and ap player of the year christian mccaffery! the redshirt sophomore has been on a tear this season, setting the ncaa single season mark for all purpose yards with 3,496, that broke barry sanders' old record which stood for 27 years! along with qb kevin hogan, mccaffery will be tough to stop, but iowa's defense is up to the challenge... "even though he's small, he's still very athletic, very elusive and i can see it's hard to bring him down, he knows how to keep his legs moving and knows how to get out in open space and he can make you miss at any time." "you know with a guy like that, you just have to be prepared for everything, he's shown that he can hurt you in a lot of different ways, through the pass game, obviously through the run game, and he's even thrown the ball a couple times, so you just gotta be prepared for everything." "michigan state is the #1 team in the country, it's going to be a great matchup for us. they wanna get out and run, so do we, it's gonna be an uptempo game. it's going to be an awesome atmosphere here in carver, it'll be a fun one. you know we've never been able to beat michigan state, but we've had some close ones, we've had some very good games with them and i think we're very hungry wanting to get a win against them."
