happy halloween, everybody. i'm amy coveno. we'll get to the top stories in just a minute, first, look who is in the weather center, you found your way back, welcome back, josh judge. josh: we've got a nice one to talk about. hampton, 30 degrees, it's a chilly start. check out your current temperatures, it's 36 in manchester, that's the warmest spot around, everyone else is upper 20's, lower 30's. central new hampshire, mid 20's in the valley and check out manchester. under clear skies, a nice start and plenty of sunshine will help warm things up to very pleasant levels for this time of year. we are going to watch this weather system to our west. it does contain some rain showers, it will be around for the second half of the weekend, but not before we get a nice halloween in. temperatures 50 to 55. afternoon clouds thickening up and good for the

your community does that month. we'll have a timeline for that coming up in a few minutes. amy: we begin with news from overseas. a russian plane carrying 224 people has crashed in egypt. the plane vanished from radar 23 minutes after takeoff. 217 passengers, seven through members were on board. ambulances have been dispatched to the crew site. we'll continue to update this story throughout the morning. now to a traffic alert in nashua, east hollis to harbor avenue and prospect to harbor are closed all due to an overnight car accident. nashua police say a driver struck a telephone pole. these are photos taken from the scene by a news 9 viewer. you can see the telephone pole tipping over due to the severity of the crash. no word as to injuries. we'll continue to update this story as well throughout the morning.

nearly two dozen people after they broke out in rochester friday. both fires cost thousands in damages. our stephanie woods has an update on both instances. >> i could see flames dripping down like a waterfall. and i heard people, and i got my son and husband as soon as possible. >> flames tore through before 1:00 trapping some people like christy siebert inside. >> neighbors came over and helping. and somebody grabbed my son from me, i was trying to get him down the stairs, it was bad. firefighters got everyone out alive and sent one man to the hospital for smoke inhalation. but the fire damaged the apartment building and displaced 20 people. >> i don't have any plans. one day at a time.

>> at 1:00 on friday, another apartment caught fire on chestnut street. the residents were able to get out unscathed, alive. but people like joseph-- >> i lost everything. this isn't my jacket, i was standing outside without a jacket. >> the red cross helped 25 people find a place to sleep. >> red cross workers are on call 24 hours a day. when they get a call from the firefighters or city or something like that says there's a fire, red cross volunteers get uppen pa -- up and scramble. >> halloween can be the night. and recommends electric lights in jack-o-laterns. if it keeps your family from

injury, it's worth it. amy: firefighters believes both of the fires were accident arl al. if you'd like to donate to the red cross go to wmur.com. police received reports of two suspicious people at a gas station on wednesday evening. when they arrived they found shane kimball. officers arrested him and charged him with resisting arrest. in manchester alone, there have been 65 drug overdose deaths and more than 500 overdose calls so far this year. those statistics were the focus of a round table on friday. representatives annie cusser and frank guinta are working on a task force on heroin addiction. monitoring access to treatment

>> our goal is to make that on a federal level so they will respond across the board. we put together legislation we think is a start, number one, so that congress knows what the true problems are. amy: both head to washington next week to discuss what they heard at the round table discussion. senator jean sha heen shaheen, employees are working 12 hours a day to keep up. and shaheen's bill would have forensic staffing. the season runs through november 10th and firearms the 11th through december 6th. hunters took nearly 2000 years

up from last year, officials say conditions should be pretty good. parts of the maritime heritage believed to be part of a ship's hull, kicked ashore on tide conditions. hundreds of vessels and crew have been lost over the years, most never seen again until circumstances like this one. >> combination of king tide with a northeast storm, that's what the fisherman call a bottom raker. it disturbs so much of the sands in the bottom and the gravel, that things that have been buried there literally for centuries, get picked up with the surf and the surge and get pushed ashore. amy: work is underway to identify and catalog the pieces and then find a permanent public home for the collection in town. halloween is today, but several

amy: at least 27 people are dead over 100 injured after a fire broke out a the a nightclub in romania overnight. witnesses say it was crowded and that pyrotechnics triggered a massive stampede to the exit. the president of romania saying it's a sad moment for all of us, the country declared three days of national mourning. to texas where two school buses were stranded by flash floods on friday. deputies four special needs students from a bus caught in high water. an hour later, first responders pulled out three students and two adults from another school bus at another location. 20 other water rescues were reported after heavy rains pummelled central texas. well, the kickoff one little trick-or-treater gave the first

>> now, josh judge with your storm watch forecast. >> happy halloween, here we are with a pretty nice forecast to talk about for today. things are going to look pretty good. we have a couple of showers to go through this weekend, but it shouldn't be a real big thing. here is a look at your current temperatures. boy, it's cold out there, huh? 22 degrees in wakefield is one of the cold spots through the region. as we go through the day, 22 turns into 40's and perhaps around 50 or low 50's. you head farther south and temperatures get warmer. 30 degrees feels chilly in

but as we go through the day, the temperatures turn into the low 50's and mid 50's and the clouds may thicken up later in the day as we get into the day, a few clouds ahead, rather, of a system moving in tomorrow. average high today will be 55. close in a lot of areas, we might not make it. sunrise, 7:19. sunset, 5:39. i tell you that for two reasons. that falls during the trick-or-treating hours for some community as well as the fact that tomorrow evening, it will be much earlier. that's right, we're falling back with the temperatures tomorrow night. take a look at clouds or lack thereof. nothing going on at the moment. you can see the entire northeast or at least new england and much of the northeast is in the clear right now. it's this weather system off to our west. this will pull through during the overnight and morning hours, just the clouds overnight and a

tomorrow and during the earlier morning hours of tomorrow, even tomorrow morning, it's not steady rain, it's passing steady showers. behind the system, the warmer air starts to drag farther north and see the temperatures heading upwards each of the next several days and crescendoing, wednesday, thursday, above average in terms of temperatures. probably not quite as warm as the last couple of days of this week were. 60's to another 70 degrees. here is a look at futurecast today. through lunchtime and early afternoon, pure sunshine and a few high clouds, and for any trick-or-treating hours you might be observing. rain might come through tomorrow morning, but most of the hours rain-free and scattered showers off and on and mid day hours of tomorrow. in the afternoon, breaks could form, maybe a stray shower.

and partly sunny skies and monday looks very, very close. let's take an in depth look for the hour by hour trick-or-treating forecast, if you're celebrating tonight. temperatures at 5 p.m. probably the low 50's in most spots and then falling into the 40's as we get deeper into the evening, trick-or-treating hours, and there's a look at the high temperatures around the state for today. check out your next seven days, here is a look at it. look the a the temperatures heading upwards for the week ahead. we turn the clocks back tonight. clouds and showers tomorrow morning and lots of sunshine all week long with temperatures steadily advancing closer and closer to 70 degrees. >> it's a spectacular fall. >> can't complain. >> not a bit. unusual nuptials this week. nightmare new england in litchfield hosted its first wedding for a special couple who usually scare guests.

portsmouth 30 degrees at this hour,waiting on the sun to rise. a look at top stories on the half hour, a manchester man is chase. they tried to stop him in greenland and the pursuit continued on 101 west. presidential hopeful bernie derry. he plans to file next week. several candidates have stops today. a red sox pitcher falls victim to a carjacking. police say a man pointed a gun at the driver and ordered him out of the car. let's check with josh judge with a look at the halloween forecast. josh: oh, yes, it's nice and it's spooky when it's dark out. in the 30's for meredith, a chilly start. many places with 20's showing up on the temperatures this

morning, 30's elsewhere, we will recover nicely into another nice day. clear skies at the moment. you have to look all the way out to the great lakes to find the rain, but that rain will find us as we head into the day tomorrow. mostly in the morning hours. early to mid morning hours, maybe through lunchtime and then tomorrow afternoon, i think a lot drier, not bad at all. a look where the high temperatures will be, some sunshine for the first two-thirds of today and then later today into the trick-or-treating hours, the clouds will thicken up. no rain expected today or tonight. we will have a time line for not only trick-or-treating, but when that rain arrives and our full forecast, that's coming up in just a couple of minutes. >> a manchester man, police say they attempted to stop him on

concord and former virginia governor jim gilmore will speak at a veterans day commemoration. and bernie sanders is stumping in concord, warner and lebanon today. the republican national committee is suspending its partnership with nbc news and will not allow the network to co-host a presidential debate in february. they sent a letter after the heavily criticized debate and the rnc says they did not focus on economics as promised. and some were down right offensive. it's daylight saving time, not just time to change the clocks, you should change your batteries on your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. and batteries should be replaced at least once a year. today is halloween. throngs of children will be

maybe a degree or two below normal, but lots of sunshine on the way for today. 20 to 25 in the north country and right now in the upper valley as well. 27 in keen and 29 in concord and lower 30's across southeastern new hampshire. let's check out our storm watch 9 spotter network and temperatures there are showing up on the nippy side as we see the temperatures in the upper 20's and lower 30's across southeastern new hampshire and it's more of the same, upper 20's and a few lower 30's out there. in the central part of the state. some spots are showing up there with some upper 20's. 29 in barnstead and moultonborough, and up in the northern part of the state as well. a hard frost going on in the state right now. there are the clear skies. as we widen the view you'll notice to the west, a few clouds. maybe you're seeing those to our

we'll widen them so everybody can see them. we've got the rain over the central lakes region and this is racing towards us, but taking all day and all night to do so. we get the sunshine in today. clouds thicken up late this afternoon and high, thin, wispy clouds. around trick-or-treating hours. thickening up through the morning and mid day. is it a rainy day tomorrow? no, but maybe a sprinkle or two. behind that warmer air gets dragged up. each of the next several days, warmer and warmer, a delightful week ahead for sure. oh, look, once again at your futurecast here. the outlook for today, looking good, sunshine all day. i mentioned some high, thin clouds may move in this afternoon and that's all it would be. trick-or-treating hours for many people start around 5:00 and i have it paused here and end around 7:00 or 8:00 and that's where i have it here. you see the clouds thickening up during the trick-or-treating

tomorrow is scattered showers. notice how the front breaks apart as it moves overhead. we're not looking for heavy rain often and plenty of dry times tomorrow. as we get into the afternoon, maybe a leftover sprinkle. sunshine of breaking, drier conditions and plenty of sunshine is on the way. take a look at the temperatures we're expecting for today. these are your high temperatures. for trick-or-treating hours, we're talking 40's and 50's. these are the overnight lows as you can see, 30's more the most part. and lower 40's in a few spots. if you're heading out. a quick look at that. the temperatures are on the good side. as we go through the rest of the week ahead. they get better as we get into the 60's and near 70 degrees by the time we get to wednesday and thursday, the only rain chance is tomorrow and those will are scattered showers as the clock says there, don't forget to set them back tonight.

a lot of places in western new hampshire, central new hampshire, and concord at 29, rochester and portsmouth, nashua hall 29. 33 degrees there in manchester. as we go through the day. we warm up a little bit into the 40's and lower 50's. here is how it looks around 5:00 where a lot of communities start their trick-or-treating at 6:00. not a lot of places, but some day. 40's and so few of us get deeper into the evening, upper 30's in parts of northern new hampshire. this is 9:00 and you can see temperatures down into the 40's in central and southern new hampshire. so it will be getting chillier. overall, fairly pleasant trick-or-treating conditions if you're going to be outside and not nearly as chilly tonight into tomorrow morning as warmer air mass will be pushing in. check out the conditions. clear skies at the moment, and all over new england and much of the northeast as well. it's off to our west here that

we have our next weather system that we'll be watching. it's not a major one, you can see it stretches from the northern part of the country and farther south and beyond to the bottom of the country. as it moves through, it weakens considerably during the morning hours of tomorrow. it will not be bringing heavy downpours for sure, just some scattered showers tomorrow morning and mid day and drags some warmer air behind it. so the temperatures are going to be warming up each of the next several days. let's put it in motion here and show you the temperatures and conditions out there are going to be pleasant today. late day and here is the beginning of trick-or-treating. and a few high clouds out there. we'll start to thicken up and do so during the evening hours. thickening up the clouds and may still see the moon and stars through the clouds at times and then thickening overnight and there will be a shower in new hampshire and most of us weighed in, with some scattered showers. and notice how they're broken apart and weakened considerably.

black-eyed susan that has seed tops are good for the birds. they'll feed on them and use the foliage to hide from predators. >> do we cut them to the ground? >> no, only cut them back and make sure to leave a three inch stub and maybe a few standing perennials, some of them will do better if you don't cut them back until spring. things like ornamental grasses or upright where the plant is at the surface, it's better to have winter protection for the plant. >> will you show us how to cut one of these? >> this is a white flox and we'll go in and bruin them back until there's a three-inch stub at the base. if you have plants that have powder y powdery mildew put them in

sunshine highest temperature right now because warmer air is streaming in high up in our atmosphere, aloft, ahead of a warm-up that will gradually be working in this direction the next few days. also, the cooler air often drains into the valleys at night and that happened last night for surement we call that an inversion. here is a look at temperatures in southeastern new hampshire. upper 20's and lower 30's out there. it's a very chilly start and notice it if you head outside early this morning for any reason. the sunshine is helping cut it down just a little bit on the chill though.

southwestern new hampshire. central new hampshire, upper 30's and lower 20's. you can see the variability of the temperatures about, even three, four, five degrees. the good portion of the day, you can see new england in the clear until we get into the afternoon. some of the clouds in the weather systems to our west will breed into the sky during the afternoon hours, high, thin clouds slowly thickening as we go through the evening hours. those showers pull in and bring warmer air as well. as i mentioned each of the next several days we go up a few degrees. today, plenty of sunshine, but the high clouds will move it and they're thickening this afternoon and this even when some people will be out trick-or-treating. maybe a couple of overnight rain

amy: first let's check with josh judge with a look at the forecast. josh: it's a nice one out there. lots of sunshine from our goffstown camera looking at blue skies, off to the distance to the west. you can see a few clouds and those will slowly meander in through west and especially through this afternoon. look at chilly temperatures, 20's in many locations, low 30's in the quote, unquote, warmest spots around this morning. clear skies right now, but off to our west as you can see, showers arriving, but not until tomorrow. we get in this halloween, no problemo. tonight and tomorrow as well very scattered in nature and 50, 55 for today and trick-or-treating hours, somewhere between 5:00 and 8:00. we'll talk about that. southern following --

amy: a manchester man led police on a chase. they tried to stop joshua buzza. the driver got away despite attempts with spike strips. buzza is facing charges including driving with a suspended license. nashua police are looking at someone who tried to rob a bank. td on main street. this happened on wednesday. an elderly man was walking from the bank when the suspect came from behind him and grabbed his bank bags. the victim wasn't hurt. if you have information, you're asked to call the nashua crime line. police say a man pointed a gun at a driver in a convenience store parking lot on friday and ordered him out of the car. one of the passengers with pitcher brian johnson. police caught the suspect with the help of the k-9. the suspect fired a shot.

can see, the temperatures in southeastern new hampshire mimicking what we have at the airport. and southwestern new hampshire, a lot of upper 20's still out there this morning and in the lakes region, the upper valley, we're in the lower 30's and upper 20's in spots. pretty much all of northern new hampshire, jackson has 33 degrees, elevation can help your temperature go up or down just a little bit. the temperature in mount washington right now is the warmest in the entire state in the upper 30's because of the inversion going on, cooler temperatures in the valleys and milder air streaming in aloft, meaning in the upper parts of the atmosphere before we get warmer each day of the next as well. blue skies at the moment. there are some clouds well out to the west which will slowly stream in through the afternoon and into this evening. but the rain stays away until at least overnight and tomorrow, the showers break apart into very scattered showers for tomorrow and then bring up

milder air. as i mentioned, as we go into the upcoming week, not as warm perhaps as some of the days as this past week, not too bad when november, tomorrow. the futurecast showing clear skies with some of the high, thin clouds, thickening up this afternoon, so it will be go from sunny to partly sunny this afternoon and then the clouds thickening up during the trick-or-treating hours and overnight hours and then overnight we could see a couple of spot showers here and there, and tomorrow as well. notice how they're broken up here and there, sprinkle or a shower or two, with the cloudy skies in between and then in the afternoon, breaks of sun may work their way out and that will help temperatures feel a little milder as well. speaking of that. monday, we get lots of sunshine in here, and a lot of of places hitting 60 or warmer from there. and ghosts and goblins this expect.
