3 new this morning...a wyoming high school graduate who was detained in south korea is now sentenced to 15 years of hard labor in prison. 21-year old otto warmbier admitted on video that he tried to steal a propaganda banner from hotel in january.but he could have made the statement under duress. warmbier is a student at the university of virginia and was visiting north korea with a new year's tour group. 3 the ohio state highway patrol is investigating a deadly accident in clermont county. it happened about nine last night on u.s. 50 near whitney drive. police say 51 year-old randell marsh of cold spring, kentucky lost control of his truck and ended up in an embankment. he died at the scene. investigators say it appears alcohol played a role in the crash. 3 time now is xx

3 a recovery effort continues this morning, after a car went off the i-275 bridge from kentucky into ohio. the car reportedly took a nose dive into the water yesterday afternoon after a 12-car accident. and we were hearing that three people were in the vehicle. the car was found about halfway sides of the river. people who witnessed the crash 3 as a mother . . . . . they can be gone 3 that quick 3 no bodies have been found. an accident re- construction team is still trying to determine how the car went off the bridge. 3
of campaign 2016. ohio governor john kasich wins his home state of ohio in the primary election for the republican candidate for president. recent polls showed a close race was expected between kasich and donald trump. but kasich won handily with close to 47 percent of the vote. trump had about 36 percent. kasich had said he'd drop out of the race if he didn't win. and at a victory party, kasich got very sentimental. 3 you better believe 3 . . . it is about u.s.a. exactly trump did win in north carolina, illinois and florida. u-s senator marco rubio of florida dropped out after losing his home state. 3 bernie sanders was hoping to carry momentum from his big upset in michigan. but, he came up far short in the buckeye state.. hillary clinton also won florida.. and north carolina.. the victories give the former
breathing room.. and she fired up her supporters and went on the attack. her target: donald trump. 3 "when we hear a candidate for president call for rounding up 12 million immigrants, banning all muslims from entering the united states, when he embraces torture, that doesn't make him strong, it makes him wrong. clinton also looked ahead to november, saying the next president must make a difference in people's lives and bring the country back together. sanders says 3 (sen. bernie sanders/(r) presidential candidate)"the reason that we have done as well as we have, the reason that we have defied all expectations is that we are doing something very radical in american politics--we're telling the truth. sanders also told supporters donald trump will never be president.
after john boehner resigned from congress, attention turned to who would replace the man who had that seat for so long. 15 people were running for the republican nomination for the u-s house eighth district. and getting the republican nomination pretty much makes you a shoe-in in this area. warren davidson ended up winning. he'll be part of a special election in june to finish out boehner's term and to run permanently for his seat in november. 3 a u-s senate seat is up for grabs in ohio this year. and cincinnati city councilman p-g sittenfeld won't be the democrat taking on incumbent republican rob portman. local 12's brad underwood spent primary night has reaction. 3 when addressing his supporters pg sitting phil mentioned ted strickland said he reached out to him to congratulate him and he also said he will be willing to do anything you can to make sure strickland defeats portman in the general election (take vo)sittenfeld spoke to the crowd at about
boats were in but they weren't going to get the boats they needed.during the emotional speech said and felt called his campaign one of the most substantive senate campaigns in the country. eight times during his speech he was interrupted by applause very positive room after the loss state wide is a newcomer name not well known outside of cincinnati but sittenfeld says this campaign ultimately helps him. another city council member was seeking a new job. charlie winburn's term is up next year.. and he was running for county recorder. retired judge norbert nadel won the republican nomination instead... the race got harsh.nadel will take on two- term incumbent wayne coates in the fall. 3 people in two local villages went to the polls.. not to vote on candidates.. but to vote on making where they live.. extinct. neville -- in clermont county -- and somerville -- in butler county -- have lost a lot of state funding. so, they voted on disbanding.in neville the proposal to become part of washington township was defeated... the margin was only eight votes.and, in somerville residents voted to dissolve into milford township -- but the margin there was just two votes. 3 technology problems created some problems at the polls in the last election.and there were some snags late on primary day. dan hurley tells us what happened.

cook county state's attorney anita alvarez.. and she's already heavily favored in november.alvarez's critics alleged a coverup involving the mcdonald shooting. 3 the ferguson, missouri city council has unanimously agreed to accept a u-s justice department plan to overhaul its embattled police fource and municipal court system. elected leaders in the saint louis suburb voted last night to approve the d-o-j consent decree. there were negotiations for months, and in february, the council rejected a plan over cost concerns. the justice department sued the next day and now they've reversed that, saying they've worked out concerns. 3 time now is xx a move to demolish a downtown landmark. the former hotel which could become part of a redevelopment plan, just ahead. but first, march madness gets going in dayton. we'll tell you who won the first games of the first four, next, on good morning

tournament, you might get to play in the n-i-t. that's the case with the ohio state buckeyes. they took akron last night in a first round game and won 72-63 in overtime. kan williams had 18 points for the buckeyes, who outscored the zips ten to one in the extra sessions. ohio state made 21 of 23 three throws while akron was just 8 of 20. now ohio state takes on florida tomorrow in 3 n-c-a-a tournament action
first four. the first game was florida gulf coast versus farley-dickinson. florida gulf coast won 96-65 and advances to play north carolina on thursday. the late game was vanderbilt versus wichita state. wichita state won 70-50 and now they play arizona on thursday. the last two "first four games" are tonight. first will be holy cross and southern followed by michigan and tulsa. 3 the university of cincinnati basketball team is waking up in washington state for its first n-c-a-a tournament game. coach mick cronin led the bearcats through their final workout at u-c yesterday before catching their flight out to spokane... the cats are looking for a little bounce back after that gutwrenching 4 overtime loss to uconn... mick's doing his best not to overload his

3 turning to more local news now. a university of cincinnati professor is facing child porn charges. holt parker is accused of distributing and receiving images and videos of young boys and girls -- and trying to cover it up. parker is a professor of classics at u-c. he's suspended.. and is prohibited from any contact with students. 3 a middletown missing case is now being treated as a homicide. lindsay bogan , who had been arrested for prostitution in the past, vanished in september.her boyfriend, eric sexton has pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution. police just got information about a body at a landscaping company on cincinnati dayton road, but investigators did not find anything.there is now a 25 hundred dollar wheel of justice reward for information about what happened to lindsay bogan. you can call the
3040. 3 a man accused of robbing and assaulting several women at local a- t- m's will get another day in court.a judge set another pretrial hearing date for damonta knight.he faces several counts of rape, kidnapping, and weapons charges.detectives say he attacked women last year in northside and clifton.julie freeman faces charges for allegedly being knight's getaway driver during the robberies.she was expected in court but did not appear. 3 the owners of a historic downtown hotel want to tear it down.the dennison hotel on main street near seventh has stood empty for years.the city's historic conservation board would have to sign off on demolition plans.the property sits on the streetcar line.. and an application with the city says it's part of a re-development plan. 3 a new space to honor veterans is taking shape in silverton. work is being done on a new veterans plaza on montgomery road.concrete was poured on this former grassy area to create new pathways.a fountain will be installed.. and so
