a 'female student' -- 'stabbed' during a 'robbery' -- on the 'n-c-state campus'. the 'search' for her attacker -- 'underway' tonight. plus--matthew intensifies. the storm a category four hurricane tonight--we are tracking its latest path. and -- president obama's "playful message" -- to the "tardy" -- 'bill clinton'. eyewitness news starts right now. we're following several 'new' and 'breaking' stories tonight -- including the 'search for a man' -- who stabbed a 'female student' -- on the 'n-c state campus'. good evening i'm steve daniels. and i'm tisha powell. tonight police need your help tracking down the man who did it. the attack happened around 4-o'clock this afternoon in the varsity parking lot--off gorman street. angelica alvarez on the story tonight. --------on cam--------- the robbery happened here in
just trying to get in her car. --------pkg---------- 17:52:20 "this happened in broad daylight, does that concern you? "oh yeah" rusata loher...is a sophomore at nc state... and says she uses this parking lot on varsity... almost everyday. so she was shocked to hear that just two hours before she was getting into her car... another student... doing the same thing... was attacked. "shocking i guess cause there's always so many people here." it was four o'clock. when police say a man... possibly in his 20's approached the student... stabbed her with a smal her book bag.... then ran toward gorman. thankfully... there's an ems right across the street... so the student was able to get quick medical attention after she called police. while the hunt is on for this suspect... this is just one of several assaults on campus this month. "does she need any medical attention." just before midnight on saturday... an r-a called police to report a fellow student had been grabbed by a man and fondled near the bell tower. two weeks ago... police were called to an attempted armed
scott courtyard... just behind kilgore hall. here... they say a man pointed a gun at student... and demanded she give up her cell phone. when she refused...he ran off. those crimes... happening in the dead of the night... but with this latest one happening in the light of day... students are being especially watchful. "there should be more cameras around, security." -------on cam------ no word yet on how the victim is doing... police are only saying her injuries are not life- threatening... and we know that she was able to call for help the suspect is vague.. we know he was wearing a gray sweater and jeans... and he has her black and gray book bag. from nc state...aa...abc11 ewn. our other "big story" tonight -- "tracking the tropics". "matthew" -- 'upgraded' to a "category four hurricane" -- this afternoon. the storm -- 'rapidly gaining strength' -- as it 'bears down' on the carribean. i'm in the "first alert storm center" now with 'chief meteorologist' chris hohman. now -- we need to be focused on where "matthew"
another round of showers and storms plagued parts of the region today as the pesky upper level low over the ohio valley continued the stormy pattern along the east coast. finally, that low is going to weaken and move north, allowing drier air to filter into the water logged region. tonight, after a few evening showers, skies will be mostly clear with lows in the upper 50s and saturday will be a nice change from the last 5 days with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. humidity levels will be dropping, so it should feel pretty good! sunday will be just as nice. the dry and slightly warmer than normal weather will continue into the
hurricane matthew is churning in the caribbean sea and expected to take a turn to the north. matthew is now a category 4 hurricane with 140 mph winds. matthew could be a devastating storm for jamaica and parts of cuba by early next week. some models have this storm off the north carolina coast by mid or late week. so far, most of the models have it staying offshore and then moving out to sea. until it's north of our latitude, we'll be problems -- in the caribbean... it's still 'days away' from landfall... but 'strong waves' -- forced officials to 'close a road' -- along the coast of "santo domingo" -- in the 'dominican republic'. as you can see -- rocks and sand. this "timelapse this "timelapse shot" from a 'nasa satellite' -- shows "matthew" strengthening -- as it made its way -- 'into' the carribean. you can 'track' hurricane matthew -- anytime -- at 'abc11.com.' the 'latest information' and a 'hurricane tracker' -- is on the 'home page'. the situation improving in fayetteville tonight -- one day after historic rainfall led to flooding. three roads remain closed tonight. they are 'strickland bridge road' -- 'galatia
road'. two emergency shelters -- set up to help flood victims -- are 'closed' tonight. today -- engineers made the rounds to survey dams and flood damage. the state transportation secretary -- 'nick - tennyson' -- toured flood damage in harnett county today. tennyson got an 'up close look' at some of the hardest hit areas. eight roads are still closed tonight. some still underwater. 'new tonight' -- the attorney representing 'u- n-c football player' -- 'allen - artis' -- thinks 'police photos' -- of the woman who says she was 'raped' -- may've been 'altered'. pictures with eyewitness news. she tells us -- 'police' took the photos of 'delaney - robinson' -- in the hospital. 'robinson' accuses 'artis' of raping her -- at a 'campus apartment' - on february 14th -- while she was drinking with friends. the images were obtained through a legal form of 'discovery'. take a look at 'this' photo -- compared to the 'one' shared at the 'news conference'.... when the charges were 'filed'. 'sutton' tells us -- experts who 'examined' the photos -- report 'their' preliminary review -- finds the photo 'shared' by robinson's attorney -- had the "contrast
robinson was 'involved' -- in 'any way'... and plans to do a 'more detailed' investigation of the images. robinson's attorney tells us -- the "photograph she presented at the press conference -- came directly from the u-n-c department of public safety." new tonight-- the remaining body camera video --- from the charlotte police shooting death of keith scott--will be released next week. scott's family made the request late this afternoon. the department released dash- cam video last weekend--that shows scott being shot--as he stepped back from his s-u-v. a separate body cam video showed the aftermath as of to the scene. the new footage will be made public--after the family sees it. a 'woman' -- is the victim of a 'terrifying' home invasion -- in durham's "woodcroft neighborhood". our crew 'on the scene' says-- the woman 'called 9- 1-1'... saying three guys 'barged' into her home. when the' d-p-d' arrived on 'kingsmount court'-- the guys "jumped through" a plate glass window-- and 'got away'. police releasing these photos of the guys they're looking for... they took-off in a 'silver' toyota corolla with 'ohio' tags.
police searching for a man they say shot a mother and daughter in their home. it happened september 20-th in the 700 block of massey avenue. lamonte colbert is wanted on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. both victims suffered non-life threatening injuries. new tonight-- raleigh police charge a second teen--with the murder of a man on capital boulevard. officers arrested christoper royster today. police say royster -- and 'shyhem - wilkerson' -- shot and killed 'aaron - jacobs' last wednesday -- in the '44- hundred block' of capital boulevard. royster is being center. tonight, a "fort bragg soldier" -- 'locked up' in 'cumberland county' -- on 'rape charges'. 'fayetteville police' arrested 34 year old "cristobal - vallejo" today. he's charged with 'second degree rape'.... and 'other violations' -- in connection with a 'crime' -- on september 10th. he's in jail -- on a 100- thousand dollar bond. 'new' tonight -- we have some 'answers' -- about the 'death of a woman' -- whose 'body' -- was found in a 'freezer'. "arma- roush" -- was found 'dead' -- in goldsboro -- earlier this year. the 'autopsy'
