>> 2-2. down the middle to kluber. that's on the inside corner struck him outnumber nine. >> tia: corey alleluia! bringing a strikeout record in three innings last night. yes, if you are asking the question, yeah, he's really that good. he became the first pitcher in post-season history to strike out eight over the first three innings. that's impressive. >> brian: that's impressive. eight out of the first nine. how about catcher roberto perez. this was not supposed to be a key player for this baseball team. he was pretty key last night as
beat the cubs 6-0. we will hear from perez coming up in just a moment. what we do need to tell you is tonight's game. it's been moved up a bit now. it's been moved up an hour from, spotted to be an 8:08 start. game now set for 7:08 because of the probability of rain. first pitch at the ball park will be 8:08. the gates will open at 4:30. so the key is how are you feeling about this rain? are you going to sit in some rain tonight? let's go back inside to sam roberts. she has all those ansrs hey, sam. >> samantha: hey, duff. good afternoon. good afternoon, tia. if you are just tuning in, good afternoon to you, as well. let's get straight to the maps because we have some rain on the way. now don't panic, ok? most of this is very light. you will notice this has been moving through over the course of the last three hours and it's barely moved at all. this rain is encountering a big bearier and that is some dry air that it's approaching as it
there is some of it making it to the ground. the stuff south of sandusky is very light. so, if it manages to make it to the 77 corridor, it would be super light. but, this rain out around sandusky and the islands, we got to watch this, because if it holds together, it could approach the cleveland metro area this afternoon. i think it would be out of here by game time, which would be wonderful news, but by 10:00 or 11:00, those rain chances start to go backp. late in the game because we have another batch of rain that's going to be approaching us. we will talk about that game 2 forecast and look ahead to the weekend coming up at 19 after. and right now, laura actually has some advice for you if you are coming into downtown tonight. this is important stuff. >> laura: game two of the world series tonight. indians are going to keep on rolling we all hope, right? but as you roll on into downtown, i want to help you out with parking. parking came at a premium for
this is a website i've useed it myself. it's called park wiz. i went to see what spots you can park and reserve for right now that way you aren't driving around looking, passing by expensive spots trying to find an affordable one. this spot that you can book and pay for, this is the public square garage. this isn't the only site. there are other sites but this is one of the few that you can actually pay for ahead of time. this next site is called best parking.com. if you goo lot of prices that look like wow that would be great if i could find parking for $10 bucks. well the thing is is those parking spots are probably not going for event parking $10 bucks but it will give you an idea of where some of the lots are. but again, you can arrange -- you can reserve that public square garage, again, for $31. so that's good news there. now, my best suggestion -- i wouldn't tell you to do something that i haven't done myself -- is ride the r.t.a. i love the rapid.
park at any of these spots, any of these parking lots that have a "p" on it here. one of my personal favorites on the west side is the puritas stop. west 150th. it's a huge parking lot, plenty of spots. you can hop on the rapid and ride into tower city. it will cost you about $5 a person for that round trip. you don't have to deal with the traffic. you don't have to deal with the expensive parking and you can come downtown for the fun, for the game, i'm telling you r.t.a. is a really good bet if you want av >> samantha: whatever you do, make sure you get in those seats on time because this is what you don't want to miss. the second baseman from the 1995 cleveland indians, carlos varega will toss the ceremonial first pitch and country music duo low cash will perform the national anthem. i love that the cavs have supported the indians all the way through. >> they have. the indians supported the cavs
>> tia: absolutely. >> brian: so much so, that lebron sent everybody a little gift before yesterday's game. how cool is that. he sent them custom head phones so they could listen to their favorite music to get into the groove, so to speak. >> tia: yeah. >> brian: before the game. so francisco lindor signed a jersey as a thank you for that great gift. now i know once the first pitch flies i don't think it matters that the cavs are pulling for the indians or indians pulling for the cavs. but it's cool. that type of support. we know the fans are all in but to see another sports team, not even the same sport, to be all in is a great thing. >> brian: and i think the fans like to see that. what the fans really liked to see was roberto perez hitting two home runs. he's hit three home runs in the playoffs. he hit only three home runs all season. now he's got three in nine games. he says well, he's just feeling like he's in the groove. >> playing with a lot of confidence right now. not trying to look too much to
emotions. first world series experience. just trying to go there and compete. >> brian: the indians can't celebrate too much, we talked about this yesterday. we said hey if the indians should lose don't get too down. same thing, it's only one game that they won so we can't get too high. >> tia: no, it's only one game. and we need four. >> a long way to go. we have to continue to play the game the right way. continue to hustle and do things the right way. >> we are a scary team.we playing a good team over there. see what happens. >> at this point in time it's about doing whatever we can to get four wins before they do. >> tia: well trevor bower walked off the mound in toronto. he threw a simulated game sunday and said the finger is in the an issue heading into tonight. >> there's no pain, no blood. i was able to execute all my
know, really encouraged by it. >> tia: well, while the fans, you know, get all ready for this and the cleveland indians and major league baseball, they are focusing on some kids that are at cleveland clinic hospital. >> the 2016 world series umpiring crew and umps care charities handed out build a bear stuffed animals to patients and families. now they teamed up with the star light children's foundation to entertainment unit to the rehab hospital. how nice is that. very, very nice. latest gaming system rolls bedside in hospitals to provide entertainment and healing power for the kids. all right. the win-dians weren't the only game in town. the cavs had exciting moments, too. we will share some of those big-time moments from the cavs
our children, they look up to us. what we value, how we treat others. and now they're looking to see what kind of leaders we choose. one respected around the world, or the one who frightens our allies and emboldens our enemies? the one
with the deep understanding of the challenges we face, or the one who is unprepared for them? a steady hand? or a loose cannon? common sense and unity, or drama and division? a woman who's spent her life helping children and families,
>> brian: many of you were glued to the world series. in case you were, you may have missed the cavaliers getting their rings in a ceremony before the season opener. after the players got their rings, that long elusive championship banner was sent up to the rafters at the q. and whether you are a team member or you are a hot dog vendor or. >> tia: that's right. >> brian: whatever you are, you are getting a championship ring
dan gilbert bought everybody a ring. >> tia: that ring was so icy it made me cold. i'll be honest about it. let's show you the ring. the cavs say it's a 6.5 karat ring. the phrase world champions is ins described on the top and bottom. there are 216 diamonds to represent cleveland's air area code, a one carat one is on top of the trophy. there are seven gems. wins and the garnet represents the cavs four wins. words are engraved on the inside. >> we have a saying, we always say automatic on three work on six. it's a true testament of what brings us together. something we all came up with last year. it was something that always locked us back in. after a win and, you know, so to have that on the ring, you always, you will always be able to reflect on that when you see that. >> tia: and guess what. you don't need a scale to figure
championship ring ever made. now that ring ceremony may have been sweet, right? before shump and j.r. smith extra sweet because they were traded from the knicks mid season. >> and that's who the cavs opened up against last night. i'm sure it was extra special for them as the cavs took them out. cavs were determined to show those knicks. some people say hey might be a factor -- not so much. at least not yet. lebron james had his 43rd triple double of har night. l.b.j. had 19 points, 11 boards and 14 dimes. kyrie irving scored 29 points. 19 in the third quarter and the cavs hammered the knicks. it was 117-88 in that season opener. so, a big win for them. >> tia: all right. well, straight ahead on cleveland 19 news, we are talking indians uniforms. check out these beauties from back in the day. we are getting answers about what they have in common with
sam? >> samantha: those are all so awe many sop, right? -- awesome, right? let's look at what we have going on with the weather situation. over the course of the next couple of hours, downtown is going to get more and more crowded. and if you come down right now, it's not
raining, but there could be some rain moving in this afternoon and maybe another batch late tonight. we are going to talk about it for you coming up right after
[crowd cheering] ? ? [star wars theme ? >> tia: nothing like some classical music, right? and of course you know here at progressive field there's a whole lot of history and i got it see a room full of it. >> brian: you got to see the first jersey that the indians wore or at least the first one they were able to archive here at the ball park. that's pretty cool.
uniforms that they wore in the world series, very similar now to what they are wearing these days. >> tia: this video is from 1920. that year, this team, the cleveland indians, played the then-brooklyn robins and won the world series. >> this was found in one of our storage areas. and what's cool is, you see nap lajuway in the middle. one of our first player managers. >> tia: this was the uniform then. in 1948 when the tribe won almost identical. take a look at the side by side. and now, as we head into game two of another world series, the patch is on and so is the quest to collect more jerseys. >> then we have an actual jersey from 1962 and i for get the gentleman's name that wore this. >> tia: it even has a date on there. >> yeah, yeah, so you can see that. it's got, obviously -- it's --
>> yeah. it it's seen some better days. >> tia: it's the oldest jersey that historian for the tribe jeremy fedor has seen in the team's collection. but already the team is looking ahead. >> actually i need more boxes. >> tia: hoping to collect more from this season. >> we got a corey kluber game used jersey from corey. players are receptive to us preserving the history. so when corey comes back in 30 years as an alumni, we out an exhibit of stuff from his career, kipnas' career. it might not seem like history because it happened yesterday, but, you know, time kind of flies. >> tia: yes, it does. and the goal is to collect a jersey and store it here from the 2016 world series. >> samantha: well no doubt it's going to be another amazing night in downtown cleveland. right? so if you are coming down here, do you need to bring the
dress warmly because it will be cool and it will be breezy. and again, there may be a little rain out there. let's start with what's happening right now. far northeast ohio completely dry. you don't have any showers from cleveland off to the east. but back to the west, there is some light rain south of sandusky. i think a lot of this is either not making it down to the ground or it's very, very light. huron county south to ashland and richland counties but a little farther to the north around the sandusky area, i do th t to the ground. put-in-bay seeing showers. so, if you are in the northern half of lorain county or even down toward central lorain county northern medina, west side of cleveland, be aware that these showers may clip you this afternoon. i don't think it's going to pour on you every minute or every second for the rest of the afternoon, but, there may be some passing showers that move through. they are kind of encountering some drier air and it's making it tougher for them to progress
temperatures this afternoon, they will remain in the upper 40s. we will try to make a go at 50 by 3:00. cloudy skies, breezy, and again, a few showers are possible. mainly for the cleveland area. you get farther south i think it's less likely that we will see rain in those areas. let's talk about tonight's forecast. because again, we do have that little chance for some spotty rain during the game. they have moved first pitch back, if you are just joining us, it's now a rather than 8:00 like last night. it will be cloudy for the game. it will be breezy and yes, there is that little shower chance but rain is much more likely after 10:00, 11:00, that's when things start to get a little bit more impressive. so, it's really the end of the game that we are watching closely for that chance of rain. temperatures in the low 50s for this one. not as cold as last night. but, it will be breezy and if there is any rain in the area, you know that's only going to
so, plan for a cool night at the ball park and hopefully a win. now that rain that comes in tonight, that's going to hang with us through the morning drive tomorrow if you are already thinking ahead to thursday morning, plan for a wet drive in to work and even a few lingering showers into the afternoon. temperatures fall through the day. tomorrow's going to be windy and raw. we will get a break in the rain on friday, but the weekend may bring a few more passing showers. the weekend also brings a big warm-up, we are talking 70s on saturday. back to you. >> tia: alleluia! >> samantha: i know tia's excited about that. >> brian: 70s on saturday. we will take it. thanks. we could use it today. >> tia: yeah, i would have taken it today. >> brian: you know what else i could use? little something to eat. >> tia: you may be the only person on the planet that i know that's never had taco bell. this is your opportunity to get a free taco. speaking of food, you are getting a free taco thanks to
base during the world series, everyone in america, that includes you, brian. >> brian: thank you. >> tia: gets a free taco. in the first inning, he hit a single. he took off when mike napoli was at bat stealing second. that means you can get a free taco on november 2 between 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. no excuses. this is your chance, brian. >> brian: this is my chance to try taco bell. i'll be standing in line i bet with everybody else. all right. going on of course. you heard about that maybe just a little bit about the election? lots of people are talking about it on social media. >> tia: yeah and this is really interesting. snap a voting selfie and you could be facing felony charges right here in the buckeye state. more about the voting selfie.
robert kearney: i fought for my country in kosovo and iraq, and i've been a republican all my life. but i'm the father of three girls. i can't stand hearing donald
trump call women pigs, dogs, and bimbos...and i sure proud and strong, in a nation where they're valued and respected. donald trump's america is not the country i fought for. so, i'm voting for hillary clinton. hillary clinton:
everyone. selfie? those are a big deal now. a lot of people in this election want to share a selfie of themselves actually voting. >> tia: this is a pretty serious story. a state rep is trying to change all of that. as it stands now, taking your picture with a marked ballot is a felony right here in ohio. representative mike duffy is cosponsoring a law to wipe the law off the books. he says it violates free speech. the other side says your selfie may violate another person's
now under investigation for posting an election selfie in tennessee. ben tracy has more. ? >> reporter: justin timberlake always seems ready for his close up. but this selfie could have gotten j.t. jail time. taking photos in polling places in tennessee is forbidden. timberlake posted his pick on instagram after voting in memphis saying choose to have a voice. if you don't, then we can'tea the problem, though, isn't hearing. it's seeing. while 19 states allow you to share a ballot-box selfie, at least 18 others have laws that ban it. in some states, the laws are unclear or allow for pictures of mail-in ballots. >> a lot of these rules were written before there were cell phones. >> rick is an expert in election law at u.c. irvine. >> what are the reasons for these bans? >> the idea actually goes back
ballot. people aren't going to bribe you because you can't prove how you voted. the danger is bribery. >> the ballot selfie seems inevitable. for some, a picture isn't even enough. >> that's one in the bank. >> some states are changing their laws to allow selfies. and in illinois, they even set up a selfie booth to give people a legal spot to take their shot. as for justin timberlake, don't the tennessee secretary of state's office seems to be enjoying the publicity saying we are thrilled justin can't stop the feeling when it comes to voting, so much that he voted early in person and is promoting voting to his millions of fans. >> tia: rain rain go away. we have some baseball to play. >> brian: yeah. sam said we could see some here in a little bit. exactly right. we got a little rain coming. hey, don't let it blow your
>> tia: yeah. be here. got to get here early. game starts at 7:08. go tribe. ? what, are you gonna cry now? don't be so gullible mcfly. you sit down, sit down. shoot it, fat boy. i'd look her right in that fat ugly face of
hers. she ate like a pig. you are so stupid. how stupid are the people of the country? i don't want to see you in here again.
he's like a little baby cry. i don't know what i said, i don't remember. what are you going to do about people who want to be mean and all this bullying. tell me a little bit more about why that's on your mind. i have asthma and occasionally i've heard people talking behind my back. that was really brave. i really
do think we need more love and kindness in our country. that's why it's important to stand up to bullies wherever they are, and why we shouldn't let anybody bully his way into the presidency.
[ door opens ] >> phyllis: so what's the plan? >> jack: i got the cash from the bank. we're ready for the next step in our plan. >> can't go in there! hey! >> phyllis: what the hell is going on?! >> jack: remove this man from >> billy: "this man," jack? i'm your brother. >> jack: thanks for the reminder. get him out of here. >> billy: i'm here to stop you, jack. >> jack: stop me from what? >> billy: from going down the same path i did and ruining yourself in the process.
