get out of the past. get fios. >> i'm prince amukamara with the new york giants, and you're watching giants kickoff on fox 5. >> brought to you by toyota, let's go places. >> welcome back, everybody. he was somewhat of a forgotten man, if you will, until his breakout game last week against the redskins. number 82, reuben randle, is the focus of this week's player profile. >> player profile brought to you by: >> so, reuben, you catch only four passes your first two games, seven in the third one, 160 yards and a touchdown. did you need that game, if you will, to restore some confidence? >> i wouldn't say restore
confidence, but i think to kind of get that feeling of being used in the offense and not feeling frustrated. you want to make a play for your team since you're struggling and not being able to move, you kind of get upset with yourself and make yourself feel like you're not doing what you're supposed to do. but the coaches did a good job responding to me, so i stayed within the game plan and not get down on myself to make sure when the opportunity do come, that i was prepared and ready to make plays. >> you're now in your fourth year as a giant, but with victor and odell, do you sometimes feel you're the forgotten guy in that group? >> i can be. but i don't really have a problem with that at all. like i said, my job's kind of come out here and make some plays. of i know guys have a bigger name than i have, and that's acceptable to me. i just want to be able to be trustworthy within the organization, make sure i'm reliable as a player and a teammate. >> odell, every time you speak to him, he's always saying you and he have that special bond because of that one year you
spent together at lsu. >> yeah. that year we definitely became close. we were roommates throughout the season, and he wanted me to stay another year with him. but i decided to leave. i just kept in contact with everybody, once i left, he was fortunate to get drafted here, and we became even closer once he became a giant. >> with you, victor and odell all healthy, do you get the feeling you have a chance to be the most potent air attack in the national football league? >> we can be. but that's going to be on us. of we have to put in the work and make sure we're all doing our jobs and make sure we're accountable and making plays. on paper you can say one thing, but it's going to be up to us to prove ourselves as the best receivers. >> when it comes to matters of the big blue, this guy is in the know. he's the giants' radio beat reporter. paul offers his insights into this weekend's game with the
>> hi, paul. looking at this game, what's the biggest problem the bills present the giants? >> it's got to be their pass rush, duke, because in each of their three games they've had two quarterback sacks and over their first three games have 19 total quarterback hits. they know how to get to the passer, and they know how to be disruptive. >> so far the giants have not rushed the ball the way they want to. how do they get that running game going? >> the problem is the giants are not a very strong run-blocking team, and the bills, they're number one ranked in the nfl in defending the rush. so chances are the giants won't go that route at all. they will try to use a controlled passing game, short passes, quick three-step drops and try to control the clock that way as opposed to running against a brick wall which is the bills' defense. >> conversely, we've heard it many times, rex ryan likes to ground and pound. and, obviously, the bills have
had success running the football. how do the giants stop that? >> well, you've got to make sure, first and foremost, that you control the quarterback, because he's going to try to take off with it. taylor's got great legs. williams is more of a downhill power runner. although he's broken two long touchdowns already this year, giants gotta play sound football. know your gaps, don't get caught out of position. play conservatively and do what you're supposed to do. >> so, paul, how do you go about stopping taylor? he can create big plays. >> well, steal a blueprint from the patriots. they sacked him eight timings. three of those eight sacks he held the ball too long. how does it happen? you must control his rushing lanes from the outside and then get a little push from the front of the pocket. if you do that, this young quarterback -- who's only making his forty nfl -- fourth nfl start, he's going to get confused. >> what's the one thing you'd
like to see the giants improve most on? >> they've got to get that pass rush going. quite frankly, duke, if you don't have it going, it's going to be awfully hard to win a string of games togegether. you've got to be able to get to the quarterback. >> all right. it's now time for our big blue fantasy picks. >> this week i like shane vereen at running back. that will set you back $4300. somewhat of a fantasy bargain. >> well, duke, this week i'm expecting big things out of giants' wide receiver number 13, odell beckham jr. beckham, of course, is $9100, and those are our fantasy picks of the week. >> fantasy picks brought to you by: >> still to come on "giants kickoff" brought to you by
let's go places. >> i just enjoy life, man, that's all it is. really nothing more to it, just, you know, it's such a blessing and a privilege to be able to play in the nfl. this is what you've been doing since, you know, you were a kid. i'm going to go out every day, and i'm going to have fun. i'm going to dance, i'm going to laugh, i'm going to smile, and i'm going to encourage my teammates to do the same. >> welcome back. the giants take on the bills tomorrow in buffalo, and you can watch all the game action right here on fox 5 beginning for you at 1 p.m. >> and don't forget immediately following each a and every giants' game, you want to be sure to flip over to our sister station, my 9, for giants postgame live. >> co-captain on the super bowl 21 championship squad, now giants' great george martin continues to make an impact on the local community in this
>> eyes up, all right? >> recently metlife stadium played host to a youth football and cheerleading camp. hundreds of future stars took to the field trying to emulate their favorite players. >> i tried to copy odell beckham jr. >> yeah? how'd you do? >> good. >> did you make any one-handed catches? >> yes. >> the 13th annual event hosted by minority athletes network in conjunction with local law enforcement from new york city and newark, new jersey. >> we're building the divide enforcement, and this is a great way to do it because we've got almost 400 young people out here who are really being pampered and being instructed by both concerned citizens and law enforcement. and we think that's a great deal. >> anytime that we can interact in a positive aspect with the community and especially the kids is, of course, important. >> what's up! get in there and hit it. >> the event is meant to teach children not only the fundamentals of the game, but life as well. >> one, two, three, four! >> boys and girls.
this is also the first year we've included cheerleaders as a separate part of our operation, and it's very well attended. the girls are enthusiastic, the guys are enthusiastic, the parents in the stands are excited. we're very pleased. >> i learned motion and all of the fun stuff. >> martin co-founded the nonprofit with fellow giant harry carson and ron johnson in 1989 to promote positive opportunities for inner city youth. >> it's a great collaboration between the new york giants, metlife stadium, law enforcement. duke, you can't ask for better. [cheers and applause] >> all right, giants fans. now here's your chance to get involved in our giants kickoff show. just tweet us your favorite big blue pictures, comments or questions using the hashtag fanskickoffcorner. >> it's your chance to be on our next edition before each and every giants' game on fox 5.
from @eddiemags56. he tweets this little guy here is enjoying the first of many big blue games at metlife stadium. thanks for the picture, eddie. >> still to congresswoman on "giants kickoff," russ and duke with their picks for tomorrow's game. then we mutt members of big blue to the test when it comes to their knowledge of the buffalo bills. >> i told you, i'm feeling good. >> you're cocky. >> i am. i'm feeling good. >> know your foe is straight ahead.
wendy' s asked this pitmaster to share his secret barbecue sauce recipe. he did not. but he did give us this... your sauce should be a little smoky, a little spicy and a little sweet. got it. so come try our smoky, spicy or sweet barbecue sauce, served on top of hickory smoked pulled pork with crunchy slaw on toasted brioche bun or over natural cut pulled pork cheese fries. wendy' s a barbecue
>> i'm john power in with the new york giants, and you're watching giants kickoff on fox 5. >> brought to you by toyota, let's go places. >> we've got the chance to be a really good football team if we can keep putting complete games together. unfortunately, we haven't put a complete game together yet, but at least we were able to close out last week, and we've just got to keep building off of that. >> all right. it's now time once again to challenge members of the big blue on their knowledge of this week's opponent, the buffalo bills, so here we go with this week's "know your foe." >> know your foe brought to you by: >> what is the name of the place where the buffalo bills play their home games?
last word is stadium. >> ralph wilson stadium? >> there you go. you're rocking. in super bowl 25, this bills' kicker was wide right in his missed field goal attempt, closing seconds, allowed the giants to win the game 20-19. >> seen this a million times, and i cannot remember -- >> what was the kicker's name? multiple choice. a., scott brunell, b., scott norwood or, c., scott stevens. >> norwood. >> norwood, it is. the buffalo bills have appeared in four consecutive super bowls. >> that's true. >> how many of those super bowls did they win? one, two or none? >> zero. >> zero. zero, it is. [laughter] the name of the current bills' head coach is -- [laughter] >> you had to think for a second, big guy. >> i did. >> william buffalo bill cody was, a, the founder of the buffalo bills, b, the current
orthopedic surgeon of the buffalo bills or, c, a wild west showman. [laughter] >> a? >> c. >> a wild west showman? >> yeah. >> the nickname of bills' running back mccoy is, a, dynamite, b, shady or, c, stinky? >> shady. >> shady, it is. this food is often associated with tailgating and parties: a, buffalo chips, b, fish or, c, buffalo chicken wings. >> god job on the pronunciation, but i'll say buffalo wings. >> buffalo wings, it is. >> know your foe. >> all right. i have the giants winning 23-20 this week. i think the giants want to get to that 2-2 mark, and i know the bills have a tough defense, but the giants still score. >> yeah, we're close. i say giants lose 27-24.
they've got to do a lot of quick screen toss offset that pass rush. watch all the game action tomorrow at one right here on fox 5 and, again, you don't want to forget following each and every giants' game, flip over to our sister station, my 9, for giants postgame live. that's a wrap on this edition of giants kickoff. for our swire crew, i'm russ salzburg -- >> and i'm duke castiglione. have yourself a great night and

problems across the jersey shore and keeping the bulk of the rain to the west moving across the ohio valley heading towards the southeast and that is where it is going to stable for things work out as we go to the beginning of the week. that is a hurricane joaquin sitting well offshore. the center will move 500 miles to the east which is good news, we won't be affected by it is the area of low pressure and high pressure that is becoming a problem for us across the area. looking at future cast, what of clouds tonight at patchy drizzle will even the chance for an isolated showers but we will see breaks of son coming through before tomorrow night especially northwest of the city. to the hudson valley, northern new jersey some breaks of sun and on monday the clouds the around but we will finally get out of this system as we go into late monday night, we will see clearings working in and things will be greatly improved by the time we get to the middle of next week. not the case tonight. another dreary evening with patchy drizzle and gusty winds.
temperatures well below average, staying cool tomorrow with highs in the 60s and a chance of an isolated showers and continue to be windy and chilly. it the beginning of the week monday we start with clouds, tuesday looks good, more in the way of sunshine, that will warm up our temperatures, highs in the 60s by tuesday, wednesday in the 70s, nice middle of the week, another system could bring rain late friday night that should clear out in time for saturday and sunday. i think we will see a break in this hold we have had over our arianna as we going to tuesday. it is on the way. that's a big bull. i think that's old cyrus. 1800 pounds of do whatever the heck i want.
