welcome back. the university of iowa was only given about 22 thousand tickets to sell to fans. that would be a lot maybe for stanford, but hawkeye fans want nothing more than to be in pasadena on january first. 55 thousand requests for tickets were sent in-- and alex giaimo shows us today is the day where you find out if you got a ticket or not! " today hawkeye nation found out if they awarded a share of the university of iowa's rose bowl tickets. over 54,000 people applied for a chance to watch iowa compete in the granddaddy of them all but with only 23,000 tickets allotted to the university...plenty of iowa fans were left out but not life long hawk fan ethan diehl. (ethan diehl) the point cut off for for tickets was 31 and you get three points for each season so my parents
easily made the cutoff but they didn't get the best tickets so you kind of wonder like what does it take to get the best tickets because they turned away 32,000 ticket applications. (alex giaimo) those points are how the university decided who has to stay and who gets to go to pasadena. the priority point system combines longevity, alumni status but most importantly. (ethan diehl) donations i mean its got to i don't know what the points are but it's got to be hundreds of points. it's who you paid. i mean it's about money, purely. (alex giaimo) and if you're hawk fan and still hoping for a chance to watch your team play in the rose bowl for the first in 25 years you're going to have to look to the secondary market.you're also going to have to shell out a good chunk of change. (ethan diehl) of course you know now everyone's you know looking at stubhub, you know, paying $600 a ticket for our game and $200 for the national title game which is crazy. (alex giaimo) tickets for the iowa stanford game are going for 3
including the college football playoff games. in iowa city with your hawkeye headquarters report, i'm alex giaimo. " jon: here's a quick look at what you'll be spending if you didn't get tickets through the lottery. the cheapest ticket i saw on stubhub was 400 dollars as you can imagine pretty far up. the most expensive was at 5 thousand 55 dollars and some odd cents. flights are going for right around dollars from des moines to lax out monday dec. 28th, and back on the 2nd of january. flights climb as high as 17 hundred or more and i'll bet they only go up from here. jon/bam: this week is finals week for both iowa and iowa state. that means players will be focused on their tests-- but they still have the big four classic this weekend. today iowa state coach steve prohm addressed the importance of focusing on gearing up for second. "obviously finals week we're off today we'll
shooting groups then we'll start getting ready for northern iowa wednesday thursday and friday but glad to be 9-0 going into finals week and now we just gotta take care of business academically. " "i was thinking about skipping all my finals but maybe i should go take them obviously we've done this before and you just gotta have your priorities straight i mean there's always still time to get into the gym really we've had our academics in order since we got here and we get great support around here so i'm not too worried about it." "it aint no big adjustment for me or george his fourth year my third year it was overwhelming my freshman year i didn't really know how to handle it but now i got it down pact and we should be good and stay sharp on the court also. jon: and a look at your big four classic schedule. your big four classic schedule. iowa plays drake at 3:30 saturday afternoon at wells fargo arena. then northern iowa and iowa
6pm that game will air on espnu. iowa state dropped a spot to number 5 in the ap poll today-- they stay at number 2 in the coaches poll jon: here's a look at the ap top 10 that was released today. the spartans 11-0 stay on top. kansas at 2. oklahoma is ranked third. kentucky moves in front of iowa state at number four. iowa state maryland is sixth. duke 7th. and virginia, purdue, and xavier round out the top 10. jon/3shot (wrap sports) stephanie: jack: we'll be right back... you're
