anything that's still lingering out there is going to be done within the hour. this is what you can expect as we move through the overnight into tomorrow morning. clearing skies. we're going to see those clouds breaking up, but it's going to turn breezy overnight, pulling in that colder and drier air. a hard freeze overnight tonight. make sure you protect those vulnerable plants. if you have anything planted, put down a sheet or a tarp or bring the plants in if possible. the suburbs could have some slick spots tomorrow morning. a freeze warning is in effect for the coast, because these are the locations where the growing season has begun. farther to the north and west, some temperatures will be in the teens overnight tonight. i'll tell you when we finally warm things upcoming kom coming up.

brussels terror investigation. prosecutors say they have a confession from the man in the hat. ending a massive search since last month's attacks. authorities say the suspect admits his involvement in the airport bombings seen right here in that white jacket. they also believe he played a role in the paris attacks as well. >> reporter: mystery solved. the man in the hat seen wheel explosives at the brussels airport has confessed. it's this man, mohammed abrini. he's admitted being the man seen fleeing the bombings, telling investigators he threw his jacket in a garbage can and sold his hat. they can't rule out the possibility that he's lying to cover for someone else. he was one of six men arrested yesterday. four of them have now been charged with mass murder.

we heard the voice of one of the killers for the first time, ordering the taxi to take them to the airport. taxi at 7:15, carnage at 7:58. but today, murder charges and the hope of justice for so many victims. a new and disturbing allegations tonight involving former house speaker dennis hastert. federal prosecutors say he sexually abused several teenage boys during his time as a high school wrestling coach in illinois. prosecutors say the man was just 14 years old when hastert sexually abused him in a hotel room. they say he also abused two

a team manager. hastert pleaded guilty back in october of trying to pay off one of the victims. the government recommends a prison sentence of up to six months. >> this is why a federal judge or any judge is in an unenviable position, because you have to balance these evil offense versus what is truly good deeds for decades. >> his attorney says the public shaming and isolation have already been a significant punishment for hastert. they're asking for probation. that sentencing is set for april 27th. still ahead, a teenager missing for nearly a week turns up safe. where he was found. plus, protests and outrage growing tonight over a pet store owner accused of caging dogs in a freezing cold van. also, will this firefighter couple be suspended after their wedding invitation stirs up only

a missing 13-year-old boy from long island has turned up safe. the teen was found with family

about 90 miles from his home. police said they were very concerned because there was no known reason for him to run away. no word on how he got to his family in montgomery. tonight we're learning more about a man killed in a shootout with police in new jersey. the prosecutors officer says franklin township police officers were chasing grant early this morning. grant got into a shootout with officers. he was shot and killed. he was wanted for not paying child support and a drug violation. a woman who is serving 20 years in prison for killing her son with secret salt infusions. >> the child to the doctors and the hospitals seeking help, or you any glekt neglect them. i didn't ever once harm my son.

our best fuel ever! . looks like love wins. two new jersey volunteer firefighters will not be suspended for posting their wedding invitation on facebook after all. danielle inadvertently violated fire department rules when she used pictures of the department coats as you see there. the policy has since been changed to allow equipment to be used for positive news such as wedding announcements. take a look at this google map. three cast-aways wound up here in the middle of nowhere to the north of australia on a remote pacific island and they used palm fronds and spelled out the word help on that island. a navy pilot spotted that word and made the rescue. can you imagine?

taking a small boat trying to do a little island hopping. amazing. >> pretty smart. it worked. >> definitely not feeling beachy here. no. it's going to be a while before we get temperatures close to average for this time of year, which is right around 60 degrees. we do have that number in the seven-day forecast. but you're going to have to wait for that. overnight tonight as a matter of fact temperatures drop below freezing. some of us will even be in the low 20s, the upper teens is possible in a couple spots. it will be dry on sunday but still chilly for the entire day from start to finish. we're already below freezing in parts of the tri-state area. we're all going to drop below freezing. 40 now in central park and white plains. 36 in bridgewater. we did get a little bit of snow, but really no accumulation. most of it was rain.

slowly pulling away. and then we see a return of the sunshine tomorrow. but with the cold air aloft we will see some puffy cumulus clouds develop in the day. milder air arrives just in time for the start of the workweek, but so does a cold front. we'll see a few showers arrive. but noontime you might see a sprinkle or two, but not a lot of rain on monday. monday and tuesday, we're looking at high temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. overnight tonight, though, dipping down below freezing throughout the entire area. 27 in scarsdale and smith town. we'll drop down to 23 in rockaway.

tomorrow, we'll see a good amount of sunshine from time to time. the puffy clouds developing. it is going to be very cold and freezing to start though, the a temperature of 30 degrees to start. at 7:00, 46 degrees. it won't be as breezy as we head into the late afternoon and early evening. but for the mets game, 46 degrees first pitch at 1:10 p.m. it is going to be a brutally cold day at the ballpark once again. we could see some rain showers late in the day. more rain on tuesday. mid 50s on wednesday and drying out again. finally looking at some nice weather toward the end of the workweek. highs right arounds 60 degrees, plenty of sunshine. >> that's going to be a breath of fresh air compared to what we just got through.

start of the year. he got himself into a jam in the fourth, but worked out of it. the pinstripes win. the stanley cup playoffs begin on saturday. the rangers wrapped up their regular season this afternoon, hosting the red wings at the garden. third period all tied at 1-1. kevin hayes redirects it and then makes it 2-1 new york. raanta got the starting goal. he made 31 saves. the rangers hold onto win 3-2. the red wings still made the playoffs for a 25th consecutive season. midway through the extra session, a breakdown in the isles' defense proves to be costly. buffalo wins 4-3.
