was home to a major shopping center.. and was one of tehran's most recognizable landmarks. taking a look at inauguration coverage, and today the attention remains on the five congressional democrats who paln to skip the inauguration tomorrow. five-dozen congressional democrats are making headlines deciding to boycott tomorrow because of the president-elect's actions in the past. the decision has caused outrage but one professor says its' not strange to see something like this at a inauguration. the difference - everyone is paying attention. tomorrow maryland congressman elijah cummings says he

logistics firms. the department of agriculture has a 140 billion dollar budget and oversees the nation's farm policy and food stamp program. at least one cabinet nominee is getting the thumbs up from lawmakers. on wednesday the senate armed services committee overwhelmingly approved the president-elect's pick for defense secretary, retired marine general james mattis. the appointment now goes to the full senate for a vote. new developments, regarding shots being fired at homes in prince william county, virginia.. there have been nearly two dozen incidents since last january. and police are investigating another one. officers were called to belleplain court in dumfries tuesday night to investigate a destruction of property call. the homeowner discovered a bullet in an interior wall. police say the shot was fired sometime between friday.. and tuesday. no injuries were reported. a similar incident is under investigation in fairfax county. it happened tuesday afternoon, in a townhouse on clover field circle in herndon. a woman was

dc will be a town on lockdown. security gates are up. the national guard has arrived as we are now just 1 day and six hours away from the swearing in of a new president. while you were sleeping - travel downtown getting cut off. road closures are now in effect near federal triangle, pennyslvania avenue, the memorial bridge and the linconln memorial. at seven a-m, more travel restrictions will begin downtown. only residents and business workers will be allowed through. then at ten this through. then at ten this morning - constitution avenue closes east of the roosevelt bridge. and at two this afternoon, closures begin around union station for trump's dinner there. the closures come - as inauguration events kick off today. jummy olabanji continues our coverage with a front row seat, live from the canadian embassy. in just a few hours - the president-elect will come to washington for good.

62-hundred national guard personel from 44 states. each guard will be able to detain, but not arrest. and they will not carry a side arm. more than three thousand guardsmen will be sworn in to their inauguration duties in a special ceremony at nine this morning at fedex field. and at the stadium armory - thousands more officers officially beginning their inauguration duties. law enforcement agencies from outside the city will be sworn in this afternoon. this year more than three thousand officers from more than 200 departments will serve with d-c police. toss back to anchors

if you're going to the inauguration, prepare for it to rain on trump's parade. that's right - stormwatch seven, tracking some light showers tomorrow. your best bet to stay dry - a poncho or raincoat. umbrellas are not allowed in ticketed areas. there is no out right ban on umbrellas in non-ticketed areas, but the secret service may confiscate it if they believe it's a possible safety hazard. but a little rain isn't too bad compared to past inaugurations.. eileen whelan is here with a look at some of the worst washington weather. eight inches of fresh snow covered the capitol when president john f kennedy was sworn in as our 35th president, back in 19-61/ president reagan's second inauguration in 19-85 wound up being the coldest in history and had to actually be moved in doors. the noon time temperature that day was seven degrees with windchills
