3 we have new details this morning about a major fire in haywood county. officials now say it destroyed a commercial garage and four apartments. it happened off soco road in maggie valley on monday. when crews arrived, they saw flames shooting from the windows. witnesses say there was a loud boom before the fire broke out. people displaced are staying with relatives or at a hotel. 3 3 a shooting in woodfin... leaves a neighborhood reeling. police say a 35-year-old man was shot in the chest along wellington drive... and is still recovering at mission hospital. 34-year-old scotty robinson has been charged with attempted first degree murder... and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. 3 terri smith, neighbor:"it either was inside the house and quietly done or whatever because i haven't really seen much. there's been a little bit more traffic with like cars stopping at the house, but you don't know if that's like visiting people or if that's something else going on down there." woodfin police say robinson and the victim know each other... and this violence. 3 3 governor mccrory's office is offering a reward in a cold case murder in yancey county. 69-year-old james anglin was found shot to death in his home in burnsville in october 20-13. the state is offering a reward of up to five thousand dollars for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. 3

resigns after he was arrested for domestic violence. 26 year-old charles stamper is charged with assault on a female. police say they were called to a physical altercation involving stamper and his girlfriend on saturday. stamper was held in the tribal jail for 72 hours. 3 3 the owner of a business in haywood county hopes surveillance video will help track down some thieves. alex vance says a man smashed the window of his tire shop along the smoky mountain expressway earlier this week. yesterday morning, someone from another business spotted the empty cash register. surveillance video shows the car the thieves were driving. ((stop)) 3 we know they're driving a 2- door honda civic, dark blue. and he was wearing a carharrt coat with a hoodie. businesses in the area are now stepping up security measures. if you have any information about this robbery, call the haywood county sheriff's office. 3 3 3 suspects are on the run and officers need your help tracking them down. in this morning's fugitive files, we are teaming up with the asheville police department. joining us is christina

otto debruhl passed away on sunday. he was 81. debruhl held the register of deeds position for 33 years before retiring in 2011. funeral services are tomorrow at one o'clock at trinity baptist church in asheville. visitation starts at 11 am at 3 3 some people are worried that henderson county is losing touch with its farming roots. a stretch of land off highway 280 near the french broad may eventually be nverted into a park. 20 years ago, county leaders say the community foundation gave the parcel to the county with that condition. but the head of the agricultural advisory committee in millslsiver says that's regrettable because so much farmland has already been lost. 3 3 happening today... the youngest of "the little rock nine" will speak at western carolina university. it is part of the college's weeklong celebration of doctor martin luther king junior. carlotta walls-la-nier was just 14- years old when she was confronted by protestors at central high school in 19-57. she will speak at 6:30 tonight in the grand-room of the a-k hinds university center. the event is free and open to the public. 3 3 it was an intense compeititon at the u-s cellular center. kids from the local salvation army boys and girls club worked on portraits for a contest. they researched their african-american role models ... and drew them for the cellular center's first annual black history month art competition. one girl drew a portrait of civil rights hero claudette colvin - who she called brave. 3 52:56 she was the first black lady to get arrested because she sat on the bus where it said whites only the finalists in the competition will have their potraits on display at the cellular center for the month of february ...
