comes to us from the "prohm opener" steve prhom's first game inside hilton coliseum ended with a win thanks in large part to jameel mckay... here mckay would eventually finish off the old fashioned three point play, three of his career high 25 points. check this one more time... the pass from naz mitrou-long gets deflected, goes off the back board and right to mckay who gets hacked, and gets the member's roll. when it's your night, it's your night. mckay would add 10 dunks as the clones rolled over chicago state 106-64 play number four we head to the knapp center, drake hosting umkc. he's only a freshman but dominic (oh-lay- nuh check) olejniczak is already making blocks at an upper classman level! i don't know what (oh-lay nuh-check) means in polish, but i'd venture it means "get out of my house!" the polish wonder sending this shot three rows deep and off the wells fargo sign! can you call bank on a blocked shot? we may never know... play number three, we head to the dome for the 3a championship. pella looking
for the repeat title. and this would just about seal it. noah clayberg hands it off to nathan henry and the kid with wheels has got an arm. he tosses it up to will warner and #21 takes it in to put this one on ice. the best part about this play isn't the throw or the catch or the touchdown. it's the trophy presentation. austin schulte tore his acl in the first game of the season here he is taking the trophy and giving you all kinds of feels... the little dutch make it back to back titles... play number two is from the 4a title game. dowling going after 4a's first ever three peat... and look out for jacob zachary... this kid is a one man wrecking ball... he bounces off of no less than 5 tacklers before charging in for his 2nd score of the night... zeke elliot was good versus oregon last year, but jacob zachary isn't too far behind him. it's like #23 is going up against the jv squad of kennedy! and the scary part about mr. zachary, he's only a junior.
ya he'll be back next year as the maroons go for a 4-peat! great for top plays, bad for dowling opponents finally play number one... comes from the same game if the zachary touchdown sealed it, this was the back breaker for kennedy. down 7-0, the cougars try and comeback, but wait. what!? ryan mells is going the other way!? what the heck happened!? the handoff gets bobbled, and literally finds mells' hands as if he was the running back. the big guy is headed to the promised land! that made it 13-0 and dowling never looked back. 4a's first ever three-peat. and oh ya, mells will be back next year as well. tom wilson with an embarassment of riches at dowling. ryan mells number 66 in your programs, number one in our hearts! in our local 5 top five plays of the week! nikki: thanks jordan still to come on local 5 news at 10. the road home from the holiday weekend is a cold one. winter storms

toledo did make a last ditch offer to campbell which would've made him the highest paid coach in the mac. missouri also reportedly made a play for campbell, but in the end isu won out. campbell will reunite with running backs coach lou ayeni who coached with campbell in toledo and originially recruited mike warren to the rockets. many experts are calling this a home run hire for iowa state... jordan/fs athletic director jamie pollard had this to say about campbell in a statment today: "matt's coaching and playing achievements are extraordinary, but we were even more impressed by his character, leadership and commitment to his family... pollard went on to say..."we are truly blessed to have one of the industry's rising stars lead our football program." fs campbell also released a statement today saying, "i couldn't be more excited to receive the opportunity to coach at iowa state. two years ago after we played the cyclones in ames, i called my wife and said you simpy would not believe this place... fs "their fans, the game-day environment and facilites are all incredible. i could see us living in ames and
me coaching the cyclones some day. my family and i are truly humbled." our very own cy-hawk analyst jeff woody says a guy like campbell appears to be a perfect fit for the cyclones... "so i really like the hire. hes a guy that likes to run the football. toledo's been in the top 25 in rushing the past two seasons. another think i really like about campbel is that he's not a conventional recruiter, where he does have a system that he wants to recruit guys to, but he's also not opposed to taking transfers, he's not opposed to taking juco guys, and at iowa state you can't play the same game that ou and texas and those guys are playing, you gotta do it a little differently. so i think the writing's on the wall that this is a good hire, but we're not 100% sure yet." jordan/fs taking a look at campbell's bio. he's originally from football crazed massilon ohio and played at d-3 power mount union in ohio, winning 3 national titles as a player and two more as a coach. when hired by toledo in 20-11 he was the youngest head coach in fbs. he led the rockets to a 35-
15 record, 3 bowls, two bowl wins and two mid-american conference division championships. campbell is described as a players' coach and was named rivals dot com's top recruiter in 20-11. he has a wife and three children... the deal with isu is a six year deal, with a first year salary of 2 million dollars... and the cherry on top, today is campbell's 36th birthday! what a birthday present for him! jordan other big news up in ames today! the cy-hawk series hits the wrestling mat! the 15th ranked cyclones host the 2nd ranked hawkeyes, fresh off iowa's win over then #1 ok- state in the grapple on the gridiron we head up to hilton... 133 pounds, 2nd ranked cory clark. the pride of se polk....gets the 4 point near fall to take down #7 earl hall in a 9-2 decision. up to 141, dante rodriguez evens the match at 3 with the 6-2 decision. 149 pounds, #3 brandon sorensen for iowa against #15 gabe moreno. sorenson gets
hawks go up 7-3. cyclones answer at 165 pounds. 11th ranked tanner weatherman, the ballard-huxley grad gets the two point take down and the 10-9 win to make it 10-6. but from there, iowa would score 26 unanswered points overcoming a slow start to beat iowa state for the 12th straight time, 33-6. "even though it sounds like the direction of whatever the theme is here is that we were slow starters in the first 5 wins, you gotta give these guys credit for being able to do what you said, outscore heavy in the third period. we want to own the third period, we want to own the second period and we want to own the first period. we're greedy." finally the hawkeye men finishing up the advocare invite down in orlando versus #20 wichita state. hawks up 12 and moving the ball really well here. mike gesell finds anthony clemmons who buries the three ball. iowa up 22 at this point, but the shockers throw up a prayer and it goes in! 40-21 at the break.
but from there, the hawkeyes cruised. thanks to jared uthoff. uthoff led all scorers with a season high 22 points. iowa knocks off the 20th ranked shockers, 84-61. jordan/fs and the drake women stay unbeaten capturing the lady releb round unlv in las vegas 76-68. the lady dogs move to 6-0, maddy dean led all scorers with 23 points. lizzy wendel was named tournament mvp.
