saying that iowa state handled the post game celebration protocol consistent with the guidlines they put in place. they protected the players, coaching staff, and officials so no repercussions will be levied by the big 12. here's what head coach steve prohm had to say last night about his take on storming the court. "that's part of college athletics. that's a great moment. those guys have been camping out here for three days. there's probably only like ten schools that do that in the country, so give them there 15 or 20 minutes to do that. i mean i thought it was pretty cool. i hate that randy got hurt, i mean that's terrible. i was going to shake hands and to see my wife to be honest, because that was a great moment." jon: a lot of my colleagues have said court storming needs to be taken out of post game celebrations. personally-- i don't see it that way. i'm sorry to see randy go down with such a severe injury. it's a freak
happen. to be honest this wasn't even that bad of a storming-- it was pretty orderly. it's part of the passion-- and it's not something that happens every night. i think prohm summed it up best-- these kids camped out for days-- let them enjoy their 15-20 minutes of celebrating. jon: now the cy-hawk series continues tonight as the iowa women's basketball team heads to hilton tonight. this is a series that's been dominated by the home team in recent years. and the cyclone women are hoping for a little more "obviously this week is a little more pressure packed facing iowa state and having the opportunity to go to their place and play so very good basketball team i know their record doesn't really show it right now but when you've got duke on your schedule it does change things a little bit and obviously they've won inside hilton they're undefeated 2-0 inside hilton. this series has become one where the home team has kind of dominated this is the first time i can remeber where the visiting team is better than the home team. i'm not insulting our team but they're in the top 25 we're not they're 8-1 we're 4-3 so we got a lot to prove" "it's huge the rivalry is bigger than i've ever seen before coming here i knew it was a rivalry but participating and being in the cyhawk series it really shows that this is one of the biggest
when i first got here and had no idea what the rivalry was because i grew up with the whole a&m texas rivalry so coming here and experiencing it for three years and this rivalry for me on our home court it definitely means a lot and it's important to go in there and give it your all no matter what the outcome is." and some great news for the iowa hawkeyes and their fans. desmond king won the jim thorpe award for best defensive back in college football last night. he had 20 pass breakups and 8 interceptions this seasons for the hawkeyes.
