rosenstein" is set to brief the entire senate on the decision to fire former f-b-i director james comey. the request was made by both republican majority leader mitch mcconnell and democratic minority leader chuck schumer. rosenstein is expected to answer questions about his role in comey's firing the white house says the president fired him, in part, becuase of rosenstein's recommendation. we are monitoring the president's twitter feed for any new comments about the ongoing issues at the white house. he hasn't tweeted in more than 12 hours.

we track breaking details by signing up for alerts at wjla.com slash next. breaking overnight.. protests breaking out in tulsa, oklahoma after an officer is acquitted in the shooting death of an unarmed man. sam sweeney is at the live desk. autria, small protests erupt overnight in tulsa after last nights not guilty verdict a jury found officer betty shelby not guilty of manslaughter. she fatally shot terence crutcher during a traffic stop last year.. after he refused commands to lie down. she says she thought he was reaching for a gun, and feared for her life. but video shows.. his hands were up. no gun was found. but crutcher was found to be high on p-c-p. and did not obey officers orders. crutcher's family members say they're outraged by the verdict. the police union

victory for anyone, but they're glad their member was found non guilty. if shelby had been convicted, she could have faced life in prison. developing now.. an officer and suspect recovering after a wild scene in arlington. it began with a traffic stop yesterday afternoon on glebe road. police say the driver hit an officer with a pick up truck, causing them to open fire. that driver was hit and is now at a hospital in critical condition. the officer is recovering from serious but non-life threatening injuries. the incident forced the i-395 southbound ramp to be closed throughout the day. it reopened a little before midnight last night. a six year old boy is dead after getting hit by a car in southeast d-c. the crash happened around 8:30 last night on livingston

the boy was taken to the hospital where he later died. it's still unclear exactly what happened, but d-c police say they are interviewing the driver. happening today.. a community meeting will be held on whether to rename j.e.b. stuart high school in falls church. the school's name is controversial because the school is named after a confederate general. it's a heated and passionate debate from both sides. the meeting will include presentations both for and against the renaming of the school. the meeting will be held from 6:30 until nine tonight.. in j.e.b. stuart high school's auditorium. breaking news from the music world. rocker chris cornell - dead overnight just hours after performing plus - a graduation brawl the comment that started this fight between parents at a tenneseee school. and an air quality alert on this thursday. meteorologist eileen whelan is monitoring what you need to know - next. - code orange air quality

night that he was finally back in rock city. the details surrounding the cornells death arent known. a family representative calls the death sudden and unexpected. the medical examinder will determime a cause. cornell was just 52 years old. a wild scene this week at a tennessee high school... take a look. two groups sharing the same row at this high school graduation begin fighting. it starts as an argument over seats and then gets physical. you see two woman shoving each other, pulling hair... one woman even throwing punches. the school has released a statement calling the whole incident unfortunate. they added those adults were eventually removed from the ceremony. no one was arrested. a black bear is the main attraction of one washington state neighborhood. this guy was spotted at the top of a tree near an elementary school and just refused to come down. wild life agents did everything they

apartment! here you can see him running away on surveillance footage. the attack happened earlier this month along key boulevard. police say the guy was likely let in by a kind stranger- then posed as a maintenance worker as he knocked on doors. if you have information- call police. right now-- police trying to figure out what lead up to a deadly wrong way crash in annapolis. a 22-year-old woman was driving the wrong way when she crashed head on into another car on route 50 in arnold. both drivers were killed. there was an infant in one of the cars, who's now in critical condition. police say how the 22-year old ended up on the highway going the wrong way, is still under investigation. a george washington university law school student is being praised as a hero, after an incident at a metro station. andrew miller intervened to help a man who was being attacked. it happened friday night at the gallery place-chinatown station. john rowley says a group of male teens attacked him for no apparent reason. miller saw that rowley was in trouble, and went
