3 the final republican presidential debate.... before the iowa caucuses went on as scheduled -- and without donald trump.in the absence of trump, candidates tried to take a more civil tone with their counterparts on the stage. at one point cruz went after the moderators.. saying they were trying to bait candidates into attacking one another.still -- the canidates did clash over differences on immigration, leadership, and electability. 3 (gov. chris christie/(r) presidential candidate): (:59) "there is no reason why you can't stand for principles, go and fight for them, and be able also to have to get things done in government." (sen. rand paul/(r) presidential candidate): "i don't think you have to give up your liberty for a false sense of security."(gov. john kasich/(r) presidential candidate): "there's three lanes, there's the establishment lane, the anti- establishment lane and the kasich lane. and the reason is i've been a reformer all of my career." (1:20)some of the candidates on the main stage were looking past iowa and toward new hampshire.that one is just eight days after the iowa caucus. candidates have

(1:26)fox news said they had an extra podium to the side of the stage. they say they didn't expect to use it, but had it just in case donald trump made a last- minute decision to attend.his event was only three miles away at drake university.mike huckabee and rick santorum showed up, after the two participated in the undercard debate. 3 today, some out of town landlords will learn if they'll lose control of five mismanaged properties in the tri-state. the buildings in question were ruled public nuisances in december. local 12's perry schaible joins us *live* with more on what's happening today. 3 we are told residents of these five properties will be bussed to the hamilton county courthouse for this hearing. the landlords, from new

the facts of the case...today, they'll learn what their responsibilities are for repair, if any. and, what will happen to residents if things are not taken care of.... another option would be for the judge to appoint a receiver - who would take over responsibility for the properties. the proposed receiver is expected to present a plan in court today to make the properties safe and healthy. the lawsuit comes after hundreds of complaints from residents and 18-hundred code violations. it all came to a head when a roof collapsed at the burton apartments in avondale. 3 " i don't want to have to worry about flood it happened in the middle of the night i don't want it to happen again" " it would mean alot to make better healthy living for every tenant mean a whole lot" the landlords from new jersey also own alms hill, entowne manor, shelton gardens, and reids valley view apartments.jo

the court hearing is set for nine o'clock this morning. local 12 will be there. we'll bring you the latest on local 12 and local 12 dot com. 3 right now a deadly listeria outbreak is expanding..the illness was traced to dole packaged salads from an ohio facility.. and now cases are reported in eight states...the centers for disease control says 15 people have been hospitalized and one person has died.dole voluntarily closed its production facility in springfield after the outbreak was reported last week. 3 general electric is laying off engineers in the greater cincinnati area. company managers are giving pink slips to more than 300 engineers in the u.s.. including 238 in evendale.a g- e spokesman says other engineers took early retirement... which reduced the number of layoffs.he says the company has developed a number of new engines in recent years -- and the layoffs come as those projects 3 a local company is testing delivering packages with

loveland is flying an octocopter called the horsefly to test delivering packages. it launches from an electric truck and would be monitored by the driver to ensure there aren't any problems and the package is delivered safely. the horsefly can fly at 50 miles per hour - and carry a package that weighs 15 pounds. 3 marty rucidlo: "we think this will be the future and it's just a question of how long it will take to get all of the regulations in place to make it happen." the f- a- a requires all unmanned aircraft have a person operating them. allow drones to deliver packages. but.. companies hope that will change in the next year or two. 3 a local couple is keeping history alive with a bed and breakfast that's so popular.. it has a prestigious ranking in the world of b- and- b's. the willis graves building dates back to the 1830's. the main house and an additional log cabin are in burlington near the boone county fairgrounds.the b&b is known

3 a new police officer is on duty in middletown and he has four legs.a 3- year old mixed breed named "odin" is the departments third canine.odin graduated from a training program this week and is a certified narcotics officer. his handler is sergent andy warrick, whose former canine partner was put down last month.odin was donated to the police department by the animal friends humane society. 3 facebook wants you to get more expressive.. moving beyond the simple "like" button. the social media giant has been experimenting with six additional emoticons in some international markets.they are called, "reactions."and now... anger, sadness, wow, haha, and love are going global.

newewly `f3 newly release video shows the shooting between ranchers in oregon.. and the f- b- i. officials say lavoy finicum nearly hit an agent while driving around a roadblock. then got out of the truck and allegedly twice reached for a weapon. he was part of a group of protesters that have occupied a wildlife refuge since january second. the leader, ammon bundy, was one of seven arrested. but there are still more holed 3 "one additional person has left the refuge through the checkpoints. we believe there are four people who still

time. since the establishment of the checkpoints, nine people have left the refuge. of those nine people, six have been released and three have been arrested by the fbi." the people still inside the refuge say they want the f- b- i to let them walk away and return home .. without being arrested or confronted. 3 we're tracking disturbing details in flint, michigan. newly released emails show that state workers in flint were being shipped clean water.. a year before residents..the emails, released by the group "progress michigan," are from last january. and they clearly show the tap water was not okay. they reveal violations of drinking water standards in the city. the detroit free press is reporting that coolers of purified water were sent to the department of technology, management and budget. 3 the world health organization says the zika virus is spreading explosively. the disease is linked to serious birth defects.. like children being born with small heads. pregnant women are the ones at serious risk.
