welcome back. i'm local 5 chief meteorologist brad edwards. brad: let's take a look at we are iowa's most accurate forecast. brad/wxwall: weather adlib: it was really nice to see the sunshine thursday afternoon, and it looks like we will have more of it in the forecast! however, that really doesn't mean it is going to warm up real soon. tonight will be clear to partly cloudy with temps dropping into the low 20s while those winds keep wind chills into the 10s. friday will also bring us more sunshine, but also those chilly winds that could exceed 20 mph at times. temperatures will be about average which means the low to mid 30s for highs. saturday morning will be our coldest morning yet this month with lows in the 10s for most areas, but at least the winds will calm down. with lots of sunshine and southerly winds
6:14 pm
those southerly winds will increase on sunday helping to push temps back up into the upper 40s ahead of a new weather system. the clouds will be increasing all day sunday with a chance for some rain showers by mid to late afternoon for mainly eastern iowa into the evening hours. no snow is expected with this system as it passes through iowa as temperatures into early next week are mostly going to be in the 40s. there might be a slight chance for some snow showers christmas eve morning, but i wouldn't count on a white christmas at this point. but that also means better travel conditions for those of us that don't travel by sled! brad/2wx: that's all for my weareiowa.com for mean it is going to warm up real soon. tonight will be clear to partly cloudy with temps dropping into the low 20s while those winds keep wind

are iowa sports" jon: welcome back. the waukee girls basketball team is out to a perfect start to
6:18 pm
they are coming off of a three point win over dowling-- as they try to defend their state title from last season. if you swing by practice-- you'll find an environment that breeds success while still enjoying the game itself. the waukee girls basketball was the best team in the state last year-- claiming the five-a championship. that put them in a national spotlight as usa today ranked them 23rd in their preseason poll coming into this season. "it's nice to have the recognition of the accomplishments of last year's team but that's a credit to the two seniors who left anna kollmorgan and ellie cavanaugh. and it's also a credit to our returners. if it were something in march it would mean a lot more than right now." still the warriors are ranked number one in 5-a. they'll get every team's best effort every night but the only expectations that matter come from within this waukee team. "i think the only pressure we have is the pressure we have on ourselves. anything from the outside can't be any more than what we're putting on ourselves to be successful and trying to get better everyday."
6:19 pm
number one in the state but we can't really pay attention to that." you'd think a team with such high standards would be on point-- and focused day in and day out. not the case for waukee-- who take an occassional juggle break, or dance session. it's all part of enjoying this experience-- and it pays off on the court. "like you saw we like to have a lot of fun and so we have that team chemistry and that really helps because if one girl is getting down we all pick her up we all know we're going to deliver for our teammates because we want to do good for our teammates because we have that good chemistry." "we are and we also have fun but we also get serious at times and we get what we need done." this waukee team may be having plenty of fun now-- but the most fun comes with another 5-a title at the end of the season. "we're really thankful and honored to have that recognition but we know that we have a lot of work to do and march is important." number one waukee takes on
