the d-o-t traffic cameras now. this is i-235 at 42nd street in des moines the dot website reporting that interstate conditions there are partially covered. for a first-hand perspective, we have iowa state patrol sergeant nathan ludwig on the phone. jack: what are you seeing right now? any major blockages to report? what kind of accidents are you seeing? how does this
jack/lam: here in des moines, public works has been out with crews all day clearing roads. the city has 700 miles of residential streets to clear... which they will work on once all snow routes are finished. des moines crews are on 12 hour shifts. they began with pre-treatment yesterday, plowing today... and a final pass with rock salt later, until all the streets are done. "today we're just taking care of um routes to start with, plowing curb to curb and salting as needed. " "tomorrow we'll be plowing the rest of the streets. into tonight and tomorrow's hours, plowing the residential streets and that will be when we ask people to not park on residential streets." most metro cities have their snow ordinances means you can't park

on the metro's latest homicide. new details now on the metro's latest homicide. jack: police were called to the brookside apartments on des moines' south side overnight on reports of a shooting. they found 36 year old tacono conner, of des moines, dead from gun shot wounds. 37 year old ami stolki was also shot but is expected to recover from her injuries. police say they're interviewing a person of interest in the case. local 5's claire powell has more. " " "the call came in as a shooting in a common area-hallway on second floor" des moines 21 st homicide of the year. just before 11 p-m on sunday night, police say 36 year old tacono conner was found shot to death in the brookside apartment complex off of south union street also found shot- 37 year old ami stolki of des moines- who's recovering from her injuries at a local hospital. police say they're hoping to get more information from a person of interest in the case. "our detectives have
throughout the night, identified person of interset that may have more information, trying to track that person down get them in here for an interview" while stolki is expected to survive - conner's death marks des moines' 21st homicide in 2015. that makes it the second highest on record. "it was 20 years ago when we had 20 in 1995, in 1990 we had 23, this is the highest since then" police say even though there's nothing connecting this case to others at the moment, many of this years homicides have one thing in common. blowing and drifting of the snow, so traveling in not recommended. here in the metro, we are expecting the snowfall to pick up in intensity later this afternoon and into the early evening hours. it looks like we could end up with 5-8" of snow here with higher amounts likely to the north. southeastern iowa will have a mix of freezing rain, sleet and some snow which will also make traveling very dangerous. the snow should be tapering off for central iowa by 9 pm or snow with colder winds to follow behind this system. the rest of the week will be very cold, so our snow will be sticking around into the new year. highs will mainly be in the 20s or colder with wind chills being even lower. not much snow is expected though, but we could see some flurries or snow showers possible wednesday. brad/2wx: that's all for my
