accused of beating his 79- year-old grandmother to death appeared in court wednesday. a pretrial conference was held for noah lamprei at the polk county courthouse. surveillance video from the night of the incident, shows the teen acting erratically at this git-n-go. his family says this is not the young man they know. the courts will try laprei as an adult even though the family didn't want that. his aunt says what happened that night in october is uncharacteristi c. katie :49 this is so uncharacteristic of noah. he's a gentle, kind, loving kid. i didn't believe it myself when i heard it. elias: laprei's court appearance was very brief, only a few minutes. several in the room were family and friends showing their support. his trial date was set for may 16th. sabrina: now to the latest in the san bernardino terror investigation as federal charges have been filed in the attack. sabrina: syed farook's

childhood friend -- who bought two of the weapons used in the shooting --is under arrest. this comes as president obama prepares to visit san bernardino to meet privately with the victims of the shooting and their families abc's stephanie ramos has the details. in eastern iowa. sabrina: on to our top story....the search for a moines teen comes to a tragic end... sabrina: authorities of 17-year-old sam kemp from a pond in granger. police say kemp left a party in granger saturday night and was never seen or heard from again. his family reported him missing sunday. and after five days of searching, the metro star dive team recovered his body....which was positively identified by his family at the scene. with hundreds of thousands of iowans being affected, the centers for medicare and medicaid services delayed the privitization of iowa's medicaid by two months. the decision gives more time to iowans as they change from state-run medicaid to managed care. but the feds will only approve the change if the state improves areas of the program. they say the managed care provider networks are not fully developed. there are significant areas of the state that don't have many hospitals or doctors within a reasonable distance. and the state call center for people with questions about their healthcare isn't adequate. elias: for a full list of the required changes to the medicaid program before it can be privatized here in iowa on march 1st, we have a copy up on our website. that's we are iowa dot com. sabrina: the person dubbed the most hated man in america has been arrested....as we look at national headlines.

sabrina: federal authorities took martin shkreli into custody thursday on federal securities fraud charges the case centers on his time as c- e-o of biotech company retrophin. prosecutors allege he used the company's cash and stock to settle investor claims from his now- defunct hedge funds. retrophin, which ousted shkreli last year, has since filed a 65 million dollar civil suit against him. shkreli the c-e-o of turing pharmaceuticals , has been under fire since buying the rights to an aids drug...and raising the price more than five- thousand percent. elias: we're back with meterologist bree sullivan... bree (bree adlibs)

but just haven't met. sabrina: it's the family that got caught up in an awful double murder two and a half weeks ago. heather belieu and bryon howard were shot inside their home by one of their roommates, who's since been caught. elias: in an exclusive interview, local five's jack miller sat down with not only heather's mom and grandmother. but also got to meet heather's two children who were inside happened. only see here on local 5. 0294 clip josh peyton play with toys, you'd have no idea of the horror last month. her parents, both suddenly taken from her. and she was left with their bodies. she won't know for years what really happened. all she knows right now is she misses them.
