gillepsie's loss.. tweeting "ed gillespie worked hard but did not embrace me or what i stand for." here's a look at some other races... the lieutenant governor - predictably - also won by a democrat. justin fairfax - beating out republican jill vogel. and in the attorney general's race - democrat incumbent mark herring defeated republican john adams. and another race in virginia - making history and blowing up social media this morning. voters.. electing the nation's first openly transgender candidate into the house of delegates. democrat danica roem beat thirteen-term incumbent bob marshall. roem will now represent the 13th district.. covering the city of manassas park and parts of prince william county. we spoke with roem over the summer about her campaign right here on good morning washington. we'll have much more on her historic win coming up at 5:45. meanwhile in virginia's 12th district.. democrat chris hurst won a seat in the house of delegates. hurst... a former news anchor.. was the boyfriend of television reporter allison parker who was shot and kill

take a look-- witnesses recorded after seeing a jet engine catch fire while taxiing at sea-tac airport. airport officials say the hawaiian airlines jet only had a crew onboard when the fire started. the plane still landedsafely and the fire was extinguished. no one was injured. there are reports the district attorney in manhattan could present a case against harvey weinstein to a grand jury as soon as next week. this comes as a-b-c news reports the movie mogul hired a firm run by former spies to gather information on the dozens of women accusing him of sexual misconduct. the goal was reportedly to keep the women from coming forward. the national transportation safety board is investigating a crash that killed former major leaguer roy halladay. the two-time cy young award winner was piloting his plane when it crashed in shallow water off florida's west coast yesterday afternoon. no one else was on-board. halladay retired in 20-13 after playing for both the blue

crash. a small car slamming into a tractor trailer. this is on old washington road. we are working to get more information on this and will bring you an update as soon as we get it. to the virginia governor's race now... and democrat ralph northam.. beating out republican ed gillespie, in a race that many saw as a referendum on president trump. northam won with 54 percent of the vote. it was an ugly race in a critical swing state... with poltical ads focusing on hot button topics like confederate monuments, race relations and illegal immigration. but now, northam says - it's time for the commonwealth to come together. northam will hold a news conference at ten this morning in richmond.
